《Bladed Warrior (Shonen Light Novel)》Chapter Negative 1

~
Rain began to pour down on a dark and cloudy day. Cerra watched as Crest and the man with the kitsune mask clashed. Metal met metal. Even with his giant sword, Crest was having trouble with the man. The guy was talented. Fierce even. His double-edged knives which he held in each hand appeared to only be normal weapons. But in the kitsune man’s possession they were much more than that. They were objects of death. Crest slashed with a downward strike. It was swift, but not fast enough to keep up with the kitsune man. Sparks flew as he blocked Crest’s sword elegantly from the bottom up. This was no normal man; he was the first opponent in a long time that was on par with Crest. No. Almost better than him.
Describing the situation as ‘trouble’ would have been an understatement.
Cerra grew worried. “Crest! We still haven’t done what we set out to do! SO DON’T DIE!!” She screamed to the top of her lung, unable to do anything but watch. Though the weight of Crest sword was upon him, the man with kitsune mask wasn’t bowing. Somehow, he had the strength to keep going. In fact, he didn’t look bothered at all. Suddenly smiling, he started to deflect Crest’s Dog Killer.
Damn, Crest thought, am I going to lose to this guy?
Crest’s blade raised, and he started to lose control. He was being pushed back. He was losing. Death had never seemed so close. Seconds later an opening was made! Without warning Crest’s sword went flying up and out of his hands. He was without a weapon. Seeing the opportunity to strike the man in the kitsune mask struck. Ten inches of the man’s left knife went through Crest’s abdomen. Blood, actual blood began to pour from Crest’s stomach. Beginning to feel cold, he gasped for air. Pain seared his body. The man in the kitsune mask laughing pulled his knife out causing more crimson stuff to flow. He stood proud over his defeated enemy that fell to ground, no different than the rain that fell from the sky.

“CREEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTT!” Cerra’s blood curdling scream echoed throughout the forest. The forest itself even seemed to howl.
“Heh. What were you thinking challenging me so boldly?” The man in the kitsune mask sneered. “You’re just a second-rate sorcerer and an even worse swordsman. You did your best, but I’ll take care of your little friend from here on out. She’ll fetch a pretty high price for the master.”
“No….” A withered gasp escaped Crest as he lay clutching his body. Cerra was in trouble and there was nothing he could do. Dammit.
Is this really where my journey ends?

A Wish
This is a story where there are no heroes and no villains. This is a tale about revenge, despair, and hope. This is a story where the truth is constantly hidden deep beneath the surface, and nothing is ever as it initially appears. The world is a stage. Every character has their part to play before their exit. They are actors, dancing on a stage set for them while searching for the truth behind the façade. Only time will tell whether they will be able to escape their predestined fate, to search for their happy end, or whether the promised end is nothing more than, a wish. Author's Note: Update will be very unpredictable as I travel quite a bit for my work.

The miner (Jeffrey Sokolov) and his Artificial Intelligence (Elizabeth - both the ship and AI were named after Jeffrey's late wife,) outsmart the pirates, capture them and bring them back to the Earth/Moon station - where they attempt to turn them over to the Naval ship, Wanigan. However Wanigan is in the process of mutiny. The executive officer of Wanigan sends a small squad of Marines under command of a petty officer. The petty officer realizes an opportunity, convinces Sokolov to join her cause, and together with the AI (Elizabeth) re-take the Navy ship, and restore her captain to command. In order to perform these acts, Sokolov and the ship Elizabeth are drafted into Navy Reserve. The captain of the Navy ship Wanigan re-recruits Jeffrey to act in a secret capacity, he is given an almost unlimited credit, the squad of Marines that came aboard to arrest Jeffrey, and the petty officer. Piracy and corruption are overly common, but Jeffrey, his team and his AI defeat the enemy, only to have it resurface shortly afterward. Aliens from several surrounding regions have found Earth and the solar system to be a rich source of mineral wealth. They secretly tried to manipulate humans to doing their will, and Jeffrey discovered that they were the organizers and force behind the piracy. Jeffrey and the navy take on the new menace, but new tools, including faster-than-light travel become available. Jeffrey and Elizabeth improve on the Navy's technical innovations, incorporate alien technology into their ship, and continue to dominate the region infested with aliens with somewhat superior and somewhat inferior technology. This is the saga of a technically sophisticated man, his smart and loyal artificial intelligence, and the people he surrounds himself with.
