《Infinitium, Book 1》Chapter 44, Back to the City

(Day 167) Aprilis 12th, 12th year of the Dragon, Age of Enlightenment
I put the duffle bag in my Ring of Holding as I walked toward the exit, “Only back for a second. Venoran is under attack by traitors and the Assassins Guild, I need to get back. I will return, hopefully by nightfall.” I walked outside and shut the door behind me. Then I ran. During the 9-minute trip back I contemplated everything Thor had shown me. The issues they’d had with the die-hard criminal element and those that thought they were powerful and then the Lexi. I didn’t want to commit genocide but if there was ever a race that might justify it, they were certainly on the list of ultimate assholes. I also thought about our conversation right before I broke the connection
“Johnathan, the time dilation difference is about 6.67 times” Thor had informed me.
“Is there any way to overcome that?” I’d asked.
“Now there might be, though I need to do some testing first”
“Good, if you need to get a message to me after I go back, create USBs with the information on them and make sure to remove all the nanites before you send it through the portal. I should be able to create a computer to download the information. I will create some type of blinking light system to transmit data in binary that is battery powered. At 6.67 speed I’ll set it to transmit for 1 day exactly which means you should check for new updates once every 6 days and 16 hours. “
“Noted. Johnathan Predictions approach unity that Desirae may become an issue in the future.” Thor said
“I believe that too. Even so, teach her about our Universe and give her the tools she needs. If you run into any aliens worse than the Lexi that you need to make a physical demonstration against, use her. She is approximately one-sixth as strong and fast as me and her skill with bladed weapons will undoubtedly be better than anyone on the planet except myself.”
“Understood. Am I to let her out at any time?” Thor asked
“I saw that you are creating Earth V and it's almost ready. Just keep humans off that planet for now. If she follows the rules and keeps to her training use that planet to allow her some fresh air. Maybe even move her there permanently. But no one else is to go there, not even Amanda. She will be fast, and your reaction time might not catch her attack, especially if she’s allowed to get close.”

Their conversation had then shifted to the best way for the nanites to be upgraded. Then it had been time for me to head back. If the Time dilation held true I’d been gone for eleven minutes in my Universe which was almost two minutes at Adamantine Tower.
I arrived back at Venoran and made my way to the Temple. “Hey Freya, I’m back. The screaming coming from the castle and surrounding buildings was my fault. I Thought some psychological warfare would help get the traitors to stand down.” As I was talking I had my nanites create a map of the city and circled the houses in red that had been skipped by the assassins. “This map details every house that no one was killed in that the assassins seemed to skip. Also, it seemed that their highest level assassins were doing the initial attacks then the lower levels were coming out to do clean up. By the time I’d encountered Desirae, their level 4,897 assassin, they were already making their way into the 5th district away from the castle. I believe they would have gone through the whole city, and I don’t know of anyone here that could have stood up to here.
“Is Desirae dead?” Freya asked.
“No, she and I were sucked into my Universe. I’d targeted her with a Mage Bolt attack and an item she had absorbed the damage. Fortunately for me, I did more damage than it could hold which caused it to explode. Unfortunately, she placed the necklace into her ring of holding to contain the explosion. She was trying to throw the ring away from her when it must have exploded. A vortex opened and we were both sucked through to my Universe. She is currently being controlled by my nanites and I have ensured she’s away from the rest of humanity, at least until I make it back there to release her.”
“Then the leader of the assassin’s guild still lives?”
“Yes, but she’s aging six times faster than anyone here, doesn’t have access to her personal interface and magic does not work where she is. Also, I could literally make her do anything I want which includes dying. She won’t be an issue unless I bring her back here for some reason, which I don’t plan to do. Anyway, I returned here first because that spell you cast was dispelled. I need to get back out there and help subdue the traitors

Freya smiled and cast the spell on me. “We’ll be here,” she said.
I took the time to memorize God’s sight again then cast it on himself. I turned and ran out of the temple and started making my way through the city as fast as I could. As I came upon anyone that was fighting my standard actions were to spend the first 3-5 seconds using analyze and identify on anyone with hostile intent then determined the durability of any armor they were wearing on their head. I made sure to analyze them, so I didn’t accidentally kill anyone. I’d then ask them to stop fighting. If they did and surrendered I'd move on to the next group. If they didn’t stop I’d strike each target twice if armored, once if not. The armored individuals that did not surrender had their headpieces destroyed when I did exactly the amount of damage needed to reduce their durability to zero. Then I'd hit them for exactly 100 subduing damage to knock them out. I rushed around the city, ending fights, and after 45 minutes noticed that there was no more fighting going on. There hadn’t been as much fighting as he’d thought. Later I would learn that the screams that had come from the castle and surrounding homes, once investigated, had taken the fight right out of the traitors
Congratulations, you have killed 99% of the Assassin Guild attack force that was sent to infiltrate Venoran. You have subdued the traitors that were trying to wrest control from the city guard. For doing so you are awarded 55,000 Fame Points and leveled to level Regional Fame. Regional Fame provides positive and negative modifiers depending on whether you have positive or negative relations with the leaders in that region. A relationship status of neutral simply means that the individuals in that region you encounter may have heard of you and may be impressed by your exploits but neither love nor hate you.
Relationship with members of Venoran is positive.
Relationship with members controlled by the Council is negative.
At level 10 Positive the Council will hate you so vehemently that they may attempt to attack you on sight.
I made my way back to Freya. “The fighting is stopped, who would be in charge now?” I asked.
“If one of the royal heirs has survived then they will take over, otherwise, it might take a little while to sort out,” Freya answered.
“Okay, I need to head over to the Dungeon. The Dungeon Master tried to kill me this morning. He’s dead”
“You killed Belarious?” she asked
“Yeah, that sperm that should have been swallowed is now a soulstone in my possession. He and his little assassin sidekick Seraphine killed the members of my Dungeon Party from yesterday, their wives or husbands, and their children before they traveled out to my home and tried to kill me. When he died, I became the Dungeon Master. I removed the Item of Power yesterday as it was a Soul Gem that contained a Divine, which I have every intention of releasing” I added hurriedly quickly” But if the dungeon is to remain I need to get inside and replace the item of power in the next 6 hours.” I finished.
“The dungeon is a great boon to the city. Know that there are those that would try to wrest the title of Dungeon Master from you so be careful as you head over there.”
“Not to worry, they won’t even know I’m there or have entered,” I said as I activated my cloak and sped towards the dungeon. 6 seconds later I entered the Dungeon at just under the speed of sound. I’d slowed down so I could stop in the entryway.

The Card Thief of Culnivar
Deep with the cozy kingdom of Daeton, among the generation-old farmlands and villages, a young farmer’s daughter stumbles upon a dead man. His elaborate clothing has been torn to ribbons, yet his skin remains unblemished. His face is peaceful, and tucked into the hand lying across his chest can be seen a solitary playing card. He is a Ludum Haeres. The last remnant of a Summoner. Numbered among those few capable of changing their destinies. The unseen rulers of the world known as Vesperia, and one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The woman knows none of this. And so, she picks up the card... This is my third novel on Royal Road, the first being "Beyond the Horizon's Eye", and the second being "The Dawnfire Archives". This story is something of a test in a new genre, that of CardLIT. We'll see how well it succeeds as the story continues. It takes place in a different setting than my other tales, with an entirely new cast of characters. It does, however, contain several ties between the stories. Average post between 1000 - 3000 words.

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.

Medley of Fates Worse than Death
Rick wakes up in a world unknown to him. He doesn't know what exactly happened or why he is there, he just feels he's not from that world as if he had Dissociative amnesia. Soon after waking up, he gets attacked not once, not twice but three times in a single day. Our hero can know how strong enemies are thanks to a special ability of his, but the thing is... What good does it do to know just how weak you are compared to a deadly creature chasing you? This is a LitRPG Fantasy Adventure in which battles are won (or lost) with strategy and wits as our protagonists aren't necessarily the strongest... So if you enjoy more strategic battles I think you will love this story!About the chapters: I will post mostly 1,300 or so word chapters, I love weekly manga and feel like that pacing is similar to the one in a weekly serial chapter, hopefully, you enjoy these chunk-sized chapters :) I only do this for fun in my free time so I think I will probably post a chapter a week, but if my patreon ever gets busy I might put more time into my hobby xD If you feel like checking out some of the newest chapters, I have them over on my Patreon (Currently 5 chapters in advance): www.patreon.com/rija Extra info (Might get spoilery): As the story progresses I intend to add more strategy, politics and economics into the story, but it will still be mostly a LitRpg action-adventure. (Also if you had read my synopsis previously I changed it a bit because the elements I mentioned before in the synopsis won't come into play until much later into the story, and that's why I changed it.)
