《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 23 Glorious Volt Shot!

I reached into one of my prepared pouches and pulled out a yellow ball.
I loaded it into the Slingshot as fast as I could and let it fly.
As soon as I let go of the sling pouch, I felt a small tingly sensation in my hands and saw an amount of energy be released that felt like I had lit up an electric light in the dark. The brilliance momentarily blinded me.
It was Voltshot!
In that moment of blindness, I failed to see that something had hurled right at me. And immediately I felt a deep pain in my chest. I had been pierced.
“Arrrgggghh!!!” I couldn't help but scream in pain.
But I had little time to tend to my wounds, if I did I would die. As soon as I could see again I moved my vision towards my aggressors and reached for another one of my pockets. I was still breathing although erratically, there was no time to waste.
In that momentary of blindness, I could lose precious time, and get wounded again or worse die, I can't afford that again, I have to get a different shot.
But before I could regain my bearings I was completely caught off guard.
The moment I laid eyes on my assaulters I almost fell to the ground. There they laid, dead, on the ground, with a hole the size of a head through their chest. I didn’t know what to think. I had no idea Volt Shot was this strong. This was definitely stronger than Gale Shot.
I had no time to put my thoughts together before I heard a ferocious scream.
“You miserable Rat! I'll crush your head with my bare hands for daring to trick us DIE!!!
I looked towards the direction of the noise and saw a large man with humongous hands swinging a spiked ball and chain at astounding speed.

That definitely didn’t look like something I could live!
I immediately finished reaching for the ammo and began to load, instead of one, I loaded many.
It was a few of the metal pellets I had collected. I couldn’t afford to aim so I was going for a spread.
Seeing that I was preparing to shoot, the big-handed man let the spiked ball loose at an outstanding speed, I didn’t think twice and just let the wall of pellets fly.
Just as I was gonna do my best to try and dodge I heard the sounds of collisions, and then a crashing sound behind me. Somehow the small pellets had deflected the trajectory of the ball.
How much power could this Slingshot unleash!
It wasn't the time to ponder, I learned my lesson already, I immediately summoned all my courage and pulled the spear out of my chest to agonizing pain. There was no other way it was impeding my movements too much.
The guy must've thrown it out of desperation, after getting pierced by Voltshot. He must've not had much strength left, even though it wasn't a small wound it could have definitely been worse.
I then reached for the bag of nails and observed what my opponent's next actions would be. Before I could set my vision on him, I heard a loud grunt and then a thud. I looked and saw the man struggling on the ground, a couple of feet behind where he once stood.
Some of the pellets hit! Yes, success!
Now was my chance. What do I do?
Do I run away or finish him off?
Too late! The man began to regain his foothold. From where I was, I could see where I had injured him. I had hit him in his right hand, top left shoulder, and lower part of his thigh. Bloody holes were proof that the damage done was not light.

Still, he was still alive and standing back up, this guy was definitely not weak.
I can't let him take the initiative on the attack again or let him escape. There's no way this guy’s letting me off the hook.
I do a quick forward roll into a kneeling position, despite the pain, to get closer for a better shot. I loaded one nail into the sling and aimed it straight at his head.
The man got startled at my move and had all intention of dodging.
I didn't care, I let the nail fly with all my strength, and it must’ve worked because it definitely flew at a faster speed than the pellet shot.
It was only a few milliseconds before I saw the man's head fly backward, along with his grotesque hands which he had intended to use as a shield.
There was no way.
I couldn't even catch a glimpse of the nail once it left the sling. With a loud thud, the man landed on the floor dead.
It was over I had survived.
Or so I thought, my vision immediately started to get blurry after the adrenaline rush died down. I was injured in the middle of the wilderness.
Was this it? Was I going to die?
No, I can't not yet. I have to persevere, as long as I'm still breathing there's still a shot.
I was losing strength quickly and had completely drenched my clothes. I decided to forsake my travel pack and camp and head back towards the road, maybe I could find a kind traveler heading towards the village.
I walked and walked, for what seemed like an eternity.
Had I gone the wrong way? Don't tell me I went the wrong way. Now is not the time for me to get lost. I started getting desperate and started to panic. I looked around for anything that could be of help. But I started to feel my consciousness fade.
In the end, I managed to find a small hole dugout on the side of a hill. If I was going to die, I at least didn't want to become food for the animals, this hole would be my grave.
“Wait, maybe there was an animal in this hole too.”
“Ah screw it!”
”What options do I have.”
I managed to crawl towards the hole and tuck myself inside as deep as I could. Suddenly before I could lose consciousness I managed to catch sight of a weird marking on the floor that glowed real brightly.
The marking seemed to be getting closer and closer to me but before I could figure out what it was, everything turned into nothing.
My vision went black.
