《Survival in another world is HARD》Chapter 8

As the tentacles from Kurushimi’s shadow reached the Lvl. 8 canisfang, they began to intertwine with its shadow. They slowly crawled up from its shadow and enveloped the canisfang, making it turn rigid.
《Target successfully bound!》
A notification from the system popped up in response. Kurushimi didn’t really understand what bound meant and what would happen next so she could only guess that it had worked.
Kurushimi attempted to move one of the tentacles attached to the canisfang to see what would happen. As she pulled at the tentacle, the canisfang aptly moved.
-Wait… Is this what I think it is?
With an idea of what may be going on here and what she could do with her new Shadow magic, she continuously moved the tentacles about in different directions. The canisfang responded with rather robotic movements and the surrounding canisfangs began to notice the strange behaviour.
-It’s hard to use but I think I can control the canisfang with the Shadow magic!
As one of the Lvl. 6 canisfangs approached the Lvl. 8 canisfang, Kurushimi raised her arm and violently tugged at one of the shadow tentacles. Immediately, the Lvl. 8 canisfang lunged forth, opening its jaw wide and clamping onto the base of the Lvl. 6 canisfangs neck. The Lvl. 6 canisfang had no room to struggle under the seemingly stronger canisfangs attack.
“CRACK”
The sound of the Lvl. 6 canisfangs neck bone snapping reverberated around the area, alerting the 2 other canisfangs. They began to grow hostile and shrieked at the Lvl. 8 canisfang. The two had realised something was up and decided to attempt a subjugation of the Lvl. 8.
-A Lvl. 6 and Lvl. 5 vs a Lvl. 8 huh? Normally I’d say the numbers advantage would result in the win for the opposition but I have a good feeling about this Lvl. 8!
A nasty smirk grew on Kurushimi’s face. It greatly contrasted the cute doll look of her new body. If someone were to see it, they’d assume someone else was in her body. Which in the end, is technically true. After all, this isn’t Kurushimi’s body.

Kurushimi truly felt zero pity when she was messing with the canisfangs. After all, when they tore her apart, did they show any sympathy? That is why she was enjoying this moment to the fullest. It was one of the first times she had experienced fun since coming to this world of misery and suffering. She was a little worried that she would develop sadistic tendencies though…
[Kurushimi: Now, go my canisfang! Tear them apart!]
In her excitement she had given up on trying to remain silent and started to cheer on her bound cansifang. With the 2 canisfangs preoccupied with her Lvl. 8, she wasn’t too concerned about staying stealthy anymore anyway.
The Lvl. 8 canisfang began to charge forth against its will. As its huge jaws began to spread wide open, blood and spittle flailed about from when it had attacked the Lvl. 6 canisfangs neck before.
With a complete disregard for its own well-being, the Lvl. 8 canisfang pounced on top of the other Lvl. 6 canisfang. It tore apart and mangled the flesh of the Lvl. 6 and did not stop until it was dead, even with the Lvl. 5 canisfang doing all it could to attack it.
It looked as if the Lvl. 8 was attempting a suicide attack, with its only mission being the demise of the two canisfangs. Like it didn’t care if it survived afterwards or not. This complete rejection of survival instinct was only possible because of Kurushimi’s complete control over it.
The Lvl. 6 couldn’t do a single thing under the violent and unreasonable assault by the Lvl. 8. It quickly died just as its other Lvl. 6 companion had before it.
Finally, only the Lvl. 8 canisfang and the Lvl. 5 canisfang remained. The gory mess of the other two canisfangs remains lying still around them, the field was covered in their gross blood. The Lvl. 8 was covered in wounds and exhausted from being pushed beyond its bodily limits. From the looks of it, Kurushimi wasn’t sure if the Lvl. 8 would be able to win the next duel.

Kurushimi laughed as she witnessed the scene of her own creation.
[Kurushimi: Well, it doesn’t matter. You are both going to die in the end.]
Kurushimi manipulated the strings of her shadow once more and the Lvl. 8 canisfang charged forth once again…
. . .
In the end, both canisfangs died. Both of their carcasses garnished the ground in pools of their own blood. Kurushimi dropped down from the tree and finally saw the scene from ground level.
[Voice-san: ...And you called me a sadist.]
Voice-san showed up as Kurushimi stood in silence before the dogs. She admitted she went a little overboard but to be called a sadist by the one and only Voice-san pissed her off a little bit.
[Kurushimi: This is revenge for what they did to me! They deserve no sympathy!]
Kurushimi had truly built a burning hatred for the species known as ‘canisfang’. It would definitely take a long time for her to lose her grudge. And it would take a lot of sacrifices from the canisfangs…
《You have levelled up!》
《You have levelled up!》
《You have levelled up!》
《You have levelled up!》
Kurushimi gained a lot of XP from killing the canisfangs. They were all higher levels than her after all; with the highest level being twice hers.
[Kurushimi: If they gave me the XP, then they count as my kills right?]
[Voice-san: Yes, they should.]
Kurushimi approached the nearest body and prepared herself. Once again she would have to brace her taste buds, sacrificing their well-being in pursuit of strength.
She knelt down towards the dog and grabbed onto its cold skin. After furrowing her brows, she dug her teeth into the dog's flesh and sucked as hard as she could. The blood that hadn’t been spilt on the ground yet, went into her mouth and down her stomach. As she had expected, the blood was very bitter.
《Used skill: 『Fangs Lvl. 1』!》
《Used unique skill: 『What’s yours is mine Lvl. 1』!》
《Gained +1 HP, +1 STR, +1 END, +1 SP, +1 AGI, +1 MP!》
《Skill proficiency reached. Skill: 『Fangs Lvl. 1』 has become 『Fangs Lvl. 2』》
Along with the successful activation of her unique skill, she also saw for the first time that one of her skills had leveled up. It had been a long time since she had witnessed a skill level up. With the amount of time her skills had remained Lvl. 1, she had completely forgotten about the fact that they could level up.
[Kurushimi: Well. let’s see what has changed then!]
《『Fangs Lvl. 2』: Allows the use of sharp fangs to suck blood. Sucking blood regenerates HP, MP, SP and cleanses negative status effects.》
Nothing changed.
[Kurushimi: Wait, but didn’t it level up though? Why ‘ant it changed at all? Shouldn’t it have changed a bit? Like adding a new effect or something?]
As Kurushimi was beginning to get worked up, a loud audible sigh could be heard.
[Voice-san: Calm down. It’s only Lvl. 2 right now so the effect is still minimal. Expecting a new effect now is expecting too much. For now, you can just assume its effects have gotten stronger.]
[Kurushimi: Ahhh, ok.]
For now, Kurushimi decided to just forget about the level-up and concentrate on the other task at hand, sucking the blood out of all these dogs.
《Gained +1 HP, +1 STR, +1 END, +1 SP, +1 AGI, +1 MP!》
《Gained +1 HP, +1 STR, +1 END, +1 SP, +1 AGI, +1 MP!》
《Gained +2 HP, +1 STR, +2 END, +2 SP, +2 AGI, +2 MP!》
When Kurushimi was finally done, she was happy about the increase in stats. The Lvl. 8 had even given her twice as many as the previous ones. She was happy. She truly wanted to be happy, but…
[Kurushimi: Agh! I’ll never be able to get used to this taste! It tastes so bad! So bitter! Even the after taste…]
Kurushimi tried to block out thoughts of the taste with how much this will increase her survival chance...
[Kurushimi: I’ll never be able to get used to this…]
She couldn’t.
Kurushimi spat on the ground and casually walked away from the blood bath she herself had created.

There are currently 110+ chapters of Path of Blood there. P.S - I started Path of Blood about a year ago so the first fifteen chapters have some problems character wise however I'm currently working with an editor to remedy these to make the story a better read. Anyway, these issues don't last long and since Pob is a story that rewards the patient, only those who've read till the latest will understand how good the story really is....I designed it to get better with every ark, surprises planned at every corner and the eventual ending of Pob will definitely not dissapoint, so stick around and give it a chance. :D
