《Technomage》Bonus Chapter 2

Long ago, a small planet formed in a distant young galaxy. By a strange coincidence, it became the only unique planet in the entire galaxy. A strange planet, no larger than Earth, with a huge atmosphere and a small liquid core, and floating stone islands with a temperature and pressure suitable for life. It revolved around a calm star, but it had a huge magical force background.
Years passed, millennia, and life arose on the planet. At first, fragile without the beginnings of intelligence. But as the years went by, the forms of life on the planet became more and more complex. And one day the first bird made its first flight. Years passed and birds began to inhabit the entire planet. There were many. The beginnings of a social structure appeared, then the first attempts at communication.
As the years passed, the social structure became more and more complicated. The birds have learned magic. Intelligence began to develop rapidly. The birds began to take on a humanoid form. Speech appeared, and then the rapid development of society. Cities appeared. Birds began to call themselves Pteros, and their home planet - Uno.
The use of magic allowed the Pteros to follow the path of evolution - two-winged, then four-winged, and finally six-winged. Six-winged became the peak of the evolution of Pteros. There were very few of them, but they possessed great magic and were almost immortal. The whole society was subject to their will.
For many millions of years, their society was unshakable, until one day they learned to travel to the stars and other planets.
Thus began the era of expansion. In just a hundred years, Pteros have visited most of the habitable planets in the galaxy. They created on these planets portals for transition between them. And once constrained by their home planet, the Pteros began to inhabit the entire galaxy. Over time, there were trillions.

Hundreds of millions of years later, some suitable planets also gave rise to life.
After hundreds of millions of years, somewhere naturally, and somewhere artificially, local life turned into younger races. The emergence of younger races after some time began to bring discord into the once monolithic society of the Pteros.
Growing disagreements led to first conflicts, then wars, then the extermination of several races. For a while, the six-winged managed to quell any differences. And they have done it well for millions of years. But at some point, disagreements appeared between them, at first small, and then stronger and stronger.
And the Pteros themselves became different. Part, as before, was white-winged and honored centuries-old traditions. And some eventually became black-winged.
The wars grew stronger and covered more and more parts of the galaxy. It seemed that the civil war would be eternal. But at some point, the sides were able to sign an agreement. As a result, the galaxy split into the territory of white-winged Pteros and the territory of black-winged ones. This is how the empires of Light and Dark appeared. Some preached order and immutability, others preached chaos and evolution.
Skirmishes and border conflicts happened, but for millions of years, they did not lead to major conflicts. Until one sad day, the accumulated contradictions flooded out. The galactic war has begun. It went on for thousands of years. Thousands of planets and thousands of races were destroyed. But neither side could prevail over the other.
Until one historic day, there was a fatal battle on the planet ID-7145832512

A Step Behind Death
Please share your thoughts about the story! Feedback and criticism is welcome, it'll help me improve my writing. "The final year of high school is the most difficult." This statement has never been truer for Damis, a student attending one of the many schools in the City of Sundridge. He never wanted anything more than to live a peaceful life, going so far as to avoid having large group of friends, indulging in dragged out conversations, or being involved in any other activity that requires him to invest a large amount of effort to accomplish. Instead, he poured all of his efforts into studying, dwelling in his internal monologues, and complaining about the things that annoy him to his one and only friend, Noah. Before long, he ended up as one of the best students in his class. As far as he was concerned, he was content with how he lived. But, after a confrontation with an eccentric girl named May, one of his classmates since the first year of high school, things have suddenly gotten out of hand. And as a result, his life became a lot more hectic than it used to be. Bound by a deal he could not refuse, his life as May's assistant began. At this rate, can he still spend the final days of his high school life in peace? Welcome to the life of Damis, the boy who's always A Step Behind Death. The cover art is made by friend of mine. I plan on making this novel into a webtoon once it becomes the best it can be. English isn't my first language, so expect some grammar bumps along the way.

I write for fun only, and this book is an amateurish attempt at showcasing my world on The Spear and The Cross. If you still want to stick around, then go ahead. Maybe it'll be a fun ride. And also, a big thanks to my artist friend, Milkuii, for the wonderful cover art.
