《Reverend Insanity(But it was me DIO!)》Chapter 16: The first trial.

Dio took Luck Deduction Gu and said.
"Could you tell me the direction of the closest Gu master's inheritance?"
The Gu shone brightly revealing a pathway before him, Dio's smile widened.
"So it can also be used on this way, heh...
Perfect, on the upcoming months I'll profit greatly with this Gu."
He turned his head to the door.
"But for now, I guess is about time I begin my first 'trial.'"
Dio stood up from his bed and began to walk away outside the Gu house.
Then, he asked for the location of the medicine hall to some of his new slaves.
They informed him that it was located on the group of 'Elephant Gu houses', which deepened Dio's understanding.
"I see, on this world they have their own traditions, 'Camel Houses' normally transport goods and are trading palaces, that is because the wandering 'Camel Houses' are able to transport a good amount of goods for a long distance cheaply.
Similarly due to the warm temperature of the insides of an elephant, and humidity, together with the current 'trend' of using auxiliary elephant Gu worms such as 'Elephant recovery.'
Made the use of Elephant Gu houses obvious, anyway, the rule I'm speaking about, also applies to the serpent-Dragon Gu house which surrounds this tribe and city.
Overall, I'd say that 'Lizards' and 'Mushroom' houses are true residential living places, 'Elephant' for treating wounded people, 'Camel' houses for trading goods and lastly 'Serpent-dragon' houses are for prestige, surveillance and for protection of the cities.
Other odd types of Gu house such as 'Shark' Gu houses are for protecting strongholds, weaponry and other kind of stuff."
If Dio wanted to be a king on those lands he'd not only require to be the strongest, but also have a proper method of gestion of resources, hence for him this kind of information was vital.
...
Dio glanced at his surrounds, he glanced at each Gu house at each tiny zone, on an attempt to deepen even further his knowledge of the world around him.
As he moved, he heard the discussion of two mortal men, whilst they're sparring.
"Sigh, the crops have withered, the last winter destroyed most of our reserves, if only Ma Pa Hung was still alive, he'd..."
His opponent frowns, he punches his face and replies.
"Hmph, don't think about that geezer, its his fault that my group of elder was forced to wander for 6 weeks, we lost many lives, we took too many risks, and it was truly frustrating!
I mean what kind of retarded puts on his last will:
'My inheritance is inside one of the few forests of this region, with a warm temperature and a diversity of lifeforms, with many Blood and Poison beasts.
As I couldn't find my location or leave, and because the winter was truly too dangerous I was forced to leave my inheritance inside of a deep cave.
Seriously, what kind of retard is able to put himself on such a sorry state, without a way to go when they possess a rank 4 PEAK stage aperture."
The other man touches his cheek he sighs.
"Is not his fault, I mean, he only had a C aptitude, and he had been testing ways to increase his own aptitude or Cultivation base, it was quite the miracle that he'd reach such height with such little talent.
He is the creator of many diverse Gu's such as Explosive Seed Release, 4 stations Greenhouse, Green Lea, Cactus essence, Spiritual flower photosynthesis, Harvest on Spring the Crops of the Winter.
And many other various Gu's, I'm on admiration of him, despite his aptitude, due to his proficiency on Earth and Wood path he developed a myriad of Gu's to rise to glory!
But on spite that he was still faithful to his tribe, he shared all the results of his investigation with our patriarch, Ma Shang Feng.
When we find his legacy, perhaps our Ma tribe can become the winner of the next Heroes Assembly..."
The other man spat on the ground and said.
"Hmph, I'd also have such achievements if I was given the chance to awaken an aperture, unfortunately I've not been given the chance yet, I still have to accumulate a lot of merit points.
But, mark my words, I Ma Zhong Hu I'll become one of the brightest stars of the Ma Tribe-"
The two turned their heads, they realized that Dio was hearing their discussion.
"Please, my brother Ma Zhong Hu was just playing a joke, don't take it too seriously, grand Gu master!"
One of the two said, Dio sighed.
"Life is not fair, in many regards, and many prodigies are unable to show their potential, sigh, this truly pains this Dio.
But, if you truly have the potential, just look for me, I'll personally test your aptitude and awaken your aperture, and I'm sure that you'll be able to become a star, just like you wish..."
Dio said gently, his tone carried a trace of pity and wisdom, as if he had seen the viciousness of life.
Those were the acting skills he had developed since a young age.
"Now, I bid you my farewell, goodbye, at least for the moment."
He began to walk away, if he was truly too forceful, he'd look pathetic and desperate and perhaps they'd look down on him, but through this method he ensured to raise the chance of them looking personally for him after a few days.
After settling those little schemes, Dio entered to the biggest of the Elephant Gu houses.
The 'Diamond Mammoth.'
"Knock. Knock."
"Excuse me, is this the right location?
I Dio, I was told that I'd make my trial inside the central medicinal hall."
...
The person at the other side squinted.
"Are you truly him, with such a weak aura?
Your aperture is at most a rank 2 initial stage-"
Dio frowned.
He tensed his quadriceps, and his hands.
The vague faint image of a Rabbit jumping and a Monkey holding its weight by a little branch appeared.
Their aura moved and expanded by the second, passing through the door.
Finally, due to Dio's precise control and training he distorted their images, the two animals looked at him with a devilish smile, killing intent piled up in them.
Their glance was strange, there was a continuous flow on energy inside their eye sockets, where their two eyes should be.
That was Dio's first Killer Move.
By using Destiny Gu, Dio figured a way to 'trespass' part of his spiritual aura through those two Strength phantoms, hence, expanding his vision field.
The man before him began to tremble in pure fear, he was truly astonished he had never witnessed such kind of scene in all his life.
"Hahahaha, you should take a look at your face."
Dio chuckled, the image of his two Strength phantoms changed, they became transparent-like, and reflected his image back to him.
"Hah, but seriously, even though, I'd love to play with you for a bit longer, I have some patients to treat, I am, after all, a doctor, and I can't keep playing 'knock-knock' with you.
So, can I pass now?"
...
The man before him nodded lightly, before opening the door.
"This guy is dangerous, I shouldn't mess up with him.
Sigh, and I thought that I could get some easy money..."
He frowned.
Actually, this man already knew that he had used a Spiritual-Body Conversor Gu, and hence, he already 'figured' out why Dio had such low and meek aperture.
After all, even though they hadn't witnessed the process from where Dio acquired such a Gu they felt its aura.
That and because, Dio was at the side of Ma Shan Hu one of the most likely to become the next tribe elder, they tried to suppress him on advance, with petty tricks to make him fail on his trial.
If Dio was too passive, he'd lose a lot of time, if he was too aggressive and hurt the pawn they selected they'd be even happier, as they'd be able to find a weak spot which they'd use to target him.
After all on politics the most important things are 'excuses.'
If they had to sacrifice a pawn for this purpose, so be it!
Of course, this particular pawn was unaware of the schemes of his direct superiors, and hence, he was simply too daring.
But, when he faced the fear of death, all the other pretenses left him, he just wanted to survive for another day.
The man sighed, he began to explain.
"For this trial, we'll be using an Audio-Video Recorder Gu to take note at everything you do, at all actions you do and you don't.
So, please mind each of your actions.
But, also I recommend you to not be too extravagant, ordinary common methods will suffice, riskier more beautiful techniques may be more attractive but if you make the slightest of mishaps you'll fail the trial."
Dio nodded upon hearing his words.
Whilst he felt slightly bitter internally.
"Sigh, I lost too much energy, on the past days while I cultivated and practiced new techniques, my reserves are being depleted at a fast rate.
I'd love to devour their flesh or at least take some of their blood, but I must refrain myself."
After thinking of this, he then glanced at the temperature of one of his patients.
His body was too pale and cold.
He had multiple bulged veins, and signs of poisoning.
Dio frowned.
"I see, he was likely poisoned by a certain Gu or something related which decreases the heartbeat and blood flow, and eventually the rhythmic of his breathe.
He's all messed up, and has all sort of illness, but for starters."
Dio extended his palm, and put it just a few millimeters out of his body.
It quickly began to tremble, with multiple quick movements, he tried to raise his body temperature.
Then, with his other hand, he touched his chest and with multiple electric pulses he tried to restart his heartbeat.
Whilst he was at it, he extracted some of his polluted blood with his nails.
The process was incredibly smooth and fast, due to this, the patient began to toss some drops of saliva filled with mucus.
Dio closed his eyes briefly, then, he activated his Destiny Gu.
With it, he perceived for a moment the luck of his patient, from his already grey-black coffin filled with snowflakes, most had been removed by Dio's red flame.
But, there were still some remaining parts, such as a black lump with the shape of his lungs and kidneys.
His organs had been completely damaged permanently due to his illness!
Dio frowned again.
This wouldn't do!
Perhaps, on earth this result would be satisfactory but on the Gu world there were a myriad of mysterious Gu's they'd reattach or even recreate body parts and other various tissues.
Yes, they had limitations, such as the friction of the Dao marks, and that they're not specialized on complete recoveries, after all the Gu's were not intelligent.
They healed in the 'foundation' of what they should be.
If the body 'required' a part of the body, the Gu would adapt to its needs and recreate that inexistent tissue.
But, when the body had been damaged since years or decades the effect of Gu's vanished by then, they're at the end, not completely perfect.
But Dio had to be 'perfect.'
Even if his fighting techniques are super-b he also had to have a method which surpassed thoroughly the healing Gu masters.
Thus, Dio made a quick decision.
He sighed and at some point, he extracted some of his diluted Vampiric essence on his bloodstream, principally close to those two organs.
This and because Dio also added in a few fragments of his organs (before they repaired themselves) into his body, which were integrated perfectly through multiple cuts and a delicate cauterization Dio made a huge progress on a matter of seconds.
The minutes passed, Dio repaired almost completely all the damage to his organs and he had the leisure to even repair some of his 'veins' and increase the effectivity of his blood flow.
Effectively it could be said that his bloodstream was even more efficient than before he had been ill.
Dio stood up with a slight prideful smile on his face, his quick, precise movements were a result of the 'experience' he won on those past weeks, where he treated his slaves.
He, then fixed his glance on another person it was a kid of around 11 years.
His blood was scattered across his bed, his muscles were hard like steel and his veins were throbbing.
Dio frowned, it took him a few seconds, but he noticed the cause.
"This condition, it must be fruit of overexerting your muscles, I see...
You have a rank 1 middle stage aperture.
Sigh, child, your young body can't bear its strength completely, it will affect your development on the future, if you will it, I can suppress its effect for the moment.
And this is what worries me the most, you, you used Jin and other Strength Gu worms, did you?"
Jin Strength were a branch of Gu worms specialized on 'raising' the battle strength homogenously through the body.
A 'Jin' rank 1 Gu would raise the strength by around 500 grams.
A '10 Jin' rank 2 Gu would do the same but with 5 kg's.
Overall, the higher its rank the more 'complete' its effects are.
The higher their rank the higher the 'cap' and amount of Jin Strength Gu's you can use to raise your body physical strength.
Luckily, this Gu is 'naturally' capped, to only allow Gu master's to go at the very limit of their bodies not a step further.
The higher its rank the higher its complexities, though, so together with the 'Strength' a layer of 'defense' covers the body, countering mostly the influence of the Jin Gu, hence, a higher ranked Gu allows for a higher cap of strength.
This Gu can be said to be completely safe, unless...
Is used with other Gu to further raise the physical strength.
Such as 'Horse Strength', 'Dolphin Strength', and so on.
When the strength reaches its breaking point, the muscle will begin to tear itself apart when you apply a high amount of brute force, if you take it even further it will begin to tear passively, no matter what you do.
To compensate for the growing amount of strength the Gu master would normally train their bodies, or use supplementary Gu's such as Iron bones, Silver tendons and so on.
Overall, the more similar and related the branch of Strength Gu worms used, the higher the compatibility and the lower the risks.
This was the result of a foolish and reckless practice.
Dio was about to laugh, but he managed to conceal it, and instead asked with a 'worried' tone.
"Child...What did you do, to reach at such a poor state?"
The 10 year old child clenched his fist.
"I wanted to be strong, I need to be strong.
Y-yeah, it hurts, b-but, a true man should endure pain, right?
My father has been missing for a few days, he saved me and my mom from a wild beast, which is said to have the strength of a rank 2 Gu master, I must, I need to get strong to save him and protect my mom..."
Dio rolled his eyes, hearing this speech, still, he convinced himself to act nicely, he patted the kid's head and said.
"Don't be silly, true practice comes from balance, when you feel an unbearable pain, you SHOULD stop, whether you believe it or not, you'll gain no physical strength for pushing yourself far beyond your limit, muscle training, should be just at the edge of your breaking point, to get the highest amount of benefits.
After giving this explanation he added.
"I'll suppress your muscle strength, by creating a few bottle-necks, on the areas close to your muscles, on this way, I'll limit the maximum amount of blood flow which can go through your body.
This bottleneck and knot will dissolve itself over time, hopefully by this point you can endure such strength, as for you, you shouldn't train any longer for the upcoming two years, but if you will it, you should use defense Gu worms to raise the overall resistance of your body."
Dio glanced at him again and whispered.
"If you truly are stubborn and wish to continue your practice, then go with me, okay?"
...
He turned his head to another patient.
This time, there was a man on chair-wheels, Dio sighed.
"Life is really hard, hah?
You've been on service since you're a teenager, yet, you're still forced to go to missions.
I admire your abilities, but I don't think I could ever endure your lifestyle."
Dio approached to him, with multiple movements he relocated the bones and repaired the nerves, and with a few of his Vampiric essence he repaired his leg and spinal cord.
He muttered.
"If you will it, you can go with me, Dio.
I promise you that you won't be mistreated any longer, as I, see the value and fuel shining even brighter through your years and...."
Dio kept spouting nonsense to convince that middle-aged man.
He wanted to expand his fighting forces, to do so, he could either buy more slaves or bring willingful subordinates to his side.
Thus, he planned to use all sort of soft tactics for this little ambition of his.
Obviously, he'd do so patiently, he was not planning to create his own subdivision on a week or so, rather, this was a plan for the long term, for the following years.
Being its main pillar, he and his reputation as a renowned doctor.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
