《Let's Play: Chronicles of Zurefgar》Intermision: Rogue

After the issues I mentioned earlier regarding wizards, aiming, and ranged attack related stuff… It is not a wonder that rogues overshadow hunters in terms of popularity.
Don’t get me wrong, hunters are still very popular until people realise it is actually not easy to play. Rogues on the other hand, though still very hard to play, are being helped by their superior agility that directly affects the player’s capability in terms of their nimbleness. Not to mention, they are viewed as the cooler one by people.
I mean, they sure are flashy. Just look at Flick.
Rogues’ main function definitely revolves around dealing damage, either burst damage or prolonged damage. They have some utilities as well, but usually not as much as hunters do. Though, it does not mean they lack tricks that can be used in a fight. Those who pick Subtlety really know how to mess with their opponents' attacks.
Other than Subtlety and Assault, which Flick had picked, rogues had two remaining path choices which are Assassination and Bloodthirst. As its name implied, Assassination focuses more on… well, assassinations. Generally it means they have stronger attacks from stealth mode and more potent poisons applied to their weapons.
Bloodthirst is not that popular, but it does have its share of popularity among Subtlety and, especially, Assault mains. This talent focuses more on stamina management and more raw survivability, making a rogue able to fight for much longer. Usually, those who go for the Assault or Subtlety path would want to take this path as backup.
Though rogues could use a variety of weapons, people tend to stick with daggers or swords at most, even if they have some racial specific weapon. However, like Flick, there are some rogues that went out of the norm and performed exceptionally well.

Rielle, one of the best rogues out there, actually uses a scimitar-like sword on main hand and a buckler shield on offhand, making her character become a pseudo-swashbuckler.
I even once saw an orcish rogue who wields a two-handed axe by utilising their racial passive. Yes… the person mained Assassination path to deal massive sneak attack damage when breaking stealth.
Creative… very, very creative.
