RB Chapter 2 Clone AES219915
"Cold"
That was the first comment that came out of Elec's mouth upon setting foot into the lowest floor.
He sped up his blood flow so that he wouldn't get cold.
He was simply dressed in his school uniform. It was composed of blood red trousers and a white shirt with a red DNA helical pattern running down the sides of each of the shoulders at the front.
The uniform was composed of a red blazer, and Mr. Lee, who had been holding onto it, gave it back to him. Elec had been wondering why Mr. Lee had decided to bring it along.
"Come with me!" His father placed his right arm aroung his shoulders and led towards the end of the gigantic underground floor.
It was empty, save for something that looked like a blood red cocoon at the end. It was what had flabbergasted him when he had arrived.
Mr. Lee was following behind them.
"Son, what is the energy we need to shift into our battle forms?" Baguma asked his son.
Baguma Masanyalaze, partriach of the Masanyalaze clan and father of Elec. Just like many other Patriarchs of other clans, he was the founder of the Masanyalze clan.
He was currently aged 101 years and was there when the event which came to be known as the 'Biopocalypse' happened.
"Everyone knows the answer, father. It is ATP." Elec answered while wondering what his father was getting at.
"Yes, but may researchers around the world have been looking for a way to be able to absorb other types of energy. The manufacture of synthetic ATP was expensive before the biopocalypse but since not many people needed it at the time, it was manageable, that is until the biopocalypse happened and we needed to fight those beasts."
"A certain scientist from the European Federation managed to alter the DNA of certain bacteria, making them able to synthesize ATP( Adenosine Triphosphate.) But still it is inefficient. We need to carry around containers of the liquid when heading to the wilderness and if anything happens to the containers. It spells certain death." He continued.
"15 years ago, we extracted your DNA when you were still a foetus and cultivated the cells containing the DNA in a petri dish. We edited the DNA and placed it into an artificial womb."

"You see Elec, I added electric eel DNA into our DNA giving us the ability to release electricity but, what if we could absorb and store it into our bodies?" Baguma's entire face lit up at the thought. His eyes had multiple sparks of electricity running through them.
"That would be ground breaking, but what does that have to do with me?" Elec asked. He wasn't interested in such topics.
"You see, what's in the cocoon in front of you is a clone of you. It will be given birth to now. It will follow you around as we observe it. If there are no problems with it, it will be eliminated and the genes will be shared by the clan members." He answered.
"That wouldn't be a gift, now would it?" Elec asked as he narrowed his eyes.
"You will be the first person the genes will be given to and besides, your compatibility percentage will be high so there will be almost no possibility of rejection. You will become a prodigy on the same level as the scions of the clans more powerful than us." He answered.
[An electric eel generates electricity through specialised cells called electrocytes. They are on its skin. The Masanyalaze clan instead can manipulate their cells to take up the qualities of the electrocyte cells. Mostly only turn the skin cells into electrocytes.]
"Too bad the reason our clan is ranked eighth powerful is because we need contact with the target in order to zap them. We have no long range attacks." Lamented Baguma.
"But, this guy can change every cell in his body into electrocytes. He might develop special abilities which surpass ours!" He continued as his eyes zealously eyed the cocoon. Of course, Baguma had managed the same
It was approaching 3:00 pm, when, electricity started running through the outer layer of the cocoon which was shaped like an egg in vertical placement. It was a little bit taller than Elec.
As electricity ran through the cocoon, steam was produced and the air near the cocoon started becoming ionised.
The ionised air started lighting up as electricity passed through it, heating it up, but fortunately, the cocoon, whose water had been evaporated shattered into pieces and the ions were sucked and absorbed into a boy, around the same age as Elec and an exact copy of himself. The only trait different was that the boy had dark blue eyes, different from the lighter shade of the Masanyalaze clan.

His naked body was bared in all its glory but all the people here were unperturbed as they had seen many of them, including Elec.
The reason involved going to labs and seeing people who were injected with gene editors.
"Master?" The boy asked as he blinked his eyes and stared directly at Elec.
"Master?" Elec echoed but with a different feeling. He was surprised at the familiarity of the boy. He turned his face towards his father who looked at the boy like he was admiring some masterpiece.
"It has been programmed into his genes and we also entered images of your current appearance through DNA. He is imprinted on you. He will unconditionally obey you, even if you ask for his death." Baguma answered nonchalantly.
"A servant! Hahahaha...good." Elec laughed in glee.
"Don't kill him, we will also send experts in the shadows to protect him from being stolen by other clans. After we get the necessary data, then we can eliminate him." Baguma said seriously.
"Yes!" Elec answered obediently.
"Mr.Lee!" Baguma called out.
"Yes, partriach!"
"Go and find him some clothes." He ordered and Mr. Lee went back towards the elevator.
"Son, never completely trust Mr. Lee."
As soon as the elevator ascended, Baguma said to his son.
"Huh? Why?" Elec asked as he turned his vision towards his father from the clone.
"You will know in the future." He answered vaguely.
"Father! Is he going to follow me to school?"
"Yes, if anything ever happens, he has a self district gene code which will lead to the collapse of his genetic sequence. It can only be triggered by a certain frequency." Baguma said as he took out a wrist watch like device from his pockets and gave it to Elec.
"It must be worn at all times. It is weather proof and water proof. It acts as a tracker and a self district button for specimen AES219915. It is the code name for the clone and it means Alternate Energy Source, born 2199, aged 15."
"I will personally deal with the principal." Baguma added.
Even though the school was started by the ten clans, due respect needed to be given since you couldn't just enroll a person even though you were one of the founders. It was also because the principal was as strong as the clan head of the strongest clan but he never started one for himself.
"If you find a chance, get him to spar with one of those kids." Baguma suggested and Elec grinned as he understood whom his father was talking about.
Baguma didn't have any scruples discussing such secrets in front of the clone as he knew that it will never betray them. They had brainwashed it via DNA, implanted fake memories and added multiple other failsafes. He was confident nothing could ever compromise them.
The doors to the elevator opened and Mr. Lee, holding clothes stepped out of it.
He handed the clothes to the clan leader who threw them to the clone.
It caught them and started dressing itself as if it had known about clothes from birth.
"We planted memories inside it. It will not need to learn anything from scratch." Baguma said as he saw his son's shocked face.
After dressing itself, they walked out of the underground floor.
Baguma and Elec took the lead while Mr. Lee walked side by side with the clone.
He took curious glances towards it from time to time but it didn't turn around to give him a look, it was fixed on Elec at the front.
They took the elevator with the same formation, the father son pair directly at the exit.
It went upwards and even surpassed the ground floor to the topmost floor.
The doors opened to a woman who looked to be in her 20s standing at the entrance.
--------
"Hmm!?" A gruff voice leaked out of a figure seated in darkness. Only yellow pupils could be seen moving in the darkness. It signified that the voice came from a male.
"It seems like someone else who can threaten me has appeared in this city." The figure talked to himself.
He had sensed it when the clone broke out of the cocoon.
It was his instinct inherited from the genes of the predator which stood at the top of the food chain.
"The future days are going to be interesting." His majestic voice reverberated in the room before he closed his eyes.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
