《Alexander Creed: Re-Life》Chapter 196: Calvin and Hobbes II

Of course, with Monday of April 22 getting some bits of traction to the Calvin and Hobbes comic, it was only a matter of time for things to grow and develop.
Still, the Creed endeavor at the comics part of the newspaper was bleak and uninteresting for the most part. Even the newspaper who were on board and expecting great effects were a bit disappointed with what they found out.
Compared to other Alexander Creed-led projects that became the talks of many interested folks, 'Calvin and Hobbes' was just not up to the usual standard.
Creed fans were not pumped, the comic industry was not boiling, and the Creed enemies hadn't noted of Alexander's leap into the comics field yet.
It was hard to pinpoint the reason but everyone in the know can tell that it mostly points to the very different and detached connections between the mediums.
Comic books and comic strips have "comic" in their names but their audience mostly doesn't overlap for the most part.
Nerds and the now-nerdified have become quite the number but that didn't mean that they were people who flipped through their text-heavy and grim news reporting papers.
Of course, some fans and readers did come across the comic but they were too few to make great waves.
These were just Day One crowds and happenings though and there were still next ones to count on.
-----
April 23, 1985. Tuesday. Calvin and Hobbes' Day 2.
The boy, Calvin, asked his dad for advice about how to deal with caught tigers. His dad tells Calvin to stuff it, however, it was misunderstood as another form of "stuffing".
Hobbes the Tiger had the time of his life by being 'stuffed' with tuna sandwiches.
With bits of hunting and taxidermy jokes, the new comic strip elicited some chuckles and increased lore to it.
It had to be noted that the noticing crowd of Creed fans from Day One told their friends and the 'Calvin and Hobbes' readers grew along.

April 24, 1985. Wednesday. Calvin and Hobbes' Day 3.
Dad is angry at his son for making a ruckus and being way past bedtime. Calvin blames Hobbes but it is revealed that the captured talking Tiger was just a stuffed animal.
When Dad is out of the way, the stuffed Hobbes becomes animated again as the duo bickered on whose fault it was that they were scolded.
There weren't many humorous points here but the readers were intrigued by the weirdness of Hobbes. Is he Calvin's imaginative masterpiece or is he a truly magical one that only shows his true form to Calvin?
As readers pondered on that, their numbers grew as well due to the fact that Day One and Day Two readers had coalesced to grow even more for Day 3.
------
April 25, 1985. Thursday. Calvin and Hobbes' Day 4.
The lore about Hobbes' truth was explored some more as Calvin brought his tiger teddy to school.
Of course, the teacher asked the boy to keep the "tiger" in the locker but Calvin is adamant that he might "suffocate".
Given permission by the teacher to keep Hobbes under his chair, Calvin grinned as it turns out that when he takes a test, the animated Hobbes would coach him with cheat codes.
Ingenuity and tricks were explored here and the readers saw the fun of having someone like Hobbes around.
For this Day 4 Crowd, Calvin and Hobbes had practically blown up to great proportions as a new comic book release is just happening and everyone who knew had told everyone who didn't.
Calvin and Hobbes grew in popularity and everyone knew that Alexander Creed was st it again.
The comic book industry and Creed fans always noted "'...by Alexander Creed'" to be in comic books and only in comic books.
They hadn't really expected that they would see it in a comic strip and circulated it in select small newspapers that none of them had subscribed to.

Nonetheless, that state may not last for long as the comic book industry was in excitement about this fact and other newspapers want this growing sensation to be a part of their pages.
The sudden rise and treatment in only 4 days came as a surprise for Alexander who was pessimistically expecting to see Calvin and Hobbes struggle for a year or so.
The Day 4 Crowd must have been truly big to kickstart a daily comic strip's attention to the same level as Creed's single issues.
It might even be better as newsstands and the newspaper market was infected by whatever Creed effects that only usually happen in the comic book stores, fan gatherings, and schools.
------
April 26, 1985. Friday. Calvin and Hobbes' Day 5.
For this publication, the event was a much milder version of the bedtime scolding. With Hobbes being "teddy-fied" around others, Calvin could ask his dad to "say" goodnight to his friend.
Dad could only comply with his son's wishes and after he was gone, teddy-fied became animated Hobbes to complain about the lack of story and smooches for tiger him.
The people who followed this comic strip had pretty much gotten an idea of what everything is mostly about and enjoyed it for what it is.
For normal newspaper readers, this is a new thing to look out for besides all the Peanuts, Garfield, and whatnots that the comics section had in store.
For Creed fans and comic nerds, it was like a daily log from the famous and elusive Alexander Creed. Mr. Creed had finally heard their complaints about how his weekly releases weren't enough for them and decided to grace them with daily fun and entertainment to look out for.
For the Anti-Creed Alliance, they were getting up to speed with things but by the time they had already processed stuff, they were aggrieved and irritated.
Creed Comics nay... Alexander Creed was way too tricky!
They've quieted down on the media publications but the boy practically took this chance to rise up from it and take over whilst they were somewhat "away" on media silence.
What's even trickier is that the boy had long laced this 'Calvin and Hobbes' story from that accursed Ace Attorney comic. It is as if the Creeds knew that they'll be retreating from the media at some point and integrated a comic strip to be introduced to the crowd in advance.
The Anti-Creed Alliance could only hope that there was a genius adviser that was helping the boy decide things out.
If it was the boy's own discretion for the entire multi-layered Ace Attorney and 'Calvin and Hobbes' double whammy, then that would be terrifying!
----
In any case, the days of April did tick on and so did the newspaper publications that produced new 'Calvin and Hobbes' content along with it.
The following on the comic strip grew and Alexander's big goals for such a relatively simple project may have already been achieved.
It wasn't in one fell swoop but it was a step-by-step process with solid growth to back it all up.
Of course, there was no doubt in everyone's mind that the future is still long and the upcoming days have Calvin and Hobbes to fill it up while growings its influence in society as well.
In any case, a comic strip may be on its way to achieving many things beyond what it was initially plundered from and what the plunderer intended it to be.
