《The Calamity of a Dungeon Crawl》Neptune’s Lie

We ended up camping in the cave over night before we headed off.
“Are you sure this will work Master Udon?” Miko was sceptical of my plan, we had gone back to where the Deer-Bear was trapped in the pit Vnaa made.
“I can’t believe that monster was still alive” Vnaa said holding my hand, we had seen the Deer-Bear still alive in the pit, Miko looked suspicious at the bones that was in the pit. I managed to convince her that some travellers must have fallen in, she didn’t seem to convince but I don’t believe she thought I had something to do with it, you couldn’t tell it was the bones of those horrible Bull Demi-Humans
“Your magic truly is amazing Rival Miko” Umi praised Miko holding what appeared to be the ‘Ice Chimeras head’ but in fact it was the Deer-Bears head with an illusion spell over it to make it look like the Ice Chimera’s head.
“That Deer-Bear had grown pretty weak over that time though, so cutting it’s head off wasn’t that hard” I manage to use my shadow ball spell with my sword in it to slice the Deer-Bear’s head off, Miko and I even managed to level up in the process, we must have been right on the verge of levelling up after we got all that exp from the Tusked Yeti, we didn’t meet any new skill conditions though.
“As long as we act like we killed the Ice Chimera, we’ll be fine Miko” Vnaa and Umi where going to stay back in Jot’s shop, there wasn’t any reason why we needed them there with us.
“Ok, I trust you Master Udon” Miko got closer to me, she still didn’t seem convinced this plan will work
“Hey, no being all lovey dove with Sir Udon” Umi grabbed my arm and shot Miko a harsh glare,
“I wasn’t!” Miko retaliated and grab my other arm,
“Stop it!” I yanked both my arms out of their grip and glared at the two girls
“We need to head back to the fifth floor, do not! Hold onto me tightly, we will link hands that is all
“I’m on this side”
“Than I’m on this side” Umi and Miko immediately dashed and grabbed my hands, Umi was on my left and Miko on my right.
“No, Vnaa will hold onto my hand while you two will link up to Vnaa’s” I pulled my hand out of their grip and walked over to Vnaa, holding her hand
“No fair”
“I know Vnaa is cute Master Udon, but you shouldn’t spoil her so much” Umi and Miko puffed their cheeks up and scrunched their noses at me. Spoil her? I was only holding her hand
“I like when you choose me Papa Udon” Vnaa gave off a little smirk to the other two girls
“Why you little brat”
“You’re smirking for a totally different reason though Vnaa” Umi and Miko were still complaining.
“Different reason?” Vnaa tilt her head puzzled, what was Miko on about now
“Yes, you’ll understand when you’re older” Umi walked over and held onto Vnaa’s hand with Miko following, finally, they are ready to go

“Gem Teleportation-Fifth Floor” Just like before the scenery changed around us into the stairs of the fifth floor, Umi stiffened up at the place we were, this is where she died or part of her previous self died, it was normal she’d get uncomfortable being around here
“Lets get going” I let go of Vnaa’s hand and headed towards the town quickly
“Thank you Sir Udon” Umi walked up close to me, she looked petrified, she didn’t even try and grab me, I had never seen this side of Umi before
“Uhh, don’t worry about it” I ruffled Umi’s hair trying to comfort her, it worked a little but she was still scared
“We’re back!” Vnaa shouted out walking into Jot’s shop
“Oh, I’m so glad! I was rather quite worried about you four” Jot replied giving Vnaa a jolly smile
“Finally, I was starting to think the worst had happened” Huh? Isn’t that Aria
“I see your clothes are a little dirty, how about I wash them for you” Claudia appeared behind Aria, the two seemed relieved, why are they here?
“Oh, this must be the talented ladies that made my outfit and my Ocean Sapphire Gemstone Necklace” Umi walked deeper into the shop, she approached Aria and Claudia and bowed her head in gratitude
“No need for that, I’m just glad you’re getting good use out of it”
“Yes, I’m glad the outfit I made suits you so well” Aria and Claudia got flustered, they were a little embarrassed at the gratitude Umi was showing.
“Why are you two here?” I asked
“We stopped by Jot’s shop early this morning to check if you had come back yet, when he said you hadn’t we got a bad feeling and decided to wait here for you” Claudia explained
“Jeez, it was only a day and a half, do you want more of my money” I placed the bag on the counter, I had just met them the other day.
“Ow” Miko whacked the back of my head again, what was that for!
“Oh, I see, so this is the young lady Jot had been telling us about” Aria got closer to Miko examining her, what was she doing that for?
“Really, I would assume it was this young lady over here” Claudia said examining Umi, what are these two doing, they are acting like perverts
“I’m going to take a shower and than head off to that good for nothing ‘god’ Neptune, you perverts better not scare my party members” I walked into the back of the shop towards the wash room.
“Hmm, as dense as they come I see”
“Yes, you two girls have quite a lot of work to do, don’t you” Aria and Claudia mumbled something as I left the room.
“You’ve returned I see” Miko and I reported back to Neptune, we were in his ‘throne’ room with Aquarus standing next to him.
“Yes, this is what you wanted, we couldn’t retrieve the Ice Imbued Escedian, you didn’t tell us what equipment we needed to actually retrieve it” I threw the ‘Ice Chimera’s’ head before the steps that led up to Neptunes throne

“You disrespectful little brat, how dare you talk to God Neptune in that manner, know your place scum!” Aquarus raised his trident trying to threaten me
“Whatever you over grown squid, you said I could join your guild if I killed the Ancient Floor Monster, so how about you uphold your end of the bargain” I wasn’t expecting him to really let me join but what kind of excuse was he going to make now
“I’ll kill you where you stand!” Aquarus having enough of my ‘rude’ behaviour Miko would put it, started to walk down the steps.
“Aquarus! Thats enough!” Neptune shouted out, stopping Aquarus where he stood
“Thats right, be a good little doggy” I mumbled loud enough that Aquarus could here me, he stared daggers at me, he wanted to kill me without a doubt, I was starting to feel joy in mocking this pathetic people.
“Master Udon, please don’t provoke them any further, we still don’t know what’s going to happen” Miko whispered, she was still on edge about this whole plan.
“You really believe I would let you join my guild, ha! Don’t make me laugh, a low life commoner like you will never join a guild as grand as mine, you are scum, the low of the lows, know your place peasant” Neptune stood up and slammed his Golden Trident into the ground mocking me as he does so.
“Fine, I guess I’ll be taking this then” I gave a smirk to Neptune, his mocking expression turned into one of rage, I went to pick up the ‘Ice Chimera’s’ head
*Bang
“Don’t misunderstand here” Neptune told me, Aquarus had slammed the top of his trident down hard right before the ‘Ice Chimera’s’ head as I was about to pick it up
“You don’t want a fight do you, the last time I fought in this castle, I destroyed your precious walls and that other dog of yours” I glared at Aquarus with my growing threatening wicked smile, Aquarus stood back intimidated
“This is my kill, something you weaklings couldn’t do, bac…”
“Silence! Surround the two of them” Neptune waved his golden trident and a group of guards surround Miko and I
“Master Udon” Miko stood closer to me, she was prepared to fight, I knew this would happen, I even told Miko it would happen.
“If you really want this monster’s head then take it, I wouldn’t want to be seen with a filthy weak crest like yours anyway, I’m leaving” I turned around and started walking out of the ‘throne’ room
“How dare you!” Aquarus tried to grab my shoulder but was stopped by Neptune
“Leave him Aquarus, we don’t want this scum in our castle any longer, let them leave”
“Did you have to make them so mad Master Udon” Miko and I were back in Jot’s shop, we were having dinner, Aria and Claudia decided to stick around, they did wash our clothes though so I wasn’t complaining.
“They had it coming” I told Miko shoving a piece of bread into my mouth
“To know that someone is brave enough to threaten a god” Aria said, she to looked a little stumped at me threatening Neptune
“More like idiotic” Claudia decided to open her mouth and give her opinion.
“I told you how it would play out and it went exactly like I thought, give or take a few sentences”
“You mean how you boasted about damaging Neptunes throne room last time you were there” Miko shot me a side glance, she was still annoyed about that?
“Well, yeah, they needed to know I’m not to be messed with” I felt a little embarrassed, that wasn’t part of the plan, Aquarus just got to me that’s all.
“Where are we going next Papa Udon” Vnaa smiled up at me, she had stew all over her face
“Come here little Vnaa” Umi wiped Vnaa’s mouth with a cloth, those two seemed to be getting closer.
“The next floor up is the sixth, but we don’t have a map, hey Jot, care to help us out, I did help this town of yours with the guards over taxing you” I gave Jot a smug smirk, I didn’t want to pay for a map I wasn’t going to use when I past the floor
“Yeah, yeah, I assumed you’d asked, I managed to gather the floor maps up to the twelfth floor, from there you’ll have to figure it out yourself.”
“Thank you Jot” Miko gave the old dwarf a smile, it made Jot’s cheeks flush red
“Good, I’m going to go to sleep and then we’ll leave early in the morning”
“Hang on a second”
“Huh? What is it?” I stood up and stared at Jot.
“You’ll need some of this hiking gear, once you’re up there just teleport back here and bring them back ok?” Jot stood up and pulled some hiking gear out of a draw.
“Why do I need this?” I opened the map to the sixth floor to see that it was just a mountain
“Fuji Floor, really, that is what he called it” That Creator wasn’t very creative if you asked me
“It’s not a hard mountain to scale with this gear but still be carful” Jot said sitting back down
“Thank you Jot” Umi smiled, looking at the hiking gear
“Ok, I’m going to bed” I headed back into the back room and got into bed, I was still exhausted from that fight with the Tusked Yeti, I had almost died a lot since coming here, it was starting to take a toll on me
“Say Miko, why is Udon like the way he is?”
“Yeah, has something happened to him?” I could hear muffled up voices through the wall, why were they so loud
“I uhh, I don’t know” Miko replied
“Was that Miko’s voice? She sounded upset” I drifted off to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

The Light in Death
Set in a modern city where Jesse Gil narrates his experience running a business capitalizing on his ability to heal any affliction — even death. He's forced to take on a student, Shawn Ellison, a spoiled college dropout who awakens abilities of his own, to prevent him from accidentally killing himself. As a result, Jesse must become more than just a healer. He'll need to master his power over energy: the fuel for life, the soul, and magic. I'm uploading the initial draft of each chapter so people can follow along with the story as I complete the manuscript. I'm hoping to gather interest, and potentially attract an editor. After going back to revise and edit; I will self-publish it.
