《Re:World》Chapter 69: IOU

Reiki was sitting at the table eating a large slice of deep-dish pizza, on the table were two whole roasted turkeys, paella with plenty of chilies on top, a plate filled with freshly grilled that was steaming, deep-dish pizza missing a couple of slices, a very large bowl of rigatoni with plenty of meat sauce on top, and three gallons of vanilla ice cream. He thought. It took them five minutes to cook all this?... As he stared at the table filled with food, Melanor was eating some paella with some hot rice while Elora was eating a turkey leg and a slice of deep-dish pizza.
Elora clapped her hands as another male elf appeared kneeling beside her. Elora placed down a sharp wooden knife and a spoon on the table, she turned her head to look at the direction the male elf appeared and said. "Pack the rest of the food in a sack and give it to Reiki." The male elf nodded as he vanished from his kneeling position along with most of the food on the table except the food on their plates.
Reiki took large bites of his pizza, he thought. I need to split. He picked up a wooden glass and drank some water to wash the pizza down, picking up the large stuffed pizza crust on his plate he stood up and said. "Please excuse my inappropriate table manners, your majesty. After eating such a grand meal I need to take a minute to let my body digest."
Reiki gave both of them a polite bow as he looked around the room and walked towards the only door. The male elf appeared in front of him as he gave Reiki the pouch. Elora didn't turn around to look at him, she said. "One of my elves shall escort you on your way home." The male elf nodded at Elora as Reiki pocket the pouch, the male elf grabbed him by the collar of his tunic as Reiki's entire vision turned blurry as he saw Moranor and Enrel walking inside by the entrance.
Reiki thought. Do all elves have the ability to teleport? Or is it because they're majesty's unit? Moranor's eyes were bleak as she stared at the floor, Enrel was comforting her daughter's friend by patting Moranor's shoulder and trying to cheer her up. Enrel said. "It'll be fine, we know what Reiki's capable of. Her Majesty won't-."
Enrel stopped talking when from the corner of her eyes she saw he was being held by the collar by one of the queen's guards. Moranor turned her gaze to look at Enrel who turned silent, she tried to follow her gaze and saw Reiki. Moranor's eyes brightened up, she said. "R-Reiki! Y-Your... Fine?..." Enrel had a look of confusion as she took her hand away from Moranor's shoulder, Enrel said. "Didn't Melanor bring you to see her majesty?"
Her gaze wandered to the male elf who was carrying him by the collar off the ground. Enrel let out a sigh and said. "Did you get in trouble?" Reiki was about to take a bite of the pizza in his hand, he stopped himself as he noticed a look of concern slowly growing on Moranor.
Reiki rolled his eyes at Enrel, he said. "You would like that, won't you? Unfortunately for you, this kind elf…" He pointed at the elf on his right using the pizza in his hand, Reiki took a glance at him using the corner of his eye, he said. "I would want to ask for his name but I get the feeling he won't answer."

The elf didn't move as he stayed silent and stared at the door, Reiki waved the pizza in his hand and continued. "Anyway back to the topic at hand, the kind elf is uh… Escorting me back to Melanor-san's home." He turned his head at Moranor who had a look of astonishment as her eyes brightened up, He said. "Her majesty also gave me some food, I'll be at the dining room if you want some there's plenty to go around." The male elf took a step forward as Both Enrel and Moranor made way for him, the male elf reached for the door and opened it, the elf took a deep breath.
Reiki turned his head to look behind him, he said. "See yo-." Both of them suddenly disappeared as Moranor's pointy ears twitched as she could hear the sound of someone running and was quickly becoming fainter. The door was about to close itself as Moranor suddenly caught it by the handle, she said. "I have something planned for the day! Tell mom I said hi!" Moranor vanished on the spot leaving Enrel with a look of utter confusion on her face.
Enrel let out a sigh, she said. "I was hoping he would be sent my way so I could mentor him and ride on his cottontails to success in the future… Time for plan B." She vanished leaving the entrance empty as the door slammed itself shut from the momentum.
In The Middle Of A Large Garden
Elora and Melanor were sitting on wooden chairs by a round table and drinking some wine using a glass of wine. Enrel suddenly appeared as walked towards the two elves sitting, Elora clapped as another chair appeared as a faint figure of a shadow passed by. Elora placed down another wine glass from her pocket and a bottle of wine that was half empty. Enrel sat down and filled her glass, she said. "What did I miss?" Melanor emptied her half-filled glass in one go, she said. "A business venture…"
Elora held a glass in her hand as she slowly swirled the wine around. Enrel stopped herself from taking a sip and said. "What kind?" Melanor picked the bottle up and refilled her empty glass, she said. "Using his words, a potion empire." Enrel placed a glass on her lips but before she could take a sip she laughed as she moved the glass away to avoid the wine from spilling.
With a half-smile on her face, Enrel said. "Potion empire? Can you even comprehend how much that would cost? We've seen countries and species attempt to make a shop on a large scale as they threw a drop of water into the chasm." Enrel let out a chuckle, she turned her head towards Elora, Enrel said. "I'll humor both of you…"
She took a sip of wine while Elora's gaze was still fixated on the glass in her hand. Enrel said. "What did the boy want?" Elora lazily nodded at Melanor. Melanor placed down the glass of wine and said. "He wanted some seed money and a few trivial items and… Three favors in exchange for another five percent..." Enrel raised an eyebrow, she said. "Does he think we'll agree just because of his intellect?" As she let out a small laugh. Enrel noticed Melanor's lack of reaction and Elora's contemplating expression.
Enrel placed the glass she was holding down on the table, with a surprised look she said. "You two can't be serious… He doesn't even have a high school diploma and you two are thinking of going along with the deal? What happens if he just up and leaves? Even if he does start one, don't tell me you're going to fill it with your own pockets? We don't even have four months' worth of capital to support a single potion shop let alone something of this scale!?"

Melanor had an annoyed look on her face, she was about to say something when Elora raised her hand to stop her to which Melanor took a sip of wine. Elora said. "Reiki said he would be the one responsible to keep the business afloat among other things…" Enrel gaze was switching between the two of them, she said. "Can someone fill me in? I wasn't here when he placed the deal on the table, but by the looks of it…"
Enrel eyes narrowed as a smirk slowly grew on her face, she said. "I smell a big opportunity." Melanor let out a chuckle, she turned her head to look at Elora, with narrowed eyes, she placed her wine glass down and said. "Here's Reiki's 'plan'."
Melanor's Dining Room
Reiki was sitting on a chair with a table filled with food. Moranor was sitting beside him and had a plate with a deep-dish pizza, rigatoni, and a large piece of turkey breast. Reiki picked up his glass and downed it in one go as he let out a loud burp. He said. "Excuse me." Reiki turned his head as he looked at Moranor eating beside him. He said. "You were worried about me, weren't you?"
A smirk appeared on his face. Moranor nearly dropped the pizza she was holding on with her hands to the floor, with a faint blush on her face she said. "I. Was. Not." Moranor placed the slice of pizza on her plate while Reiki stared at his plate. He said. "Oh… I kinda wanted you to worry about me…" Moranor was holding a wooden knife and a fork and was trying to cut off a slice of turkey, when she heard him speak Moranor almost slipped and lost her grip on the utensils in her hands.
She had a faint blush on her cheeks as she forced a cough, Moranor said. "T-That's enough of your antics." Moranor stabbed a couple of pieces of rigatoni using her fork, her gaze wandered to Reiki's hair that was more of a mess than usual. With an odd look on her face, Moranor said. "What happened to your hair?"
Reiki took a bite of pizza and used his free hand to touch his hair, he placed the pizza down and downed it with some water. He said. "The elf was a fast sprinter, I blinked, and I was staring at the front door. I looked around to at least say my thanks but he was already gone." Moranor let out a chuckle at how ridiculous he looked as she noticed that the plates, bowls, and trays were all brand new to her. She said. "I've never seen mom buy this before."
Reiki was about to eat a fork with some rigatoni, he stopped and placed it down, and said. "Melanor-san didn't, this was from her majesty's." Moranor raised a brow, she said. "From the palace?" Reiki picked up a turkey as he nodded his head to answer her question. Moranor rolled her eyes at him, she said. "If you want to eat I'll let you." Reiki started to eat at a faster pace while Moranor watched. She let out a giggle as the two of them continued with their meal.
Research Facility
They were four large tables with three of them filled with all kinds of brewing stands, cups you usually see in science class. One table had a few empty teacups and a fairly new water heater along with a few ingredients on the table. There were three males and a female in red high heels in white coats in a line as Kiru was standing in front of them holding a stack of papers. The four individuals wearing white coats had their heads down as they stared at the floor, Kiru's right hand that was holding the stack of papers was slightly shaking in frustration.
Kanzei was standing on her left with his arms crossed emitting an intimidating air around him. Kiru took a deep breath, she said. "So?" The three researchers in front of her lowered their head, the female wearing high heels coughed, the female said. "Ojou-sama… It's not real… I know you've hired us due to the various words of others but that potion you claimed isn't real. I don't want to be the one who points it out… You've been tricked."
The papers in Kiru's hand instantly turned into ashes, she clenched her fist as the flame in her hand let out a small sizzling sound as it died out. Kiru's eyes turned cruel as she coldly said. "When I gave you four a personal invite, you four claimed to be the best in your field and you're telling me you can't even replicate a child who made a potion using an electric kettle? You idiots asked for 500 platinum (¥180,000,000) coins each upfront and another 500 midway and I agreed…" The entire room turned dark as a few streaks of lightning violently traveled around the room leaving scorch marks wherever it went and destroying equipment.
The streaks of lightning produced a crackling sound that could temporarily cause deafness if an individual was too close, Kiru continued. "And you're telling me you don't even have the slightest clue on how to replicate a single step and blew through all the money I gave you because you caviar eating, wine drinking, luxury wearing homo sapiens thought this would be an easy payday."
One of the males clenched his fist and raised his head in defiance, he said. "Who do you think you are?! With our achievements, if any of us were to go missing for an hour the entire-." Kiru waved her hand as a sharp ice cone was aimed at the man's forearm as he was pinned to a wall. Kanzei rummaged through his breast pocket and pulled out a phone. He tapped a few times as he was searching for something.
Kiru's hair was slowly starting to rise as her eye was faintly glowing, the man who was pinned to the wall said. "Y-You'll be s-sorry." Kiru took a deep breath to calm herself before she could even raise her foot a couple of inches off the ground. Kanzei tapped her shoulder and said. "Ojou-sama, don't forget they still owe you money." Kanzei placed the phone back into his breast pocket. Kiru nodded and said. "Fine, fine… I need a warm cup of tea." Kiru vanished from the room leaving Kanzei and the four researchers.
The female researcher said. "W-What are you going to do with us?" Kanzei was rummaging through his pockets looking for something, he said. "Did you know a dead body goes for $550,000 or just a little over ¥60,000,000, you can legally sell a heart for $1,000,000 or just shy of a few hundred thousand to an even ¥110,000,000 and as for prices for the black market?... I can't say, to avoid the off chance of you scammers knowing the said person in their normal life."
Kanzei reached for his pocket on the back and pulled out a blue twelve-inch dagger. All three researchers were slowly backing away from him and soon were leaning against the wall, one of the males said. "O-Our achievements are certified, I-If you could just give us more time-." Kanzei waved his hand, he said. "No more chances, Ojou-sama isn't the type to keep useless things at bay… You don't have to worry about anything."
Kanzei's gaze swept to all four of them, he continued. "All your children will be put to good use." He flicked the back of the knife as a soft ding reverted through the entire room sending a shiver down the researcher's spine. Kanzei said. "With such intellectual prowess, you should know eating certain herbs in their teenage years would yield better results… The boys will be trained to be sold as slaves while the girls will be whores, and as you know innocence comes with a high price… As for your parents, pray they still have value in their field, organs at their age barely go for anything… Fiancee?..."
He let out a cold chuckle and continued. "Let's say I'll be doing the three of you people a big favor." Kanzei waved his hands as one of the male researchers flew towards him, before the researcher could hit him the man stopped mid-air as Kanzei waved his hand at one of the tables with glass tubes, cups, and other high-tech equipment flung to the side.
The man was set on the table while his arms were placed on the sides, the researcher said. "W-We can talk this out! I-I can-!" The researcher felt something was covering his mouth, Kanzei slowly waved his hand as countless glowing arms of various lengths were floating around him. The researcher looked below and saw there were dozens of mana arms holding him down by his legs and arms and one was covering his mouth to prevent him from speaking.
Kanzei walked towards the table as he used the dagger in his hands to slice open his shirt, he made a large incision on the researcher's chest in a capital sideways 'H'. The man violently struggled on the table as he let out moans filled with pain, his clothes quickly turned red from the deep cuts Kanzei made. Kanzei reached out with his hand as he placed a couple of fingers in the incision and quickly ripped off one side of the man's skin from his chest exposing bone and the organs underneath.
The researcher's eyes widened as it looked like it could pop out any moment, The three researchers looked in horror as the one who was impaled on the wall puked his lunch out. The other male researcher shoved the female and started to run, the female gaze stayed on the table where Kanzei hands were covered in blood that was starting to coagulate. In one motion he ripped off the other side of the skin as the researcher moved even more violently.
Blood covered the entire top of the table, Kanzei calmly said. "Don't struggle too much, I still need to take your organs…" Using the corner of his eye he looked in the direction where one of the males ran. He continued. "Fetch." All the arms suddenly stretched towards the direction. The male that ran started to scream from the top of his lungs, after a few seconds he was back in the room with ten red lines on the ground coming from him gripping the floor and breaking his nails.
A couple of pairs of hands rummaged through Kanzei's pockets as his pouch was taken, more hands went inside the pouch as a dozen mini coolers were placed on the floor along with a sticky note and a fountain pen. Kanzei's gaze was still on the researcher with the exposed organs on the table. He moved his hand and carefully picked up one of the kidneys and sliced the vein, artery, and ureter. The male started to struggle once again as blood started to spew all over the floor and some on Kanzei's attire, a pair of hands picked up one of the coolers and opened it, and revealed it was almost filled with ice.
Kanzei placed the kidney inside and reached out for the other one, cutting off some veins once again he placed it in the cooler. A Pair of mana hands placed the cover back on the cooler as it was replaced with another empty one, Kanzei reached out for the lungs as he carefully pinched the trachea and sliced the researcher's pair of lungs off as a pair of mana hands immediately placed it in a cooler.
The man laying on the table eyes widened as he tried to breathe in air, after a couple more breaths the man went limp on the table as the dozens of hands let go of his body as Kanzei harvested the heart and placed it in another cooler. Kanzei was writing on a sticky note and it had the deceased man's blood type, age, addictions, and background. Soon the hands started moving as the researcher who was pinned into a wall was as white as a sheet of paper and was about to be placed on a table that had some equipment that was flung to the side by more hands.
The other man who tried to escape was placed on the other table with more equipment that was flung to the side as he tried to struggle, Kanzei walked towards the female who was frozen while sitting on the floor staring at what was unfolding. About one-third of the hands were holding a knife made out of pure mana and were dissecting the two males.
Kanzei stopped right in front of the female as she started visibly shivering. The female said. "W-Wait!" She tried to move her hands that were shaking as she rummaged through her white coat and took out her phone, with a couple of taps she showed Kanzei the balance of her account, the female said. "I-I still have your m-money… S-S-So I-I can walk, right?" Kanzei took her phone as a mana hand rummaged through the inside of his breast pocket and took out his phone, with a few taps he transferred the money into Kiru's account as he let go of the phone as it hit the ground.
Kanzei turned around and took a few steps forward, he said. "In that case, you get a painless death." A glowing hand that was wielding a mana knife slashed at her, a couple of seconds passed as her head started to fall sideways as it hit the ground and rolled on the floor.
Kanzei stared at the two corpses that had their organs being harvested alive, the puddles of blood were growing as a foul stench was taking over the smell of the air. The first researcher that had their organs harvested was pushed off the table by more hands and was replaced with the female body, hands started making incisions and harvesting the woman's organs, and placing them in coolers filled with ice. Eventually, the last cooler was filled with a heart and closed, all the hands in the room suddenly vanished. Kanzei looked around the room and with bloody hands, he said. "Time to clean."
Sand Dunes
Arashi was lying face down on the sand breathing heavily as her clothes were sticking to her. Asami was standing a few feet in front of her drinking a soft drink with some ice. Asami said. "You're thinking of something else."
