While we are on the topic of favouritism, let us talk about the other class that seemed to be favoured by the developers and also locked into a certain race. Like really… there are 3 race-specific classes which makes sense lorewise, but there are two of them which are overly flexible in their roles.

I cannot say which one is more favoured between mystics and shamans. The thing is, unlike shamans, in order for mystics to switch their roles, they need to go through a gruelling process of removing a known beast form before getting a new one. However, a mystic could have two forms readily available at once.

Yes, they can change from a spellcaster to a freaking tank on a whim. Rosdan was one of the craziest examples of this. I mean, yes, he took the Revitalization path for his svannire form that focuses on healing and also a little bit from Nature’s Wrath to get some nice disabling abilities from that offensive spellcaster-focused talent. But, when pushed to a corner, he will turn into a freaking huge boar and trample over you to safety before turning back to svannire.

At least the shamans have one role at a time, not two roles.

Though, to be fair, if a mystic is not really focused on one role, their capabilities on those roles are hampered. It is advisable for them to focus on a single form with the other form as support. Just like Rosdan who focuses more on healing as a svannire and only uses his boar form in some situations. The other option is to balance two forms that have a good synergy between them, named Harmony.

For example a lycanthrope could have Harmony with healing focused svannire that makes their wolf form’s howl able to heal while their svannire form would have some additional beneficial effects when healing. This, instead of hampering, would give a nice benefit and encourage rapid switching between forms to achieve optimum result, which might overshadow those that only focus on one form. However, it is to be noted that this Harmony approach is difficult to master.

Let us see if my childhood friend could master this Harmony thing when he really choose bjornur.

Oh, anyway, other than the two mentioned svannire paths earlier, other forms only have one path for each. Cunning Swiftness for panthers, Mountain Endurance for boar, Wild Cries for lycanthrope, and bears got a cooler name for their path with Survival of the Fittest.
