《Survival in another world is HARD》Chapter 12

Once again, Kurushimi was mindlessly walking through the forest in the direction she thought the way out would be. With her grand chase of the pullumskāl, she had run around in a lot of different directions. So, it was entirely possible that she was going a different direction than she was initially going in.
But Kurushimi could only hope and trust her instincts that she was in fact going the right way. Kurushimi stepped around a large tree that was blocking her vision. As she got around it, she suddenly noticed a faint light.
《Used skill: 『Farsight Lvl. 1』!》
Kurushimi, shocked to see this, instantly activated ‘Farsight’ to probe the source of the light. She had an idea what it was and was extremely excited in the chance case of her being right here.
The light was rather far away but was shining brightly through all the cracks of the forest. All evidence currently pointed to the source of the light being from the sun.
[Kurushimi: UWOOOOAH! I’m close! I’m close!]
Kurushimi was full of beaming smiles. She was close to the end of the forest it would seem, so she instantly felt ecstatic and couldn’t help but shout. In terms of days, she hadn’t been in the forest for long. Even if you counted her runs, she still hasn’t been in the forest for more than a few days.
But for Kurushimi, the forest was suffocating. It felt like she had been in here for such a long time and to finally nearly be free… Felt great for Kurushimi.
Lots awaited Kurushimi in the new world outside the forest. A completely different world than earth was here for her to explore. And being out of the dangerous forest allowed her to potentially actually enjoy her time here.
Limitless possibilities were out there for Kurushimi. Perhaps, in this game-like world, there was an adventurer’s guild where she could join a strong party. Meet all sorts of fun and interesting people and see all sorts of just as fun and interesting places.
[Kurushimi: Perhaps… Ending up here wasn’t so bad after all.]
After Kurushimi had thought about what could possibly await her, she began to forget about her horrorsome experiences just a bit. Kurushimi was all but ready to rush out and begin sprinting until she was interrupted.

[Voice-san: Kurushimi, stop and slow down for a second. You aren’t out yet.]
[Kurushimi: Yeah, yeah I understand. I’ll be fine. I’m almost out now and what could possibly be out here anyway]
[Voice-san: Haaa… I warned you.]
Kurushimi didn’t really understand Voice-san’s sudden concerns. She was in the very outskirts of the forest and it was unlikely for there to be anything out here. If there was something, it would be low level canisfangs or something… She may even potentially meet people for the first time. It wouldn’t be strange for people to be near the entrance to the forest.
With that in mind, Kurushimi waved off Voice-san’s warning as her being simply over cautious. She walked for a little while getting a bit closer to the light. Until suddenly a loud roar erupted nearby.
“KREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EE EEE EE!”
Looking around, she didn’t see the source of the sound. From the roar itself, it was almost identical to the shrieks of the canisfangs. Normally, she wouldn’t be concerned about some canisfangs but it was the very fact that this one was different in the way it sounded. To be particular, it was in the fact that it was a roar rather than a shriek. It felt much louder and much more intimidating than usual.
《A status effect had been inflicted!》
《Currently under condition: ‘Predatorial roar’!》
《Predatorial roar: Lose 30% move speed when running away from the user of this skill.》
[Kurushimi: ...what?]
A few messages suddenly popped up after hearing the canisfang’s roar. The roar she had heard seems to have actually been a skill. The first time Kurushimi had come across a monster with a skill was her encounter with the pullumskāl where she had faced the fearsome ‘Camouflage’ skill, in which she had almost lost to.
This must mean there was a fairly powerful canisfang nearby. Maybe similar to that leader-type Lvl. 8 canisfang she had previously used her ‘Shadow magic’ on. There was also a chance this canisfang could be an entirely different type. Like a special one or something.
As Kurushimi grew more wary, she suddenly noticed her movements becoming really slow. At first she thought it must be the effect of the ‘Predatorial roar’ skill but when she looked around, she noticed It also looked like everything around her had also abruptly stopped.

-Huh? Isn’t this…
Kurushimi had noticed what it was, it wasn’t that she was slow. She just seemed slow.
《Used skill: 『Evade Lvl. 1』!》
Her newest skill, ‘Evade’ had seemingly activated. This skill allowed her perception time and brain processing speeds to rapidly increase when an enemy attack was close.
-But that doesn’t make any sense! The enemy has to be within a very close radius of me for it to activate!
If ‘Evade’ had activated, it could only mean that this new canisfang was already within a 30cm ruler's length of her. But Kurushimi hadn’t heard or seen anything approaching when she had looked around. Even the pullumskāl made noise when it got close to her.
But even if Kurushimi couldn’t believe it, she also couldn’t confirm whether it was close or not. She couldn’t use her own eyes or turn her body to locate it as her own body movements were slowed for her as well.
With no other choice at hand, Kurushimi decided to just put her trust in her skill and took action…
-Time to jump forward and hope I can evade its attack by doing so!
Kurushimi, with her limited time, had come up with this master plan to just jump forward. She knew that it wasn’t in front of her, so her best chance of survival here was to just try and dodge the attack by jumping forward.
As she clenched her teeth and with all her strength in her body, she launched herself off her legs and onto the ground in front of her. Uncaring of whether she would stick the landing or not, she only wanted to get out of the spot she was previously standing.
Time seemed to suddenly go back to normal again as everything started moving fast again. At the same time, a large thud rang from behind Kurushimi where she had been standing a second before. The thud was shockingly loud to Kurushimi, considering the fact that this canisfang had snuck up on her instantly without a single sound.
She quickly turned onto her back to get a look at the canisfang, not bothering to get up first. From the ground, Kurushimi could see an incredibly large dust cloud. Whatever had jumped at her must have been incredibly heavy… And she was almost flattened by it.
The canisfang didn’t seem to have had a great landing either as it didn’t expect Kurushimi to actually notice it and dodge. Meaning it must be very confident in this ability and had probably used it before when hunting, and with a good success rate.
To be fair to this canisfang, it was right to be confident as Kurushimi hadn’t noticed it in the slightest bit. She just had a skill that did all the noticing for her. Slowly, the cloud of dust cleared up. The canisfang’s figure was gradually revealed to Kurushimi.
It was incredibly tall. She may be seeing it in a slightly exaggerated manner as she was currently lying on the ground but that didn’t change the fact that it was a massive fucker. Massive also in the sense of its muscles. Its muscles were abnormally large and densely formed all over its body. The previously known canisfang weak spot, its ‘weak neck’, was nowhere to be found.
The canisfang’s veins bulged and it huffed angrily. It seemed Kurushimi dodging, making it land on the ground abruptly, had pissed it off. It looked ready to kill and eat Kurushimi any second now. Its large claws and fangs were being flaunted brilliantly, so it definitely had the means to do so.
Kurushimi’s mouth was wide open at the entrance of the beast. This one was nothing like the tiny, little pullumskāl she had thought before. Before it charged her, she quickly went to check its stats.
