《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 150 The Church Part 3

The soldiers don't really worry me, but I can't kill them quietly. This should mean there is another hero here somewhere, I need to see them to decide if they need to die or not. There is also a chance the hero left his troops here and went to the main church to talk to the leaders.
My main question is why, the hero should be out searching for me, so why is he here? Maybe I will find out when I meet him, but for now I just need to slaughter everyone. The soldiers have sentries out around their camp, and the church has sentries around the village.
If I attack either group of sentries the odds are I will end up fighting everyone and the village might suffer in the battle. So instead I sneak past all the sentries and head for the church first. Killing the soldiers and priests is fairly easy, once I free the women they held captive I have them quietly gather the villagers.
Once the villagers are gathered I have them lock themselves in the church out of harm's way. Now that the village is empty I start sneaking around killing anyone I can without raising the alarm. Once one manages to scream and the alarm is raised I give up sneaking and charge into the soldier's camp.
'Summon Bones!'
"Bones, kill them all!"
Bones and I charge into the soldiers swinging our swords, within an hour we are the only ones left standing. No sign of the hero anywhere, he must be in the central church. I let the villagers know that it is safe now, and that they can loot the soldiers, then Bones and I head south.
The priests I have dealt with so far haven't even managed to get a spell off, but I'm expecting the ones in the main church to be more dangerous. If the hero fights with them it could end up being really troublesome. I think I need to use a different strategy for the big church, trying to deal with all of them at once isn't a good idea.

After three hours running we get close enough to see the central village, and the big church. Although, from its size it would be more accurate to call it a cathedral, it is a massive building of stone. The main building is four stories with towers and spires coming off of it.
The village around is about the size of four of the smaller ones combined and just as poor looking. It angers me to see such a poor village surrounding that massive and expensive building. There are six roads leading into the village and each one has a guard post manned by fifteen soldiers.
"Okay, Bones, you attack that one and I will attack this one. Kill them all and make it noisy. When you see reinforcements coming, return here and we will wipe them out together."
Bones chatters and nods at me then heads off towards his guard post as I do the same. The guards see me coming but that doesn't really help them. Soon screams and blood fill the air as I wade into them with Blitz.
After I kill all fifteen guards I wait around for a few minutes before I see more soldiers running my way. Once I am sure they have spotted me I turn and run back to where I told Bones to meet me. When I get there I find Bones is already there and surrounded by soldiers.
There are about fifty soldiers surrounding Bones, and another forty or so following me, we got more of a reaction than I thought we would. I easily cut my way to Bones and we start working together to kill all the soldiers. Even when the soldiers chasing me join in they still are no match for the two of us.
Bones has gained a level!
The bodies of the soldiers start piling up around us making our footing uncertain, and the ground is quickly turning to mud because of all the blood. I feel kind of bad for the soldiers, I am so much stronger than them that it feels like I am being a bully. But the church attacked my people first so it is their own fault.

With my strength Blitz can cut through armor and even shields like it was made of paper. In this crowded situation I am killing three or four soldiers every time I swing. Bones is not quite as fast at killing as I am, but he is still killing a soldier every few seconds.
Surprisingly, the soldiers do not back down or try to run away, they are screaming and cursing so I know they are not being controlled. Yet they seem to have no care for their own lives whatsoever. They must be religious fanatics, that is the only answer I can come up with.
By the time the last church soldier falls, Bones and I are standing atop a mound of corpses. Even when it came down to the very last soldier he didn't pause before throwing himself at us. They have to be religious zealots, nothing else explains such suicidal stupidity.
I sit down on top of the mound to catch my breath, the smell of death doesn't really bother me. As I look at the village I see quite a bit of activity, the soldiers at the other guard posts have retreated to the church. I am surprised to see more king's soldiers gathering in front of the church, is there a second hero here?
Soldiers keep gathering, soon the hundred king's soldiers are joined by another hundred church soldiers. Looks like they are going to throw everything they have left at us in an attempt to overwhelm us with numbers. I must admit I am surprised, I thought the next attack would be to use the hostages against us.
As the soldiers start marching towards us I can make out three figures leading them. One is in black robes and the other two are in tight fitting clothing and have swords. All three have very dark auras, but I can tell the two with swords are the heroes.
Meaning the one in robes is a priest, but I don't see either goddesses mark. So definitely a fake priest, meaning I won't get in trouble for killing him. All the priests have been fake so far, I've checked every time to make sure I don't kill a real priest by accident.
Then again I don't see how a real priest could live here, the fake priests would either corrupt him or kill him. But I will keep checking just to be safe, I don't want to hurt someone loyal to the goddesses. For now I don't have to worry about that, I just have to kill a fake priest, two heroes, and almost two hundred soldiers.
"Bones, when they come you keep the soldiers busy. I will kill the priest and the heroes then help you."
Bones nods and readies his sword and shield, as the soldiers start to fan out to surround us. As the fake priest gets closer I can see that he is muttering and holding something in his hands. The two heroes are flanking him and have drawn their swords, now that they are closer I can tell they are definitely twins.
Priest shouts "In Krenocia's name, I command you, DIE!!!"

Living With Magic
Arthur, a young magician, is struggling with crippling social anxiety. The issue has reached a point where he likely won't graduate from University. Reaching a crossroads, he must decide whether to try and return to a family he despises or make his own path in the world. Is the magical power he has actually beneficial in the real world? Authors Note: I'm terrible at writing a synopsis, but over time I hope to write a better one. One of my favorite series of books is the Magicians by Lev Grossman and I hope to follow that same line of thinking within my story. How would a society built around magic actually exist and is power and magic actually as great as other stories make it out to be? The story and characters will be completely original and I will try to update the story on a regular basis. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
