《Survival in another world is HARD》Chapter 4

[You have leveled up!]
[Stat points are available!]
[Do you wish to distribute them now?]
A statement followed by a question. Blocking her vision, she had encountered text floating idly in the air. It was like straight out of a video game. Everything she had experienced so far had felt strange and absurd, but this was the most outrageous development.
“What…?” As if forgetting she were in the middle of a fight with a pack of savage man-eating dogs, Kurushimi stood with a blank stare as she questioned everything she had believed up to this point.
“It’s a level up notification.” Voice-san’s straightforward reply almost made Kurushimi feel dumb for being so confused.
“Yeah, I gathered that! What I mean is-!”
“The dogs are still here. Pay attention.” As Kurushimi quickly snapped back in an attempt to defend her confusion, she was effortlessly cut off by Voice-san as she brought the main problem back into focus.
‘Oh yeah, those guys are still here aren’t they?’ Looking past the text, she met the eyes of the dogs once again. They didn’t seem to take notice of the floating text and also didn’t look very happy with how she had just crushed the neck of their friend.
“Uwahhh… How am I gonna deal with this?” Worry enveloped her face as the adrenaline from moments ago slowly wore off. Sure, with the guidance of Voice-san, she had managed to kill one of them. But now that she had to face two at once, Kurushimi was unsure of how she would deal with this predicament.
But unlike Kurushimi, Voice-san didn’t sound distressed in the slightest, “Agree to distribute them now and apply all points to endurance.”
Not understanding what she meant, Kurushimi replied, “Huh?”

Voice-san repeated herself, “Agree to distribute them now and apply all points to endurance.”
“Oh, okay.” After hearing her say it a second time, Kurushimi finally processed what she meant.
It was actually a simple instruction in video game standards. But it was precisely because it was standard for a video game that she had failed to process the command at first. Staring into the open space ahead of her, she shouted, “Yes, I want to distribute them now!”
In response to her voice, a wall of text appeared in front of her:
Name: Kurushimi Gaman
Race: Lesser vampire
Sex: Female
Lvl: 2
HP: 20/20
SP: 3/4
MP: 10/10
STATS:
HP: 20
STR: 5
END: 2
SP: 4
AGI: 11
MP: 10
SKILLS:
[Fangs Lvl. 1]
[Blood magic Lvl. 1]
[Night walker Lvl. 1]
UNIQUE SKILLS:
[What’s yours is mine Lvl. 1]
Stat points: 2
Skill points: 100
“Eh? Lesser vampire…?” As she hurriedly skimmed over the wall of text, she noticed one peculiar feature. Under ‘Race’, it stated her to be a ‘Lesser vampire’. Although that seemed important, there were more pressing matters and the clock was ticking, “Umm, how do I level endurance??”
[Endurance has increased by 10!] After some brief flailing around, she managed to allocate her points into endurance. From the amount she had received, it looked like a single stat point constituted to five points in that specific stat. Hence boosting her endurance from 2 to 12.
“Hoh~! I already feel stronger! But for what reason did I level endurance anyway? I feel it would have made more sense to level strength, that way I could fight them off~” With her newly found strength, Kurushimi already felt much more confident. Although, she was still unsure what exactly the plan was that constituted leveling endurance.

Voice-san: “Whilst outnumbered, I’m afraid there is no way to avoid being bit. With endurance leveled… You shouldn’t die at the very least.”
“Ah, okay I understand now…” Kurushimi nodded in agreement – that was, until she fully computed what Voice-san had told her. “Waaaaaait, wait, wait, wait! I’m going to be bit?! I don’t want to go through that again! Twice was already enough for me!” Kurushimi waved her hands around in disapproval.
Voice-san: “It won’t hurt as much as before.”
Kurushimi: “…”
Voice-san: “It’ll only hurt a little bit.”
Kurushimi: “...”
“And you don’t have much of a choice.” Completely devoid of sympathy, Voice-san dismissed the unresponsive Kurushimi and alluded to the incoming dogs. Following the terrible attempt at reassurance, the dogs sprinted her way simultaneously. There was no more time left; it was do or die.
‘Kreee-!’ The front-most dog leapt at Kurushimi, latching onto her arm. The giant fangs and sharp row of teeth dug into her flesh, spilling large amounts of blood. She grit her teeth as she struggled, but her arm was completely locked within its jaws. “Gghh… I suppose this is better than losing my arm at least-!”
“Crush its neck now. Same as before.” Hearing Voice-san’s next instruction, Kurushimi felt glad that the voice was in her head. She didn’t know if she would have been able to hear it otherwise.
Grabbing the dog’s throat with her other hand, she wrestled it to the ground. She managed to pry the dog’s fangs off her arm and pin it against the ground. “Sh*t, that hurts!” Although, the thrashing about had caused her wound to become much worse in the meantime with a lot of blood being spilt all around her.
She wanted to complain about the pain, however she needed to kill the dog now while it was pinned down. Who knew how far away the other dog was? Maybe it was already on top of her? Realizing she was getting distracted, Kurushimi quickly pushed away thoughts that could lead to hesitation and lifted her boot up to stamp its neck.
“Agyah?!” However, she suddenly felt her weight become uneven and her balance falling. As she felt a mass of weight slam into her side, it didn’t take long for her to compute what had happened. She hadn’t been quick enough. The dog slobbered over her face as it mounted on top of her.
“Grrrr-!” Kurushimi struggled to hold the fangs away from her face, spit dropping onto her cheeks. She was barely just managing to hold it away, preventing it from mauling her face. But she had bigger concerns as of this moment! She had it pinned before but how long would it be until the other dog got up? ‘I can’t defend myself against the other one like this-!’

Updates at least every Monday, Thursday, and every other Sarturday, (from 26/11/2021). This is primarily a story exploring what it means to be human, using a lens of a hopefully real-feeling fantasy world. This story is not a power fantasy or a traditional Litrpg , while it has elements of these genres, it will focus on how these tropes would influence real people and possibly Redshirt will break some of these tropes along the way. There will be a variety of different characters and perspectives, some you hate, some you love, and some that will frustrate. Just as all people do. I don't believe there will be anything overly traumatic or explicit, but it's better to be safe than sorry. There will be some heavy topics explored, the characters views do not reflect the authors; however, if there is an issue in how I present/understand these issues please do tell me, and I will try my best to rectify it.
