One Week Later...
Sophia and I walked down the spiral wooden stairs with our black and blue suitcases. As we came down the stairs. Charles, the head butler, is an older Caucasian with a slick back messy, sliver gray-haired gentleman in his mid-seventies. Came to take our luggage. Sora: There's no need for that, Mr. Charles. I can carry the luggage. Charles: Allow an old-timer like me do this. Things will be less busy with you two gone. Sophia: Hopefully, you won't be too bored, sir.
Charles: Oh, not at all, my lady. I can take on more tasks now. Due of the absences of young master Sora. Young master Sora indeed made things a lot easier. Heck, he was basically the head butler and chef for these past three years. You're simply a tremendous help, Young master. Sora: Oh, stop it. This is way too much praise for me. Sophia: It's just his determination to impress others like you and me. So he can get esteemed praise. Sora: Is that so?! I gazed down upon her with a smug expression.
Sophia: Yes. She flicks her long blonde hair at me. Some of her hair reached my mouth. Sora: Was that necessary, Sofi? Sophia: I don't know what you're talking about. She says this as she strolls away from me to the front door. I caught up with her to the front door. As she opened the door, he went ahead of her to the trunk of the black SUV. Sora: Did you tell everyone bye? Sophia: Yeah, of course, I did, you damn dummy. You get on my nerves! I walked past her to see her face. Tears began forming in her ethereally blue eyes. Sora: Looks like someone is not trying to cry. Sophia: Shut the hell up!
As she winds up her hand and is about to slap the taste out of my mouth, Sophia's Latina mother with dark brown eyes, Veronica, came up behind her and cleared her throat. Veronica is sporting a white tee, skinny blue jeans, and black flip-flops, and for her jewelry, she is wearing a diamond necklace, a couple of diamond rings, and earrings. Also sporting a black knit hat on her black hair, long silky wavy with "I love Maina!" on it.
Veronica: Cálmate hija! No hay necesidad de lastimarte novio. Sophia: He's not my boyfriend! Sora: Ouch. So much pain. Veronica: Dices cosas que no quieres decir. Sora: She doesn't want to share how she really feels. Sophia stormed off in a hurry to the car's back seat with the car door open. Sophia: I will hate you a lot less if you get in the damn car! Sora: Oh, Dios mío! Can you at least be nicer about it? Sophia: El asno! May you please get in the damn car, la perra!? Sora: I'm not a donkey, and I'm not a slut.

Veronica: Se bueno, Sofia! Sora: Yeah, be nice! Sophia: If you don't get in this damn car by the time I count to three, I will make sure your time at Rowan Academy will be a hellish one! My madre can't save you! I went to the back seat of the car. Sophia gave me a mean look that could rival a junkyard dog. Then she slammed the car door.
Sora: Mi vida como estas? Sophia: I'm fine! Sora: What's wrong? Come on, what's bothering you? Sophia: You didn't notice what I picked out today. I finally got to pick my own clothes without your help. Sora: I didn't say anything about it? Sophia: No. Sora: I thought I did. I love the black tee and the jean jacket and the skinny black jeans you got on for starters. Sophia: Thanks. She starts cuddling me. Sora: But you should've let me work on your hair. I let out a sarcastic chuckle, then Sophia proceeds to pop me in the nose.
Veronica came to Sophia's door side, and Sophia rolled down the window. Veronica: Are you guys ready to go to Rowan Academy? Sophia & Sora: Yep. Veronica: Allow Sora to take care of you. Sophia: I will. Veronica: And don't be angry at him in the middle of the night and go somewhere. It's dangerous for royals to be out without any guards. Sora: Don't worry, she won't do that. I'll watch her like a hawk. Veronica: Ser honesto con el novio. You two will be alone together for a while, Sophia, have fun, bye! I'll talk to ya'll later! Veronica tapped the car in rapid succession; the car took off, and she ran back inside, waving us goodbye. I turn my attention to Sophia, and she's about to blow a gasket.
Sophia: She is doing the most! Sora: Well, she was telling the truth. It will be just us. Sophia: Quiet you! Sora: Do you have the full schedule for the exams? Sophia: Yes, I do. Sora: Can you go over it again? Sophia: Did you forget already?! I already told you about the first three. The fourth exam on the third day is to see what type of magic we can do. The fifth exam is to see if we can use a magic-powered vehicle. On the fourth day, the sixth exam will be the endurance test to see how long we can release our mana for a particular amount of time.
Sora: Then the seventh exam will see our I.Q scores. Sophia: So you were paying attention for once. The fifth day will be dedicated to one exam. That will be the eighth exam. That exam will be basically show our strongest spell in our grimoires. Then the sixth day. The ninth exam. We will be battling our examiners, and we have to win to move on to the final exam. The seventh day. The tenth exam will be a tournament against the seniors of Rowan Academy; if we beat a senior, we will pass automatically, and we get an all-access pass to the senior training facility. And we will be done with the exams. There will be six-hundred-twenty-seven mages trying to get into Rowan Academy. But I know we're a shoo-in. Sora: Yes, we are. And thanks for the recap, mi vida. I started patting her on the head.

One Hour Later...
We went to the Accordia's private airport in Scotland. We boarded the private jet. As we got settled into our light tan seats right next to each other. Sora: Why couldn't we just fly to Rowan Academy? Sophia: It's just a seven-hour flight. We can relax and play some games. And catch some Zs. Sora: I feel like I'm a sitting duck in this death trap. Sophia: What about cars? Sora: I'm used to cars. They're on land! And plus, I can meditate in the car if I want to! The private started it take off into the air. Sophia got on her black Ayephone 10s max with a sticker, with Sophia blowing a kiss on the back. And started scrolling on Instaspam.
Sora: Sofi, I'm kinda getting nervous. I'm not scared of heights or anything. I don't like flying on this death contraption. Her attention went from her phone to me. Sophia: Sky, if you're scared, you can hold my hand while we're in the air. (Sarcastic tone) Sora: You know what, I'm taking you up on your offer, mi vida. Sophia: Tu seria?! Sora: Yes, I'm am, now give me your hand. I reached for Sophia's hand, and it felt so soft. Sora: I just realized that you haven't been looking at my eyes when we talked for a few days now.
Sophia: What are you talking about, gilipollas!? She stuttered as she blushed. Sora: Why are you getting flustered? Sophia: That's my makeup, dumb-dumb! Sora: You don't wear makeup when I don't do it. Sophia: I am capable of doing my own makeup. Sora: I know you can, but you're too lazy for that. Especially this morning. Now tell me, what's with the lack of eye contact? Sophia: Well.. the reason is... She slouches in her seat while looking away from me. Sora: You're not even trying to look me in the eyes!? I nudged her chin to face me. Sophia quickly closed her eyes shut.
Hey, Sora, this is the perfect time to tell how you feel about her.
Shut up, Rin, go back to sleep.
Alright, I was trying to give you advice.
Sora: Sofi, open your eyes for me. Sophia: No! Sora: Will you stop shaking your head before I kiss you! Sophia: What?! Sophia's eyes are wide open with an anxious expression. Sora: I really love your eyes. You're so irresistible. It makes me want to... I slowly lean in and use one finger to make her look up; Sophia is ready to kiss, but her eyes are closed. I slowly get up from my seat and go to another seat across from her. Sophia: What are you waiting for? If you want me to open my eyes to kiss you, then I'll do it. Sophia opens her eyes slowly and sees no one next to her; then she looks around and sees me trying to hold in my laugh.
Sora: Hey there. Sofi, what were you doing? I laughed at her confused expression. Sophia: I hate with you a passion! You can rot in hell! Sora: Lo siento, Sofi. I had to teach you a lesson. Sophia: I'm going to kill you! She threw my phone at me, but I caught it. I started taunting her by waving my phone at her, then she proceeded to throw her phone at me, but I caught it one-handed. Sora: Relax, mi vida. I walked to her and put her in her pocket. Sophia: How am I supposed to relax after that!? Sora: Like this. I leaned forward, put both of my hands on both sides of her face, gently raised her face, and then kissed her soft lips.
Sora: Feel better? I slightly let out a mischievous grin. Sophia: I hate you so damn much! She has a slightly annoyed look on her and has a hint of duppers' delight. Sora: So you don't like the kiss I gave you? Sophia: I loved it! No, I meant to say it was decent. She's trying her best to keep her calm and trying her best to not look at me. I sat right next to her.
Let's see, pretending to be scared of this damn plane will get me, somewhere.
Sora: Sofi, can you sit on my lap because I'm too scared right now? I tried to hide my fear, but I can't take it anymore. Sophia: You expect me to comfort you after that stunt you just pulled?! Why should I comfort you?! She began pulling my ear for a few seconds with an irradiated look on her. Sora: Because I'm a good person that needs you right now. Sophia: Fine, only for a little bit. Got it!?

Grim Beginnings
For most, ghosts and monsters were fantasy. For Tessa Byrne-Reyes, they were a constant in her daily life as a reaper. The legendary gods and creatures of mythology were, to her, historical figures. From a young age, she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, possessing what she saw as a curse but what her family considered a gift. It was her birthright, to use her abilities to guide the deceased to the afterlife of an eternity in peace or in torment. Her classmates viewed her as "the fainting girl" who would pass out in the middle of a lesson with inexplicable injuries. She experienced each death in the town of Belmont Falls, from the mundane to the gruesome. A gunshot wound in the gut, broken ribs, her heart ceasing to beat for several minutes. No one understood what caused these incidents but over the years, she gained a reputation for being abnormal. While Tessa is the freak of Belmont Falls, Fin Belmont, the charming rebel and son of the richest man in town, is her polar opposite. Knowing each other for years but never saying more than a dozen words between them, one night changes everything, thrusting them into each other's unfamiliar and daunting worlds. Together, with the help of her best friend/his ex-girlfriend Elena, they begin to unravel secrets about their town and their pasts, learning that some secrets are better left buried and grudges can be held for centuries.
