RB Chapter 7 Undercurrents
A car arrived in front of a tall skyscraper. Even though breakthroughs in material science allowed such buildings to reach the clouds, they couldn't be built in this age since the dome shaped barrier which enveloped the city had height limits, preventing the construction of what was termed as cloudscrapers during the beginning of the 22nd century.
A man dressed in a black suit, had dishevelled hair and a pair of glasses over his eyes exited the car.
He was lab coat, His name was Godfrey Kizike. He had arrived in front of this building due to an invitation.
Of course he had met the people of the building plenty of times. The meetings were secret from the ten clans.
He walked towards the building, entered the elevator and pressed a blue button.
It acted as a bio magnetic field sensor, if anyone not in the database pressed it, it wouldn't work and if he or she asked the staff, they would simply tell you its faulty or it was put there for decoration.
A weightless feeling enveloped him signifying that the elevator was descending.
When the city was refurbished after its destruction at the hands of the monsters, seismic and other types of sensors were placed underneath it to detect any organisms approaching by digging tunnels.
Every organism was dangerous in this current era, so even a worm might evolve to the level of being capable of killing humans.
The elevator bypassed those sensors. It was illegal to build structures which surpassed the depth of the sensors, but some clans had done that secretly and had found ways to hack the sensors so that they don't go off.
After what seemed like 2 minutes, it reached the destination.
It was currently 7:00pm in the evening. Darkness was just starting to encroach upon the city.
Godfrey had an inkling of what he was called in about. It was about the duel which had taken place this morning.
Since he had been the referee, he was going to have to provide details about the match to his colleagues.
He walked through a corridor and arrived in front of a closed door.
He knocked twice, before opening and slipping inside.
A circular room greeted him and the middle had a large round table with ten seats spaced around it.
The nine other seats were already occupied and he walked over to occupy the empty seat.

"Sorry for calling you out on such short notice!" A voice came out from one of the people.
The light in the room was dim so you couldn't see the faces of the people, though everyone here knew each other.
"Now, the ten clans have started getting suspicious and arranging these meetings has become harder. So let's hurry up and finish our discussions." The same male voice proposed.
Grunts of acknowledgement echoed out in the room.
"Tell us, ape! How dangerous is that clone of the Masanyalaze clan?"
Another voice asked. They used nicknames at these meetings.
"He isn't dangerous, yet! The last attack he carried out was similar to Baguma's move. The good thing he consumes too much energy to move at such speeds. His cells also overheat according to what I have observed."
"They didn't allow you close?" A female voice asked.
"That brat Elec only allowed the doctor connected to their clan inside the room. All the others were barred entry." He answered as he pushed up his glasses.
"It seems we need to change the person near Elec. We need to find someone who can handle both of them." Someone proposed with a sigh.
"We can't do that! It will come off as suspicious. Let's have another one be in the shadows, so that he can strike with the other one when our plan commences." Another voice suggested. It's tone indicated it's owner was old.
"I agree with you Elder!" Lab coat supported the idea.
"Let's go with what the elder suggested." A voice surppressed any others who were going to add in their thoughts.
"The plan is close to fruition! We have to be very cautious. We can't let anything get in the way!" The person continued.
"Have you found a way to deal with that guy from the Mpologoma clan?" Someone asked.
"Don't worry, all..."
-------
The meeting lasted until 8:00pm.
Godfrey was currently outside waiting for his chauffer.
'Grandfather! Those people who didn't help you will pay!' He thought as his ride arrived and he boarded.
-------
"What is it?" Baguma asked upon hearing a knock on the door.
He had been in the dining room with the two boys and his wife. They were about to start their dinner when they were interrupted.
"An important call!" The voice outside which Elec recognised as that of Mr. Lee said.

Baguma stood up and went outside.
Lisa told the two boys to eat. They didn't have to wait for him.
Eric's eyes lit up. Lisa's cooking was something he had come to love over the weekend.
He dug in without any hesitation.
"Who is it from?" Baguma asked Mr. Lee who had been respectfully waiting.
"Its from the clan leader of the Mpologoma clan."
That raised Baguma's eyebrows.
'That arrogant guy actually called me! It must be about that duel!' He thought.
He went to his office and sat down facing a wall mounted screen.
The darkness gave way to light when he accepted the call.
A man with yellow vertical slitted eyes and brown hair appeared on the display. He had a large face, he would be mistaken for a humanoid lion if you saw him for the first time.
He was the clan leader of the Mpologoma clan, King Mpologoma.(That is his name)
"This weekend, we shall pay a visit to your clan!" He declared before the screen went dark.
Baguma and even Mr. Lee were flabbergasted.
They thought he was going to simply congratulate Baguna on having a worthy heir.
He was prideful, but that was the thing he would have said because he respected the powerful.
"It seems the clone has piqued even his interest. He must want to come and see it up close!" Baguma muttered as he rubbed his forehead.
This had gotten troublesome. That guy wasn't simple to handle.
Baguma stood up and went to rejoin the family.
"The clan leader of the Mpologoma clan will be coming for a visit during this weekend." Baguma's declaration led to cutlery slipping out of both Lisa and Elec's hands.
"Why?" Elec only managed to formulate that one word.
"Probably to see it." He answered as he gestured towards Eric who was simply enjoying his meal.
"Don't call him, it! He has a name!" Lisa protested.
"Could it be because it tied with his sons?" Elec mumbled.
They had completely ignored Lisa.
Eric didn't understand what they were talking about, so he focussed on his meal.
Tears threatened to fall out of Lisa's eyes when they ignored her but she forcefully held them in.
"I don't want you to embarrass me when he visits!" He said as he turned towards her.
"It won't happen! If it does, it will all be on you!" Lisa shouted, startling even Eric.
After seeing all of them staring at her, she took a deep breath to calm down.
The rest of the dinner was enjoyed in silence.
After dinner, Baguma left. He was going to visit his mistress. Even though he had been the one to choose Lisa, he hadn't been in love with her.
Elec didn't have any problem with it since it wasn't like he cared about his mother. He also knew that men had to have multiple women.
It is the reason he didn't put too much effort into courting Leah.
Elec didn't enter the virtual pod right after dinner like he always did. Instead, he picked up his phone and dialled Leah's number.
He placed it on his ear and waited for her to pick up.
"What is it?" Her harsh voice was the first thing he heard when she picked up.
"The Mpologomas are going to visit our house next weekend."
A gasp was heard on the other end coupled with something falling.
(Leah what happened?)
He even heard a female voice and he assumed it was her mother or maid.
"Nothing" she shouted back.
"Why?" That was posed to Elec.
"It is because of the morning duel, but even my father was puzzled! Why is their clan leader coming?"
"That's an honor! Please get me his autograph!"
Leah had completely entered fan girl mode! Shrieking was heard on the other end.
"He's the ultimate man! Every girl wants to have him!"
"Aren't you too young to be his woman?" Elec asked.
"What do you know! Even if I only get to sleep with him for one night, I would gladly accept!"
'Girls are terrifying. She is telling that to my face...a guy who is wooing her?' Damien was taken aback.
"Even my mother wa..."
The call was forcefully ended.
"Even her mother has a thing for that guy?" He mumbled.
A point of light started forming in his eyes. He had found something which he wanted. It made his heart beat when he thought about it.
He wanted to become so strong that he gets a fan girl like the Mpologoma clan partriach.
