I got the 2 dintyle healers and bob to heal me, the wounds were already healing before that, this world is weird. I was annoyed with not getting my essence from the beasts I killed, so I looked at what happened.
And what I saw was pretty shocking, my essence was rising like crazy, looks like I retrieve my essence when I look at the battle log. I looked at the name of the new beasts, and they all have unique names like Gerry, Hubo, Fdsgfsv'sdgjksdv, cannon fodder. I looked at the monster pinned down "Really, you called one of your followers 'cannon fodder'? Even I don't do that." I looked at the monster with with honest disdain, and the monster looked back with a gaze that said that I wouldn't even name them "Well that's true, but just, 'cannon fodder' is just to far. For me, I don't really care if you do it."
Hemdal seemed confused muttering "Seems like he went insane."
I glared at him "You are throwing stones while living in a glas house, me insane, you're even more crazed than I am. You completly accept that I can teach you magic, you have no problem making an oath that makes you unable to go against me at all, and you call me insane, you are inane."
He seemed hurt by it, but kept a smile to hide it "Then can you tell me why that beast is still alive."
I put my fingers on my forehead "Tsk, tsk, tsk." I looked Hemdal taking my fingers of my forehead "It's not a beast, it's a monster. And why it is alive is that it could be useful."
Hemdal was confused and asked "What is a monster? The word feels familiar, but I don't remember it."
I ofhandedly said "They're like, uh, the things the church hate with a burning passion. For, uh, like having something to do with an evil god." The monster on the ground protested, being angry aboout being associated with an evil god.
Hemdal questioned "Which god? like there is one for wind, air, fire and earth, which one is it?"
I went into deep thought, that bible he had to memorize didn't say anything about which one. but making an easy assumtion for a fantasy land "Probably the opposite of light, darkness." The Monster panicked, I again looked at it with disdain "Yea, what did you expect it would be, the god of time?" The monster got offended due to that.

"The god of darkness huh" Hemdal said "If we use that monster, we would become the enemy of the church." I nodded "Then we should align ourselves with the god of darkness."
I nodded with enlightenment "That's, actually a good idea. But you're thinking of doing it openly, I think you're looking down on the church, they could destroy the intire empire if they wanted. We can't deal with them right now, or while we live so we need to keep it safe and under raps."
In a moment of weirdly inteligent behavior he asked "Then what should we do?"
"Go to the second floor, then think it over." I said, what, this is a sudden situation where I need time to make answers for "Now, go, go, go!" I ran away, telling bob to pick the monster up, and Erebus to follow me and protect me. I needed some time to make a good plan, when we entered the path to the second floor the tunnel was far more suitable for humanoid life to use, there was a hand rail, and I found it weird. I liked it, but I was wondering why it wasn't there in the fire element dungeon.
It wasn't as hard or dangerous as the previous dungeon, it didn't even take 3 minutes to get to the next floor, a smile formed on my face, that was so much nicer than the first time. The mental strain was slowly disapearing, I could go back to playing with mana and do my things.
I just walked around randomly for like an hour, then started setting up camp. Created an artificial tunnel like the last time in this dungeon, apperently Hemdal had something like a sleeping bag, I liked it and took it for myself. I set it up and lied inside of it, it wasn't that comfortable but better than the cold floor, and Hemdal had a spare with him anyways. I told Erebus and bob to protect me while I sleep and stop the monster from attacking me and keep it in the cave. and protect hemdal from beasts and monsters and beasts while I was asleep. And went asleep, but next time I realized I'm woken up by that guy "Aren't you going to teach my magic?"
I yawned and asked Erebus {How long was I asleep?} I felt much better in the amount of my mental strain
The drake said [5-6 hours or so.]
I stood up "Yea we could do it right now, I can't really promise it'll work without side effects or if it will work at all. you are going to be my first human subject, be ready for pain." I walked towards him and said "Don't move." And he stopped, oaths are so nice. Just put my hand over where the guys heart should be, put my mana in with small quantities. And the heart wasn't there, he had situs inversus (Look it up). Unlucky, I took back my mana and do the place the heart should be with situs inversus.

While I was doing this Hemdal was in pain, but I didn't care enough about him to notice it. The mana came into contact with the heart and was blocked by the mana that hid there, I then made my mana go around Hemdal's body randomly impacting the mana in the heart. Did that for a while, then stopped took my mana back, stepped back "You should be able to feel mana where your heart is located." I yawned again, I looked around and saw that there were 2 ofshoots of the artificial tunnel, the lab rats were doing their thing in one and the monster was doing their thing in the other ofshoot. I was still tired so I went back into the sleeping-bag like thing, and went back to sleep.
Then I woke up again, I wasn't remembering my dreams like usual. I saw our little cave be larger than when I went to sleep, there was a stone table, there was a smoother floor. I thought of it as weird, what do I did for the dead of the lean dead for the dalgum demons, sorry I needed to get the shakespear out of me.
Hemdal was sitting on the floor turned away from me, playing with the monster, he probably got annoyed with not knowing what to do with his mana and started playing with the monster due to boredom. I stood up and stretched, I wasn't tired anymore, nice.
I took out some rations and ate it quickly, then put on all my gear, no more looking down on beasts. I was thinking of new things to do with my time, I could go back to muscle enhancement technology, or I could go back to my efficiency addiction and make the two node light shit. But the most attractive thing was those two things I did in my panic with the monster, that mana bolt and that blast that came from losing control over mana, think of how my power would grow if I made that blast but artificial. I steeled myself for war and ran out of the cave, running toward a new use of my time.
I saw one of those dintyles, when I came close I took out my sword and started filling it with arcana. this dintyle rushed at me with a burst of above average speed, then went back to normal speeds, jumped at me, slash, you get the gist. died easily, I liked that, it showed that the wild ones got the same skill choices as my lab rats.
I took the corpse into the ring, I got mana to build up in my hand. Then I searched for more prey, I found one and put a mana bolt through its skull. A pop-up apeared, but I ignored it, I had a great duty. I walked towards the corpse, stood on top of it, and squated twice quickly in succession, you could call it teabagging. What? You think I'm going to be completely fine after almost dying? No! I'm still salty! And I need an outlet for my seething rage, alright! Looking at the pop-up I made a small smile.
You have obtained the skill 'Crude mana bolt' B
Crude mana bolt B 0%/100%
Create an inefficient crude bolt of mana.
I didn't like it that it said that it was crude, but I was in agreement that it was crude and inefficient. But I wanted to grind like a normal guy, found another one quite quickly I was getting better at this. I needed to sate my inner weeb, so I yelled "Mana bolt!" when before I made my mana bolt, fun thing, without my input it formed and no mental strain generated. Wasn't this world a bit to much like an isekai novel world, but isn't this world more of a china land inspired place not the japanese isles. Like this monster tamer and blood contract was a signature for some of the china novels I read when I was growing old and had a lot of free time like always.
I Then tried to find another loser, I was thinking of a way to find them faster, then I remembered that Erebus literally had a mastery called 'Tracking mastery'. I was annoyed, I had again forgotten a thing that I could use, and I was to lazy to get Erebus to come towards me. So I just continued looking for them, and killing them, and making fun of them in the progress.
Like this one that I broke all of its legs then made a little dance and shot it in the head with a mana bolt, another one I kicked it in the stomach and said "Ahh, are you hurt?" Then Put a bolt thought it's head, ignore that I said 'mana bolt' every time I fired one, without it the skill wouldn't get exp. Continuing my 'therapy', I looked around for more 'stress bals'.
While searching for 'therapy materials', I was having thoughts about stuff with this new skill. Things like, what would happen if I wispered the skill name, or if I in some way would be able to speak two words at the same time, and the power I would gain if I combine it. I cackled at the thought it self, in my mind of course. I found my next time sink.

Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
