《Solitude's Requiem》A Curious Explanation

“Well, my dear foolish boy. Let's address the elephant in the room, shall we? You died one way or another and found yourself reincarnated as a lesser shade demon.”
“What do you me…”
“WHERE is this place, you might wonder.”
He says with a lot of bravado, showing that he doesn't want to get interrupted. 'What does this man love more? Telling shocking statements without explaining or just his own voice?'
“This is the demonic realm as I said earlier, and no I don't mean your world's depiction of what hell would be. As I said, you're reincarnated and thus still alive..... Are you listening? HEY!”
“I am, but you YELLING when I have this bursting headache doesn't really help.”
“Oh, that don't worry it will leave very shortly, it's just your body acclimating to its newfound magic capabilities.”
“I can do magic?”
“Of course, every demon is capable of doing magic, after all. You just have to know how to do it. But don't worry, we still have a long trip ahead of us, so there's plenty of time to learn.”
“We're going somewhere?”
“Yes, we should probably go towards the capital if you truly wish to learn more of this realm.”
“This place has a capital?”
“Yes, the capital is called Lucile's Light, It's called after the first devil Luciel.” He says with a smug smile on his face now that I'm actually engaged in the conversation.
“It's a city where the strong have free rulership over the laws. Get strong enough, and you can do whatever you want, but if not. Well, then it wouldn't be surprising to get enslaved or just outright killed.”
I visibly shudder at those possibilities
“No worries, my dear young….” These are the words he says before pausing for an awkward amount of time.
“I don't know your name, do I? What type of person does not give his name when starting an enlightened conversation!!!”
“You never asked.”
Cornelius's smirk when he was talking quickly dissipated, and now the only thing remaining is an annoying glare.
“….”
“I used to be called Edwin.” I say, feeling a rush of unwelcome emotions as soon as I utter that name.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
