Chapter 137: The Red Dragon Dignitaries
He would not, Zen thought to himself. Although him and his father did not see eye to eye on most things, he knew they at least shared the same hate for the Red Dragon Sect. they had killed his brother, his son!
And yet, the doors opened and two powerful people for the Red Dragon Sect walked in, accompanied by Jao. One was a slender woman, leading the way while another followed behind her Zen clenched his fists in anger, his nails digging into his palm so hard that it threatened to draw blood as he glared at their red ana black uniforms.
His father walked forward to greet them, he and the dignitaries exchanging polite bows. At that Zen felt a hand grab the scruff of his collar and yank him away. He was dragged into a dark room. A blue light emerged, with crackling electricity, illuminating the two faces in the room.
“Ding Wu!” Zen said, his voice a furious whisper. “What the hell do you think your doing?”
“My job, protecting the Wang family… protecting you.”
Zen’s scowl softened in confusion.
“You didn’t know, didn’t you? Still?” Ding Wu smiled sadly at Zen. “You were emitting quite the killing intent there. I doubt the Red Dragon stooges would appreciate getting greeted with that.”
Zen made a strangled sound from his throat and smashed the floor with his fist. “This dumb killing intent won’t let me be!”
“Calm down, Master Wang. It can be controlled but it starts by controlling your emotions.” Ding Wu said. “Like your father is doing now.”
“Don’t tell me about that coward!” Zen said. “He is entertaining them! Them, the people who killed my brother.”
“Don’t be a fool!” Ding Wu said.

“W-What?” Zen was taken aback by the tone Ding Wu had taken with him. It was the first time the man had ever spoken to him like that.
“Your father is showng great wisdom now by choosing his battles wisely.” Ding Wu said. “He is smiling with the devil to protect his family. Don’t judge him harshly because of that.”
What Ding Wu said made sense to Zen but it did nothing to quell his anger. The door open and the two looked at the streaming light in surprise as Ding Wu extinguished his electrical light. They both breathed a sigh of relief.
“Shibi,” Zen said as the scorch ape climbed to him. Zen hugged the creature, his anger lessening. He looked at Ding Wu, “Fine, I’ll try to keep my killing intent under control by staying in my room.”
Ding Wu nodded. “Thank you, Master Wang.”
Zen stayed in his room. Shibi meditated while he studied the Half Step Meditation technique. There was a knock on the door. He opened the door.
“Ding Wu?”
Ding Wu looked worried, “Your grandfather has summoned you.”
Zen looked at him in confusion. He stepped out the door and Shibi immediately joined him. “Why would they send you, a guard, to do a servants job?”
“They did send a maid but I volunteered.” Ding Wu said. “In order to warn you, the Red Dragon stooges are still here.”
There was a slight rise in killing intent.
“Careful, Master Wang.”
“I’m doing it again, aren’t I?” Zen said, as he brought the killing intent to heel.
“Remember, the key to controlling it is to be aware of when you’ll most likely be emitting it.” Ding Wu said. “A killing intent should mostly be hidden, for it reveals too much to your enemy. So hide it.”

They entered a living room, overlooking the yard.
“I will leave you here,” Ding Wu said and Zen nodded to him in thanks.
“Ah, there he is.” Jao said, gesturing to Zen who entered the room with Shibi following behind. “This is my daughter’s grandson. Excuse his garb,” Jao said, his voice laced in annoyance, “his father dressed him and as such it is hard for commoners to grow out of their ways.”
Zen had put no special attention to his clothes. He purposefully did it to spite the dignitaries. He clasped his hands and gave them a respectful greeting.
“You must be proud of your mother, boy.” One of them said. She was in a red and black robe, with the Red Dragon Sect symbol on her left chest, a red dragon breathing black fire. The woman turned her thin face to Wang Ton. “Although the opinions relating to the Wang’s is in question, what with the rumours involving you and your other son’s past crimes, it seems your family has many redeeming qualities, such as the exploits of Wang Lin and your connection to the Jaos.”
“Yes, but really, we Wangs should not be judged on silly rumours.” Zen’s father said. “And that extends to… the crimes committed by our members. We did not support our son in his misguided crimes.”
“True. True.” The other Red Dragon Sect member said.
Zen clenched his fists. He could feel his killing intent boiling when he heard such remarks about his brother. “Father, may I speak with you?”
“What?” Zen’s father said, his voice clearly holding back some anger.
“Please father, it is urgent.”
“Outside!” he said curtly before turning to his guests. “Please, excuse us.”
Zen followed his father outside, Shibi climbing on his shoulder.
Once they were out of earshot in the grassy backyard, Zen’s father turned with a flurry. “How dare you interrupt me? Do you know who these people are?”
“Yes, I do know who they are.” Zen said. “But I do not know who you are!” He snapped at the last part. “How can you say all those things about my Wang Hun? He never committed any crimes!”
Shibi rubbed Zen’s head in an attempt to calm him.
Wang Ton shook his head, a sound like laughter coming from behind his black mask. “You are a fool! Just like your brother.”
Zen’s rage boiled over and so did his killing intent.
“You dare show me killing intent?” Wang Ton said as he raised his hand to slap Zen. His hand was stopped when Zen grabbed it and punched his father in the gut with all his rage, sending him stumbling back.
Zen did not back down after the punch, glaring at his father with his killing intent freely flowing wth no restraint.
“You would dare lay hands o your own father?” Wang Ton said as he produced a black polished storage stone. He touched it and a shield, made of iron appeared on his arm. “Seems I need to teach you your place, Wang Zen.”
And with that Wang Ton attacked!

Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. Trying to go a little more SciFi and alternate reality this time. I am not entirely sure how this fiction will turn out. And I am not sure on the tags either. They may change. Bear with it.
