Chapter 21: Hunting A Beast Part 2

Gunnar also stopped to help Vir confront the Land Dragon.

“Head Arrow, I will help you fight this beast.”

“What are you doing? Go retreat with others, did you forget what I said earlier? We are not here to fight the beast head-on!”

“Bu-“

“Do not say anything and just follow what I said!”

“Yes! Head Arrow!”

Gunnar left with other Arrows while Vir stayed to buy some time. The Land Dragon enveloped its body with Life Energy. After that, it charged toward Vir with full force. Vir saw the Land Dragon was so enraged that it charged at him in anger, he saw this as an opportunity to deal great damage to the Land Dragon.

Vir tightened his grip on the stone spear in his hands, he enveloped his whole body with energy and waited for the perfect moment. The Land Dragon was about to bite Vir’s body, but Vir jumped back and then throw the stone spear coated with Life Energy on the Land Dragon’s left eye.

The stone spear pierced the eye of the Land Dragon. The Land Dragon cried in pain. However, it was still able to use its tail to attack Vir. Because Vir was in mid-air, he didn’t have any option but to receive the attack.

Vir flew away and then hit a giant tree. Thankfully, Vir’s body was covered with Life Energy. Therefore, the damage he received was not severe and only spewed some blood. Vir instantly got up and then ran in the direction of where the Arrows retreated.

The Land Dragon became even more enraged for losing its left eye, and then it chased Vir without a second thought. The Arrows are waiting in the small glade where the next place of operation will happen.

A lot of Arrows are worried about Vir, but soon they noticed a cloud of smoke heading into their location. Armani instantly understood what it was.

“5 Arrows with me! we will intercept the Land Dragon; the remaining Arrows climb the tree and ready your bow to support us. Be ready after the beast showed up, we will move.”

“I will fight too.” Gunnar said.

“No! you need to regain your energy, you will be leading the next attack!”

“No! I will fight!”

“Gunnar! Listen to me! This mission is very important you cannot do whatever you want! If you waste your energy here, Head Arrow Vir will be forced to lead the next attack! He would not have time to rest if that happen!”

“Grrr! Fine!”

Gunnar climbed the tree and readied his bow to support Armani. After a while, Vir finally appeared running as fast as he can, behind him was the Land Dragon repeatedly trying to bite Vir. Armani moved with the 5 Arrows to intercept the Land Dragon.

When the Land Dragon was closed enough, the Arrows on the top of the tree rained on the beast with arrows, and Armani’s group attacked the Land Dragon to take its attention out of Vir. However, the Land Dragon ignored Armani’s group and keep chasing Vir.

Vir stopped running to face the Land Dragon, the beast bite Vir, but Vir stopped it with both hands. The Land Dragon was stronger than last time. Therefore, Vir started to lose to the Land Dragon. When Armani saw that the stone spear didn’t do much to the Land Dragon, he let go of his stone spear and covered his right hand with Life Energy, then punched the land Dragon in the face.

Because of the blunt impact, the Land Dragon got stunned for a bit.

“Head Arrow, you can leave this to us now please rest!”

Vir retreated to rest on the top of the tree. The Land Dragon recovered its awareness, it tried to look for the person who injured its left eye, but no matter how much it looked around, the person it was been looking for was nowhere to be seen.

This angered the Land Dragon that it roared so loud the eardrum of the Arrows almost burst. Because the Land Dragon couldn’t find its target, it shifted this anger to the person who punched it in the face. Armani ran when the Land Dragon focused its attention on him.

The 5 Arrows with Armani attacked the Land Dragon repeatedly to try to take its attention. However, the Land Dragon ignored them like last time. Armani ran in a circle to tire the beast out and to keep the beast’s attention on him. The body of the Land Dragon was now full of small wounds, blood, and some arrow stuck in its body.

The Land Dragon didn’t give attention to the wounds. Because none of them can affect it, other than the injury Vir did to its left eye, that was why the Land Dragon was so adamant to devour Vir. The Arrows with Armani were starting to get injured because of some accidents, one Arrow was hit by a flying rock, some were smacked by the beast’s tail while it was turning, and the more severe was the one who was scratched by the beast claw.

The chase continued for a few minutes, Armani started to get tired, but the Land Dragon still won’t stop chasing him. Vir noticed that the Life Energy on Armani’s feet was starting to recede, he finally couldn’t stop himself.

“Armani changed of planned! I will now distract the Land Dragon, take the injured to the next location, and treat their injury there. I will follow you all after a while.”

“Head Arrow! Let me do the distraction this time!” Gunnar requested.

“No! you are leading the next attack. So, save your energy for later.”

Vir jumped down the tree to distract the Land Dragon. When the Land Dragon noticed Vir, it instantly shifted its attention toward him. Armani was finally able to rest, he catches his breath for a bit then ordered the Arrows.

“All of you heard the Head Arrow, carry the injured then proceed to the next location.”

The Arrows retreated to the next location while Vir stayed back again. however, this time Vir did nothing but ran. Vir slowly led the Land Dragon to the next location, he wanted to buy time as much as he could. So, the Arrows could have time to treat the injured.

After a while, Vir finally decided to bring the Land Dragon to the next area. Like before, the Arrows choose 6 hunters to intercept the beast, but this time the one leading the group was Gunnar. When the Land Dragon finally showed up, Gunnar didn’t waste a single second and rushed to the beast while screaming.

“COME ON! YOU STUPID LIZARD! FIGHT ME!”

Gunnar was only a 2nd Stage Energy Manipulation, that was why he throw his stone spear aside. Because he knew that without coating the stone spear with Life Energy, he would not be able to inflict significant damage to the Land Dragon using it.

Gunnar covered his right hand with Life Energy. After that, he jumped on the neck of the Land Dragon, mount it, and then repeatedly punched it on the head. Vir swiftly climbed to the tree to rest. Even though Gunnar’s punch didn’t affect the Land Dragon much, the beast was still annoyed by the person riding it.

The Land Dragon trashed its body to the nearest tree to dislodge the annoying hunter on his neck. However, Gunnar didn’t let go, instead, he punched the beast even harder. The Land Dragon continually trashed its own body on the tree, but every time it did Gunnar increase the power of his punch on its head.

Armani tried to stop Gunnar when he saw Gunnar was started to spew blood.

“Gunnar stop pushing yourself too much! Do not forget our mission, do not fight it head-on”

“Tsk! Fine!” Gunnar grumbled.

Gunnar jumped down from the beast. The Land Dragon thought the hunter finally fall from its continued trashing, it quickly turned to attack the annoying hunter. Gunnar didn’t run from the attack, instead, he narrowly evaded every single one of them.

This sequence of action continued for a few minutes before the Land Dragon’s movement visibly started to get slower. Even though Gunnar was smiling, the sweat on his forehead and the heavy breathing showed that he was exhausted, he also received some minor wounds from dodging so many attacks.

Armani finally shouted to Gunnar.

“Gunnar it is time to guide the Land Dragon to the next location!”

All the Arrows retreated including Vir to the next location, this time Gunnar was the one who stayed to lure the Land Dragon. Gunnar ran to the next location while screaming.

“FOLLOW ME YOU STUPID LIZARD!”

The Land Dragon angrily followed Gunnar. When Gunnar finally reached the location, there are already Arrows waiting for them, led by Vir himself. Vir just repeated the same strategy as before, but this time he made sure the Land Dragon got more wounded and tired.

After a while, Vir decided that it was time to bring the Land Dragon to the last place. However, when they are just a short distance away from the place, there suddenly another beast ambushed the Land Dragon and Bite it on its neck.
