Non Sequitur (noun): something that does not logically follow
The little green bird had been staring at some plaques for an hour: new ones, with bold golden letters and polished metal, and old ones, with barely-readable names and a decent chance of blowing away in the next storm. Yet, with the amount of brilliance and pride displayed in each tablet’s list of accomplishments, the little bird didn’t feel impressed.
Why were there no plaques honoring ordinary moments?
Why did each plate tell the story of an ingenious figure of history, struggling in the bounds of their time, but not the worries of a passerby reading those stories? Why was the strategy of their grand schemes eternally recorded in metal, but not the dinner plan of a simple and happy family? Those achievements could never fulfill a life, for life was always filled with smaller memories and moments that follow no apparent logic. Without the modesty of a straight line, such ups and downs had no right to boast.
Determined, the little green bird fluttered away to seek out more scraps and fragments of life.
