《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 301 Escaping the City Part 3

Seeing all the driders that are about to reach the walls of this house I quickly jump across to the roof that the bridge I cut came from. There are slightly less driders on this roof so I do my best to cut through them quickly. Considering how many driders are gathered behind me, if I can get away fast enough maybe I can break through their lines and get some space to move.
Now I am less focused on killing them and more focused on just getting past them. Although, if I swing Blitz I automatically swing with the intent to kill so most of the driders end up dead anyway. I only end up killing half the driders on the roof, but Kechara kills two more with her wind blades.
Making it to the far side of the roof I quickly choose another roof and jump across. I notice most of the undead are still heading towards the house for a few seconds before they change direction. That should mean there is a delay between me doing something new and them getting new orders.
Since that is the case I stop trying to go towards the wall and instead change directions a few times. The more I change directions the more the undead fall behind me, each time they continue in the wrong direction for a few seconds. Whatever is controlling them seems to only be able to give limited instructions, which helps me out a lot.
Changing directions again I jump onto a roof that is in the direction of the city center. I watch carefully and as soon as the undead receive new orders and turn the same way I reverse my course. Jumping back to the roof I just left I easily cut down the two driders that were still alive.

This gives me a clear path and I am able to cross two more roofs in the direction of the city wall before the undead change direction. Now that I have a lead I increase my speed to the max to try and get ahead of them. With the driders all behind me I am able to cover about half the distance to the city wall before I encounter another problem.
Suddenly sensing danger I stop as quickly as I can and just as I stop I see a bunch of spider threads spread across the roof in front of me. Quickly tracing one of the threads I realize it is an elaborate net trap, if I touch any of the threads the whole thing would ensnare me. This doesn't look like the work of the driders but a quick look around doesn't reveal any enemies.
Riping up a section of roof I toss it onto the trap, the trap triggers and wraps up the debris I threw. A few seconds later several spiders come out of hiding and move to the trap, they are about the size of a pony. They don't look like they are undead, yet they set a trap for me so they are on the same side.
Stepping forward I surprise them and managed to stab one before the rest vanish. It dies with a shrill scream which is painful to hear, but it is definitely alive. So whatever is controlling the driders is probably also controlling these spiders.
Moving past the trap I jump to the next roof, but my speed has dropped considerably since I have to check for traps on each roof. Glancing back I can see the driders are catching up, as I expected they move pretty fast on the ground. At this rate I have a minute, two at most, before they catch up, but they are on the ground and I am still on a roof.

Although, I expect them to move ahead of me to try and cut me off from reaching the city wall. If they can get ahead of me enough to have time to climb to the roofs then I will either have to fight through or change directions again. For now I continue straight while watching their progress and keeping an eye out for more traps.
At my next jump I have three options but I can see traps on two of them so I jump to the third. It is only after I jump that I realize they are herding me towards the south. I can now see the main street that goes from the west gate to the city center.
It is to my left and is far too wide for me to jump across, they are trying to herd me that way so they can limit my movement. I can't see anything in the street but I am guessing if I jump down there will be something waiting for me. Whoever or whatever is controlling everything has a decent level of intelligence to come up with this strategy.
Seeing another similar situation ahead of us I stop long enough to rip up a piece of roof before continuing. As I jump to one of the trapped roofs I throw the chunk ahead of us to trigger the trap. As soon as the spiders spring out of hiding both Kechara and I throw wind blades at them.
We manage to kill six of them this time and land safely on the roof, allowing us to move further north and avoid being herded. The screams of the dying spiders are followed by cries of anger from the driders, and since they don't show emotions it has to be the anger of the controller. Knowing that its anger is getting the better of it makes me smile, considering how much trouble it is causing me it's only fair that I return the favor.
The driders at this point have managed to get ahead of us and I have lost track of a lot of them. They are probably either climbing onto roofs ahead of me or setting up some other kind of trap. Either way I will just have to deal with it when it happens, there is only about a quarter of the way left to the wall.

Ortus (Old Version)
This is an old version of the heavily edited and rewritten Ortus This is the story of a woman named Riza. Riza is a woman who wakes up in a forest with nothing, remembering nothing, and on the cusp of death. The only thing she has is a weapon stuck in her side and, after a tangle with a wild boar, something called 'life aspect'. Little does she know that life magic is considered a dead-end branch and is largely outlawed across the world. None of this matters to her, of course. For one, even if someone tried to tell her, she doesn't know the language. Number two, have you heard about the sunk cost fallacy? Riza is not some chosen one, nor is given any boon she doesn't deserve. Instead, she's smart and methodical, and experiements on how to maximise every opportunity, every ability, presented to her. She doesn't just take things at face-value but instead explores just what limitations there are. This often involves maths.

For a Change - A Slice of Life LitRPG
Change is constant. Starting over without your own memories? Connected to some System AI? Probably a pretty big change. Join Monday March as she attempts to deal with these changes and many others in a fantasy future with magic, monsters, AIs, and dating. Notes / Expectations: - About the writing style - Almost always First Person past tense (aside from the prologue), Chapters are short by design. Also, I'm not rushing to the conclusion, it's there, I'm in no hurry. - Genres - Fantasy is the most obvious umbrella, Action, Comedy, Romance, Psychological and everything else that makes a character into a comprehensive person will likely crop up, but won't be the main focus, at least not for hundreds of pages - Tags - Dungeon, Gender Bender (closer to gender themes), Post Apocalyptic and a few others might be a valid fit, but anything that doesn't fit most chapters will be set aside tag wise for now. Possible updates in the future if needed. - Content Warnings - While I want to write this story as accessible and friendly, sometimes a narrative gets messy, and sometimes people are naked, or get hurt either physically or mentally. Best to be prepared. As for cussing, well, our main character will avoid it. - Initial posting schedule is once a week, updates to the schedule will be posted here or in chapter notes.
