RB Chapter 29 Edge Of Death
She had just run for less than five meters when she heard a whistling of the air behind her.
She turned her neck and saw that someone had launched themselves into the sky! It looked to be the one who had strings shooting out of his hands.
Her heart pounded in her chest! Her pupils even dilated!
"Ten clans!!! We are tired of scum like you! Even if I kill you here, no one would blame me!!!" The man was in his late twenties.
Another two pairs of appendages tore through the sides of his ribs! His genes were probably of a spider!
'Shit! I can't attack! If I entangle with him, more will swarm!' She was alarmed.
'I need to go full beast! Even though its dangerous, the instincts of a predator might protect me!'
She put that thought in motion, dropping on all fours! The hair follicles on her skin turned brown before elongating and covering her body in its entirety.
Her uniform simply burst at the seams! A long tail grew out from the back of her waist.
Her arms and legs became stronger naturally increasing her acceleration.
She had turned into the queen of the savanna. The lioness! Her claws rubbed against the concrete ground as the lioness increased its speed many fold.
'Hoh!' The man's eyes widened.
The limbs which had grown out of his body bent a little in order to dissipate the kinetic energy when he landed.
He didn't dally but instead chased after the lioness. The lioness was fast, but he was faster!
The lioness had just reached the edge of this building, when the others made it on top.
It crouched low and then...leaped! The next roof of a building was 2 meters away and dome shaped!
The moment it landed onto the domed glass, it slipped and started to slide sideways. It started panicking and it used its claws to try and slow its descent!
"Hahahahaaha...bad for you, good for me!" The man laughed as his now eight limbs landed on the glass. He didn't slip as his limbs could stick to the surface.
He moved slowly while looking at the growling lioness which was hopelessly slipping.
"Don't interfere!" He stopped the others who arrived as instead they chose to look on as the lioness slipped.

(Bang!)
The desk was hit with such force that it splintered apart.
This was in a dim lighted office, the only person inside, a brown haired and yellow pupiled woman.
No teeth were grinding or facial expressions changing, but the destruction of the table said otherwise!
It was Lena! She had stood up and was watching the slipping lioness on the news feed with a poker face. But who knew what kind of waves were behind set up in her mind.
Her entire concentration was on the live feed!
Her hands were trembling. She raised her right and tried to press the intercomm button, but ultimately, the hand was just wavering on top, not pressing or even moving away.
It was simply trembling in the air.
-------
"Shit!" A curse escaped out of Eric's lips as he jumped up from the bed.
'These people are adults and she is just a kid! Are they just going.to let her fall to her death?' He was fuming in his mind.
"Adults are like that. Besides, she did massacre many people. They were innocent too." Elec commented nonchalantly. To him, whether Elena died or not didn't matter! He was just enjoying the show.
'I wish I could save her! These adults truly...' Ultimately, he was powerless! He even had to obey the orders of this...
He gave his master a side eye.
------
"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! All policemen! We protect each and every citizen's lives! All of you arrange something to catch her below! Make sure she doesn't die!" The bald headed man bellowed into his phone! His veins were popping! He was enraged.
He violently yanked his tie downwards while watching the live feed.
He was soaked in sweat! This entire situation had gone wrong! First, a reporter had managed to get a live feed swatting the bull squad's plans of quietly saving the girl! Now this! This truly showed how cruel humans could be!
"Why don't these people understand! They are letting rage cloud their judgement! That she is just a little girl who hasn't yet graduated! This might derail our plans if she dies!"
As he was complaining loudly, a certain unique ringtone made him almost choke on his saliva.
He hurriedly scrambled to answer it. One hand was adjusting his tie and suit, while a panel...in other words, a screen rose out of his desk.

"Hello, sir!" He greeted respectfully.
On the other side of the screen, an old man with brown skin and many wrinkles marring his face appeared. He was seated on a three legged stool, with a straightened back. That alone could almost make you doubt his age.
He was casually donning a grey suit and it appeared as if the stool was simply placed upon the ground with only what appeared to be a mud wall behind him.
A brown cloth written upon with what appeared to have been charcoal was hanging on the wall behind the old man.
His gaze was still razor sharp and even the bald headed man had to gulp down a mouthful of saliva when the gaze settled upon him.
"Little brat Ntenume, I heard from Kiwuka." The old man opened his mouth and let out a powerful voice.
"Yes, joyous news indeed!" The bald man, Ntenume commented. He noticed that the old man was a little bit excited.
"I actually contacted you about the current situation in relation to her success." The old man said.
Ntenume tore his gaze away from the old man and looked towards a screen pinned on the wall opposite him showing the breaking news.
Elena had reverted back into her human form, but she was hanging off the building with one hand and the guy who had stopped the others from interfering was saying something.
Ntenume had muted the volume when he answered the old man's video call.
"How does her success impact the current situation?" He asked with puzzlement in his voice.
"This is the chance to cut off the connection we have with that woman." The old man said with a knowing smile.
"Don't pull my leg here sir, she knows a few of our secrets, if she exposes them to the other clans, our battle might become truly difficult." An awkward smile was now gracing Ntenume's lips.
"What do we have to fear now that Kiwuka has managed to produce a second one? The new system we are aiming to create doesn't require the dregs of the old one...and I also mean that young guy from the Kizike clan." The old man's eyes blazed with zeal making his gaze even sharper!
'It seems the old man truly didn't like our partnerships with them in the first place.' Ntenume felt a little overwhelmed! This wasn't easy! He was considering the consequences in his mind.
He massaged his chin as he considered the pros and cons.
"How would you suggest we cut them off?" He asked after making up his mind. He had firmed his resolve.
"That's what I like about you. You are always quick on the uptake!" The oldman clapped his hands and praised.
"Kizike can wait...change your orders to the bull squad and instead make them pursue the target with intent of custody." The old man said while settling his piercing gaze at Ntenume.
'Kiwuka must have told him about the bull squad!' He almost ground his teeth. He had almost forgotten that the woman was a loose follower of the old man. The suggestion to use the bull squad might have also come from the old man!
'What terrifying foresight!' Beads of sweat rolled down his back upon thinking things through.
"For Kizike, he must be somewhere close. Send someone to notify him to find a way to escalate the situation. I feel bad for the little girl, but this chance has been created by someone and we can't just simply let it go!" The old man said before cutting off the communication.
"Haaa...being in his presence is always hard!" Ntenume sighed. He felt drained, like he had overused his brain.
"Why doesn't the old coot kick the bucket?" He wondered.
"Captain!" He called out as soon as he speed dialled.
"Yes!" Someone on the other side of the line answered.
"Your orders will be changed. Now, you don't have to protect the target, buy work with the other units to capture her! Remember! She can't die!" He ordered.
"Yes sir!" The voice came once again before Ntenume cut off contact.
He collapsed back into his chair after giving the order.
"Why can't I get any respite!? I want to rest!" He shouted the moment another call came in. Veins were pulsing on his temple but he calmed down upon seeing the identity of the caller.
He first rearranged his thoughts before answering. It was a voice call on his personal phone.
"Good Afternoon, chief Ntenume." A calm feminine voice came through the speaker.

Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder
I, Mick Chadwick, regret to inform my readers that this memoir contains nothing but the truth, which in the case of Tobias MacClain, most ridiculed as Pajama Boy, is far from pleasant. If you seek to relate to a hero more than to aspire to them and have the stomach for unpleasant things such as a hero left for dead, villainous scars, bomb threats, and murderous intent, then look no further. All of these gruesome things and more await from my research, and though I do not wish them on any man or woman, I cannot bear this burden on my own much longer. In the words of Tobias MacClain himself, "Sometimes, a villainous act can cause the greatest good." I hope that all my villainous acts of sneaking, blackmailing, diary-reading, and grave-digging, among others, will be redeemed as I present this complete and truthful memoir to the world, and with any luck, open eyes to the truth of what we call "villainy". Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder ********* MATURE FILTER IS FOR:- violence- graphic imagery (blood, burns, fairly dark headspaces)- cartoon depiction of burn scars for visual aid Despite graphics, Mick Chadwick's writing keeps Mr. MacClain's terrible tale light somehow. This is foremostly a comedy.
