‘The Immortals,’ as we called them, arrived on Earth.

“We’re here to give you immortality as well.”

“For what purpose?” asked Dr. Hammond, a philosophical scholar.

“None really. We’re eager to share our life-extending technological innovations.”

“Have you discovered the meaning of life or the purpose of existence?”

“No, Doctor, honestly we haven’t. In fact, that’s one of our fine print disclaimers—you may never discover the answers because you’ll forever stay in your current corporeal state.”

“Do explain …”

“Some of us opposed physical immortality—claiming it’d cause an eternal existential crisis of unanswerable questions.”

“And?”

“And, they’re dead.”
