RB Chapter 42 Narrow Escape
A blur passed by certain plants growing on the forest floor causing the leaves to rustle. It was moving at such speed that, it made you wonder whether moving at such speed wasn't dangerous.
Eric didn't look back. But he could feel the bird behind him. It had dark feathers and its yellow eyes were like lanterns in the dark. They were as large as his fist!
It fluttered its wings as it moved around the trees and if a branch got in the way, a peck was all that was needed to fell it!
'This is bad! I might die here and if my suspicions are correct, there must be something the creatures gain by killing you.'
An explosion happened beneath his ground as he launched forwards, narrowly avoiding the bird's claws.
He had charged the ground below with electrons and repelled himself off of it. It was complicated, even he, only did it unconsciously.
'What other ability do I have?' His heart was pounding in his chest.
"No! I need to stand and fight! If I stay on the run, my mental faculties will become burdened and I won't be able to think straight!" Eric shouted as his eyes lit up like torches.
He waited for his chance, and then, when a tree two meters in width apperlared in front of him, he ran along its length and then...
(Boom!)
It splintered and a crater appeared on its stem. Eric had launched diagonally, setting a collision course with the bird. It was a little bit higher, so he was diagonally heading towards it.
"Oh!" A cry of surprise rang out from the bird! His head was on a collision course with its beak!
It flapped its wings to increase its speed! It thought that the human had given up and was heading to his death.
Two meters away, its beak opened as it prepared to devour him.
'I should start with the head and then eat him slowly so that I can savour the goodness.' It was excited! It was one of the few beasts which could devour humans! It could prevent their virtual bodies from disintegrating after death!
Its heart was beating in excitement! What secret do the eyes of the boy contain? That's what it wanted to find out! After all, stealing such abilities was the only way to evolve in this virtual world.

'Eric, stay calm. Think! This beast still doesn't understand the full extent of your abilities! I need to catch it by surprise.'
His skin cells started vibrating...or you could say rubbing against each other. He had activated all the cells on his skin.
Little arcs of electricity started being produced!
'Not enough!' He increased the speed and the arcs added up, merging into multiple bolts of electricity which started slithering across his skin.
The bird's eyes widened upon seeing the bluish arcs of electricity on his skin!
'So it also has fear!' Eric's confidence was boosted and a grin couldn't help but form on his mouth!
They were too close, but the bird, flapped its wings at such speed that its body started raising upwards! It was aiming to pass above him.
It must have detected a danger as it had even hurriedly closed the cavernous mouth.
'I won't let you get away!' That thought was born in Eric's mind!
As it passed over head, with only a few inches from touching the boy, it relaxed its vigilance.
Eric saw that he couldn't reach it, even though it was just a short distance causing a curse to form in his mind.
He could even catch the contours of the bird's feathers underneath its belly! It was clever, it had even bent its claws close to its stomach!
'You won't get away!' Eric currently had his body charged up with a massive amount of electricity and this might also be the only chance he might get to land an attack, so there was no way he was going to miss it!
His brain worked furiously! He noticed the droplets of water on his skin, he picked up one, gave it charge, and flicked it!he had sped up his entire cellular activity to reach such phenomenal speed that even a movement of his arm was multiple times faster than the bird's flight speed!
The bird twitched when the drop made contact with its body causing its legs to lower at a fast speed!
A chance had appeared! One leg was a mere two inches away from Eric. His finger blurred as he tapped the claw twice!
The second tap caused Eric's finger to burst index finger to burst apart into blood mist as he was repelled directly towards the ground!
He had only isolated the electrical charge around the claw as he knew that this bird, which was larger than him would repel him more violently since he was smaller, and it wouldn't achieve his objective!

The lowered claw once again folded into the belly from the repulsion causing a dull thump.
The beast moaned in pain as it furiously beat its wings.
Eric crashed into the ground and his mangled body dug almost seven meters underground! The moment his body impacted the ground alone caused him to lose consciousness!
"I was tricked!" A high pitched cry pierced through the night sky!
The bird hurriedly swooped down but it was all in vain! Eric's body had already turned into notes of light which were drifting into the night sky.
It stomped the ground with its claws and felled trees with its wings causing quite the commotion and raising massive amounts of dust and broken plants. It was enraged!
Something cut through the air and sucked its body as it was causing a commotion! On one of the nearby trees, something almost invisible to the naked eye appeared! It had swallowed the bird in one gulp!
If Eric had been here, he would have recoiled in horror! This creature wouldnt have registered in his All spectrum vision at all!
------
"Haaaaaa, haaaa..." Eric sat up from the virtual pod breathing heavily. That had been dangerous! The only plan he had managed yo come up with was to plot his death! That was how dangerous his encounter had been!
'I was too arrogant! I still lack lots of experience!' He thought.
'If I had just been careful, that wouldn't have happened! But on the bright side, I discovered a new ability!" That alone was enough to have his face light up in a heartfelt smile.
'I wonder what other abilities I have! Strange, very strange, I don't think a normal electric eel has this kind of vision, I also don't think that my slots have been filled in, so what could be going on?'
This was truly something strange but there was no one he could ask as he didn't trust anyone in this family. Outsiders might want to experiment on him.
'I wish I had someone I could trust.' He thought as he dragged his body towards his bed. He wasn't in the mood to go back into the virtual world.
-------
"Leo, one day you will pay for this!" In the hut, elder Muti shouted. He had just come back and he had finally gotten to a place where he could be alone. It was currently just 9:15pm.
Elder Muti loved being in the shadows, but Leo's dousing of the public's anger had driven him to show himself.
Leo had reminded the citizens that no one was capable of fighting against the ten clans. Even the people had believed it since even the ATTCA hadn't yet revealed someone strong enough.
No one else could come to the fore since they were relatively unknown and they wanted to keep their trump cards hidden, so he'd had no choice but to appear!
He breathed out heavily and sat down on the stool. He was trying to calm himself.
'What happened has already passed, now we need to go along with it.'
"How goes the surveillance of the clone? Has he found anything concrete yet?" After calming down, he contacted someone.
"No, Baguma is tight lipped and no information has been saved in the database of the Masanyalaze clan. But it must be important since it lives with his son." A deep male voice answered.
"Could it be connected to his son, no no no, Baguma wouldn't create something not beneficial to him. There must be a secret to that clone. But how do we find it?" Elder Muti mumbled. The other person seemed to know that the elder was talking to himself so he didn't interrupt.
"Baguma is the only clan leader I can't figure out! The others have their desires visible but its like he lacks ambition! But how can that be since he started a clan? We need to find the secrets of the clone before our showdown. I wouldn't want to be blindsided during the D-day." He spoke through the phone before hanging up.
"Baguma Baguma Baguma...what are you hiding? Could it be that you are preparing to challenge your rival?" He mumbled while tapping his chin. His face wasn't calm.
All theses problems and unknowns had the potential to affect his plans!
Leo and Baguma were the two threats that needed to be neutralised.
TRIVIA
Well...this time I will introduce another of the ten clans, the Njovu clan. They have the genes of elephants and they are an isolationist clan. They don't care about what happens in the outside world at all!
