Chapter 30
One for the Empire
?’s part
Back when I was a kid, I heard great stories about our country. How a small country like ours managed to stand strong against the foreign interference. How a small country like ours has managed to take over the uncivilized people of the north. How many people from the north were actually thrilled about our entrance. How our country’s great general has executed their evil King in public while the civilians of that country have cheered in joy. Looking at all those from now… I know those are the truth. However… things became a bit lousy after that. Our history says everything we did was right. Some were, however some were not. Clearly. Some can’t be defined neither right nor wrong, because it isn’t the matter of right and wrongs. History is confusing in the sense of morality. Sometimes it’s okay to do things that we think are not okay. Sometimes it’s not okay to do things that we think are okay. Many things that our country is full of evil and chaos. However, it’s not. That’s simply not the truth. Our country is a well functioning society with rules and regulations. Some of the things might not be right, some of the things it has done in the past might be bad. Aren’t all countries like that though? Why should our country be criticized for the things that every other country tries to do? Is taking over other countries bad? Sometimes their civilians ask us to come and overthrow their evil leader. That was how it all started. That was the beginning of the legend. Not the legend of the sentinel, but the legend of the Tal empire.
Well… so um. Want to know who I am? Well, I am actually Harlist Tal. I am a master assassin serving for the Tal empire. I know that many people in our continent think our country is corrupted and chaotic. You might be thinking the same right now. However, as an insider. I can tell you it’s not. Yes we are sometimes cruel to the weak, but who are not? Rogue continent is just that kind of place. If we had plenty of resources and stuff, we might be able to help the poors. However, that’s just not the case. In fact, many studies have shown that our country’s weakest live better than the ones of Coastal Republic, where murders are allowed in many places, or Sentinel where weakest are stepped down and starved to death. Or FGU, where average people, not just poor, can’t have what they want because they don’t have enough money. Or Hab Kingdom, where non humans are severely abused and humans are severely povertized. Or shepard state, the poorest country in the WHOLE ENTIRE CONTINENT. Don’t you think it’s our job to stop those sufferings? Don’t you think we have all the rights to free their civilians from all that evilness? To do that, we sometimes have to step over some decent countries. That’s just how the world is. We can’t pick and choose if we want to become stronger and release people from suffering. Sometimes we have to attack people living in happiness and make some of them our slaves. Only some of them, we let most of the useful people become our citizens and serve our country without being forced to do so. That might sound awkward, but mmm… want to be slave or just pay taxes? I would probably choose the latter. Don’t think we are some evil chaotic terrorists that wants to terrorize the entire contient. We are just a country, an empire. Just like any other, we expand. We make sure most people are living in good condition. We make sure most of the new citizens adapt to our society. It’s not our fault their country is too weak to protect them, it’s not our fault that some of them might have gotten injuries from the war. What we can do now is protect them from further dangers. That’s what we do. That’s what the Tal empire does. We might not be right all the time, but we hold our reasons well. It’s how we are, and it’s how we will always be.

Serena had died a Celestial. One of the few who were meant to rule over the vast multiverse. Yet she was inexplicably reborn. Carrying the knowledge of her past life, she seeks to do what her kind does best... rule. Yet, the multiverse isn't what it once was. Mortals aspire to become what the celestials once were, through levels or classes or cultivation. New things that didn't and shouldn't exist. And these mortals are only the beginning of what stands in her way. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Warning: There will be times that morally suspect themes happen. While I have little to no intention of showing them (especially during a Writathon) things like abuse of all kinds (neglect, emotional, mental, spiritual, physical and sexual) can or be implied to have happened. These are played to the horrors such things are, and are treated with the seriousness and aftereffects it would cause. Progression + Cultivation + GameLit + Multiverse + Slow Build + Slow Burn + Worldbuilding + Grimbright + Multiple POVs = Insanity for all. This the first time I am seriously writing an original story. I will be Writing each book in Parts/Arcs (3-6) with mini arcs (3-6 in each arc). Each Mini-arc is 5-14 or so chapters. I like progression stories and I've always wanted to try and write one like a few of the web novels that inspired me. The Game Lit aspects will be more in the background, with focus on other details like dungeons, monsters, loot, morality, and so on. There will be focus on various kinds of progression. Updates 3-5 days a week (Usually weekdays). Chapters will be roughly 1000-2500 words and alternate wildly.

The Emperor's Chef
"Cook like your life depends on it, kid. Because it does." Charles had an enviable future lined up for him. Training from the age of five by some of the finest chefs in the world. Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.
