《My Superhero Fantasy》Gemage part8 The Big Arrest

I think I still remember the taste of chickens. How about Kitty? Has she ever tasted it before?
Barnala put the silver coin on the counter and cuddled up the paper bag with a strong flavor diffusing into the air.
Things in the case had convinced her to hunt Tireless down. She never had a reason to reject this offer. Still, Kizac’s intimidation did enraged Barnala. It wasn’t a totally bad thing that it caused her to think about a new start in a new city. Especially a new beginning with the bounty and stuff from the suitcase.
“I will do it, Kitty. Just wait another few days,” she said as the vitality in her was activated. Her paces became faster, and her mind went into the cloud.
On the other side of Renarde Houd City, three bullets went straight through the alley. If Tireless dodged a second later, he would now have his costume covered in red instead of green. He quickly rushed to the next turnoff in front of him before the Guardians passed the last corner.
“Huh, huh, huh.” Tireless’ body was pressed against the wall, and his eyes were closed to focus on sound. Excluding the paces of the three Guardians at his back, his gasping was the only sound around.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes. His left foot walloped on the wall like a releasing spring, sending himself into the air. The rock had been thrown out at the trice when his right foot touched the opposite wall. Three bullets were launched one after another before Tireless’ right foot bashed on the wall.
The man in green was again sprung up to the sky. He saw the three Guardians in the midair. They were in a triangular alignment, the alignment that only looked smart. Tireless’ right foot was kicked out in the midair and landed on one of the Guardians’ faces. The front kick knocked the man straight down to the floor ere Tireless descended a half step in front of his body.

Tireless instantly grabbed the gun muzzle from the Guardian next to him as the Guardian finally tried to turn his muzzle toward Tireless. The man in green kept the muzzle pointing to the air before the Guardian could adjust his position.
The Guardian next to Tireless was restrained from shooting, and his body had been forced to face up merely since his gun was kept pointing to the sky. The one next to the restrained one couldn’t shoot Tireless either. The restricted Guardian blocked his way from turning his muzzle that he could only point at the front, but Tireless was at his flank. Therefore, he strode out.
Tireless swiftly rotated his body and wagged out his leg. The guardian in front of him closed his eyes with a terrified face, but the one that fell down was the one behind him. He heard the sound of falling and opened his eyes. A forest green fist was the last thing he saw.
Before he could take a second for rest, Tireless again heard the sound of hurrying paces. “Shit! They are countless!” the man started running.
He knew he couldn’t fight them all. At some point, he would be knocked down. That would be the end of his career which he hadn’t planned for. He ran out of the side road into the main street.
Tireless sprinted through the crowd and scuttled on the street. He couldn’t hear what the crowd was saying. His whole attention was on the Guardians at his back and other Guardians from other directions. Still, he had a guess on what the crowd said. “Probably, something like, ‘Help! Criminals!’” he uttered voicelessly in his mind.
Getting out of Renarde Hound and back to his city, Baylo was the only thing in Tireless’ mind. He ran to the place he fought Alpha Fox. He knew that place well enough to get back to Baylo.

The crowd on the street did buy Tireless a lot of time. At the time he got to that main street, no Guardians were around him. He ran into the ally and into the one he didn’t want to see.
Alpha Fox was standing in the middle of the ally with her arms crossing in front of her. “You won’t do what you did last night,” Alpha Fox uttered as she changed into the boxing posture. With her fists swaying in front of her mask, Tireless saw those mechanic gloves on her hands. The gloves had two pure black fabrics providing their shape, and numerous metallic armors that covered the fabrics with only a few gaps between the armors were filled with the fabric. If Tireless didn’t see what was on the back of her hands, he might just think the gloves were just regular.
Two large sockets were on the back of the gloves with two ample cassettes plugging into them.
“The cassettes……” Tireless gazed at the gloves and taunted, “So you got some state support, didn’t you?”
The Guardians’ steps sounded closer.
“I feel no guilt beating you up,” Alpha Fox ran toward Tireless with her fists hanging at her back. She treaded on the wall and bounced her body out.
As agile as always, her fist went straight to Tireless’ face. Without tricks or ruses, her fist was too candid that Tireless could catch it before it hit.
The Guardians’ steps sounded closer.
He did catch it. His palm snatched her glove, but his elbow bent as the fist kept coming closer. He didn’t even try to stop it. Instead, he dragged the fist away. The unstoppable propulsion and inertia from the glove did the rest of the job for him. They brought Fox to bypass Tireless.
Alpha was in the air for a few deciseconds but then descended to the ground. When she got up again, Tireless had already run away from the turning in the lane. She stood up and saw a squad of Guardians had arrived.
“He ran there,” she pointed at the corner, but all the guns were pointing at her. “What?” she asked.
“Fire!” the captain of the squad and the three pellets answered.
The black fabrics flickered three times in a decisecond and started glinting out a soft reddish light. Alpha’s hands became flash-like. It was faster than lighting.
A punch hit the first bullet in the air, and another hit another. The third bullet pierced a hole on her belly. Blood burst out from the wound. Her jacket was dyed red, and her legs were instantly energized. Guardians’ guns needed to reload every time they shot. She was much faster than Tireless. If Tireless could do this, she had no way to fail this.
After sprinting through numerous streets, fighting through numerous Guardians, and explaining through numerous ignorance, she lay down. With her last sight, she saw someone coming.

Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. Azrael was born as a prince in the warring world of Ost. Inheriting the title but not its privileges and oppressed by his siblings in every step of his life, he had no choice but to be subservient to their whims until circumstances spiraled him to the abyss, to a new world, and to more agreeable companions. But is he truly free from the past or will it continue to hound him to his new life? Elira had one wish… to be known more than as an offspring of the Great Phasol Family. Talented, hardworking, and stubborn, she struggled to break free from the influence of her family. Everything had been going well in her life but is she strong enough to resist the upheaval and truths of the world? William grew up in an orphanage with nothing to his name. Regaled by various tales of fantasy and greatness by his caretakers, he reached adulthood with the goal of having a legend of his own. Will he make his mark on the world or be forgotten like an ant; crushed by the boot of an unsuspecting traveler. The world of Lochley has been at peace for centuries and its undercurrents are growing restless from waiting… waiting for that spark of opportunity to ignite and swallow the world whole. Some will cause it, some will resist it, and some be drowned by it. Which one will you be?

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.

Demonizing Matters
A high fantasy drama about a young woman who finds out a demon secret. This secret sparks a growing conflict between demons and humans. While trying to save her own life and dealing with the unexpected consequences of her actions, she falls in love with a hated demon. We follow the drama of Lita, alongside a cast of several other POV characters, as she discovers secrets (both open and purposefully hidden), makes well intentioned but sometimes disastrous decisions, and encounters prejudices and truths. Demons may be evil… or not. Humans may be good… or not. God is aloof… or not. Publishing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is my first real work! Super excited to be publishing! I don’t spend a lot of time describing gore, sex, trauma or any other type of scene that would be labeled as mature. I've labeled the story as mature in every way more because I don't quite understand the standard and don't know if I've crossed the line at all (and I'd rather be safe than get my story rejected for under labeling ;)). Mostly I hint, start the scene then interrupt/fade out, and in general let the reader know it happens but without making it too explicit. (I’d love to hear how I did on this! And if it was still entertaining/informative without being traumatizing.) This is what I prefer to read myself so that’s what I write. I’m not apologizing. ;) If I mislabeled my mature content it was by accident. And, yes, the pacing was also on purpose. Beyond that, I welcome any feedback you want to give! Enjoy the story!
