Tekanon’s pincer like hands clicked together as he walked along the column lined great hall. Black marble pillars laced with gold streaks passed one after another. He looked up at the pair of winged demons that made a path through the assembled crowd who had arrived to see Lilith brought low by their Lord and master. Tekanon’s seven eyes were looking in seven different directions. In each he saw confused demonic and angelic faces. His pseudopod like head twisted and he could see the faces of the two other royal demonic guards who looked down at his mishappen green chitinous and slimy form. Their eyes spoke volumes about what he was walking into. He tripped over his front two legs but the butt end of a wicked black pole arm shoved him forward he skidded along the smooth black marble floor, the two guards ahead of him had stepped apart leaving him skidding and finally coming to rest at the foot of the dais that held Lucifer’s throne.
Tekanon looked up at Lucifer’s beautiful form. He appeared to be a human man in perfect health. He had long blonde hair and tanned skin. His eyes were the only part of him that seemed to not belong. They were pure black orbs. Those eyes scanned the crowd, looking behind the guards and finally down to the groveling green slimy mishappen demon at the foot of his throne. Lucifer wrapped his fingers along the arm rests of his throne and leaned forward and looked down at Tekanon. The twisted green multi-eyed insectoid looked up at his master. It’s four legs scratching on the black marble floor as it shook.
“You said: Lord Lucifer, if you give me an army and I will bring your wife back. You said Lilith shows up in Limbo every single time she resets the timeline. You said it would happen on December 28, 2027 Earth time. Yet here you stand on December 29, 2027 Earth time and I see no Lilith, and no army. I sent eight of my brothers and sisters with you, along with two hundred of your pathetic lot. Where are my brothers and sisters, and where is my wife!”

Lucifer’s fist crashed down on his golden throne denting the metal by the end of his rant he was shouting. His voice echoed off the walls of the chamber. The demons that were present cowered as his voice turned into a booming rant that shook the ground. Tekanon tried to find his voice but he could not speak. His insect-like legs almost failed him as he stood up.
“Do you have a tongue Tekanon? Or have you lost that along with my army and my wife?”
Tekanon’s pincers clicked together as the fear that was coursing through him caused an uncontrollable tremor. Lucifer yelled.
“Speak! Or my guard will cut the words out of you!”
Tekanon threw up a bit of green bile marring the otherwise flawless black marble floor. Lucifer stood to his full seven foot of height. Tekanon fell the floor curled in in the fetal position his whole body shaking causing a repetitive clicking sound.
“My lord. My lord. Mercy.”
“Mercy? Do I seem like a merciful ruler to you? Speak and you might yet be spared the full punishment Hell can provide for my entertainment.”
“My lord, the…universe didn’t end. Your sister slew the First son.”
“Impossible! He cannot be destroyed; My father couldn’t even manage it.”
“Yet he is gone my lord. The barrier to Limbo was still up. Meaning your father and Ezekiel yet exist. The first son never breached it for us.”
Lucifer’s incredulous yell shook the foundations of Hell.
“What?”
“My lord… nothing reset. If it had I would be telling you that it happened again and you would have no awareness of it until I explained it…”
Lucifer’s sandals made a soft slapping sound that echoed throughout the silence of his courtroom as he descended the steps of his dais. The others that inhabited the room were fearful that any noise may draw the ire of their already enraged king. Once he reached the floor, Lucifer grabbed Tekanon by his fly like wings and looked directly into one his many eyes.

“That explains Lilith, where is my army? Where are my brothers and sisters?”
“I ordered them to stay, that something was wrong by they ignored me my lord, they ignored me and as the they ran into the rift I opened their was a flash…and they were gone.”
“So, you have failed me for the seventh time in a row, and this time you caused the destruction of my siblings?”
“Mercy lord, mercy! I know more!”
“You know more? This should be interesting. Speak toad.”
“Technically I’m more of a fl…”
Tekenon saw rage on his Lords face.
“My… my lord. Your Lilith's child was there. She tried to enter limbo as well. I saw…her and then a flash. Your wife… she stayed behind.”
“Behind where?”
“In the… collapsing universe. I do not know what your sister has done or how she did it…”
He threw Tekanon to the ground. The mishappen demon bounced a few times and rolled to a stop when one of the demons observing caught him with his bird like taloned foot. A trail of off-white blood traced the path Tekanon had taken. He coughed up more of it but was still alive. Lucifer walked back up the steps to his throne and sat down on it.
“Tekanon you live because of your unique temporal abilities. Pray to me that they continue to be useful.”
Lucifer looked out to his remaining brothers and sisters, then to the demons behind them.
“Find my sister, I would know what she has done to keep Lilith from our sight. I will not be robbed again!”

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
