I opened my eyes and I was again in the god room 'I am so dead.' I thought fearing a certain angel girl. I sighed in honest relief when I saw that no one except me was in the room, wait no one? weird, but that last dream was even weirder for me personally. I felt as though the dream I dreamt was actually me remembering an old memory, weird. well, this is a fantasy world so it isn't that crazy to have some weird memory-adding dream.
Pulling me out of my thoughts was a formless dark mass growing in the center of the room, I tensed-up and got a rend blade ready. But the space mana wasn't getting refined, how was my signature move not working?! Wait... signature move, since when? Since I bought it from the wizard tower 5 decades ago, since then I've been upgrading it constantly. Just to be sure nothing weird happened fudamentally I checked my status, I had gained a point in my charisma. This was so weird, and I somehow forgot how to make space mana. Wait, mana can have an element? Yes, yes it can.
Without me realizing the dark mass had assumed a humanoid form "You ok?" It said in a undetermined voice, seemed that I had been moving around in a panic.
"Maybe?" I really wasn't sure, I wanted to have some time to sort things out "Just so you know I'm no able, ok."
It nodded "Yea, I know. You're Howard Payne, right?" What is it talking about? My name is Arthur wyrm.
Like any good semeritan would, I told it "Sorry, but I think you've got it wrong. I'm Godfrey Lestat, don't ya know?" Wait I was Able wasn't I? And Howard Payne was the fake name I gave that angel girl, right? Eh, having another name to remember wasn't that big of a problem, right?
"Sure." It said unconvinced, I think "Whatever you say." At least it knew not to put its nose in places where it shouldn't be "I want to sponsor you, you do know what that is right?"
"Yea, I do." I chose to just act like I had nothing to do with able and escape without any danger to myself in the long run, that's what I did with Loser the dumb back at the castle. Wait, who's that? Probably a nobody, yea they definitely were.
"Ok, then I'd like for you to at least listen and consider it." I nodded, and wondered how I would make a new undead legion without knowing how to make undead anymore. And I would also need to make Grimrid again, so much to do.

The being had already lost all hope "You won't have to do anything I tell you to do." That instantly got my attention, only a bit, but still "I don't really know what else to offer you, you apparently like organized crime. I have a sob story but you won't even care about it, I can like offer you skills and stuff if you offer me prayer and stuff." That last part instantly got my full attention.
"Skills and stuff?" My intrest hightening.
The being started to put in that tiny hope into its veins "Well, gods can reward mortals with power with divine power. Divine power being gained in many ways, through prayer, live sacrifice, offerings, having shrines or temples, and many more ways." Intrest going up.
"Tell me more about these 'live sacrifices'." I said.
"It's pretty basic, you kill something in a sacrificial ritual. It gives good amounts of divine power, but it only works on the sentient races" it said
"That wouldn't be a problem." I decided to give the dark blob in the form of the humanoid an offer, it probably couldn't refuse "I'll accept on a few conditions."
"Wait, really?" I nodded, and it instantly got a piece of paper out of nowhere "Add your conditions to this, and sign it." It was very hopefull
When I saw it I had the instinctual feeling that I could change the conditions if I will it, weird but reasonable when dealing with the divine. The contract was bare bones, it said that if I sign it I would be officially recognized as the being's sponsored and that was it. I added to it that I had control over 50% of the being's divine power gained through my actions, that if it even wanted to tell anyone my name it would have to refer to me as Isaac Devonshire and that I can hide from its eyes whenever I want. These conditions seemed reasonable to me, if it didn't accept these conditions I would just not take the risk of getting into Gaia's crosshairs.
Luckily the black blob had logic in its head instead of emotions, it signed it immeadiately. Then I made sure the contract wasn't changed, then signed it. I was again sucked out of the god room, just like last time.
I woke up with the framework making its appearance, a bit enthousiastic.
Congatulations!
You have become a sponsored of the god of darkness!
Title 'Sponsored one' has been gained. You have gained a sub-screen based on your sponsorship contract. You have gained a sub-screen from your title 'Sponsored one'.
You have become the follower of a formless deity..
I was extremely displeased with me being reffered to follower, I quickly made it clear to the framework that I'm a business partner not a follower.
Congatulations!
You have become a sponsored of the god of darkness!
Title 'Sponsored one' has been gained. You have gained a new function based on your sponsorship contract. You have gained a new function from your title 'Sponsored one'.
You have become the business partner of a formless deity, do you wish to give it form?
Yes/No
Wat. Formless deity, waz at?
A formless deity, is a deity that has lost all followers. As followers give form, they have lost their form, and over time their memories.
Oh the framework's back, that's nice. What was I going to ask it again? Eh, it's probably nothin'.

Let's first focus on my new sponsored title.
Titles:
Sponsored one:
You have recieved a sponsorship from a deity.
You unlock access to the quest function. Your sponsor's gifts to you are more cost effective for the sponsor.
Quest function? I've never heard of this, strange.
No quests from sponsor.
Do you wish to issue a quest?
Yes/No
I can issue quests? I need to test this.
Recipient:
Requirements:
Reward:
Quest type:
....
I made the recipient Erebus, the requirements being to to 'turn >360 degrees', the reward was 1 essence, and the type was personal. I could do more but this was just a test, I didn't need to go all out.
Quest has been registered.
Recipient is your blood beast...
You have no need to transfer the quest to the recipient.
Cool, I guess, at least it works. Erebus was a little shocked and looked at something, it then started to stand up.
Your quest has been accepted.
After standing up, Erebus did a 360.
Erebus has completed the quest.
-1 essence.
When I looked at my status and I had lost one essence, and Erebus had gained a little adition to its status that told the amount of essence it had. It had one, cool I guess.
I could still give that god a form, there was also some info about sponsored in the legends of old. Something about them talking with their god, testing this little myth wouldn't hurt 'You, dark god-thing.'
I heard a voice in my mind that I instinctually knew wasn't mine 'Yes, and I'm a darkness deity, not a dark god.'
'Oh, ok.' I told the dumb god that gave in to such unfavorable terms, but it may have been good in its eyes. But man that quest function, just think of the uses. I could use it to secretly parle confidential info, or act like an npc to the hero. So many options, and what was that other function again?
Divine power: 0
*Shop*
I couldn't buy anything from the store, like it just didn't open. I was rejected with a.
Access denied.
No divine power.
Shame, wonder how I should make some divine power.
'Don't ignore me!' A deity yelled 'At least give me form, that's so important for me to survive!' It whined.
'Fine, fine, fine. I'll do it, but tell me what giving you from pertails first.' I told it, trying to wring as much info as possible.
'How do I explain this? Umm, like. You know that my element is darkness, giving form lets me have other attributes, like deception, seduction, crime, loyalty, justice, you get the picture.' And I did, I could give the deity a power over monsters like gaia had over beasts. There was probably more to it than that but that wasn't my problem. Of course I quickly gave the deity form, why wouldn't I make it stronger?
Choose attribute(s)
*Record*
______
I could choose between the record or make one myself, I made one myself; magic. This was non-negotiable, it was my 'thing' so it became the deity's 'thing' too. I didn't really have an idea on what to give it except that it had to do with intelligence or charisma, the whole thing that made darkness element beasts attractive is that they have a high INT stat. And my most glaring weakness was my charisma, I need to convince people to go against the only god they've ever known, I can't do that with an average CHA stat!
I saw a lot of good ones, but they weren't 'amazing' to me personally. A few examples are; ruling, love, judgement, emotions, wrath, patience, life, thunder, electricity, space-time, math, money. some of the ones that interested me greatly was; death, deception, space, time, gluttony and the soul. Death, 'cause necromancy. Deception, 'cause tricking people is great for recruitment. space, 'cause making a cubic space and then shrinking it is a sure fire way to kill someone. Time, 'cause having time manipulation is over powered. Gluttony, 'cause it may have something to do with eating something and getting stronger because of it. the soul, 'cause its the soul ok, what did you expect? its a soul, the thing I have.
I threw time, space and death away. I was planning on using it with magic anyways, having them overlap wasn't what I was planning. so I have to choose from deception, gluttony, and the soul. I chose deception, but I could pick another so I picked the soul. And I could pick another one, but I didn't pick another one in fear of making the deity unstable, I wasn't sure that would happen but you can never be too carefull when dealing with gods. Learned that a couple decades ago, wait what? Oh yea, dreams are weird.
When I was satisfied two screens appeared, one a design panel (So you won't see it), the other I don't feel like explaining.
Choose name: ____
I don't feel like I need to explain what that screen's purpose is, else you dumb AF.
I looked at the design panel, I could sculpt the deity's future body as I wished. I was able to put a description on everything, meaning I could straight up make one cell a fire breather another able to consume poison and another able to teleport anywhere in the world. Think of the possibilities, I definitely did.
I chose to keep the design simple, a dragon, wastern non disgusting childrens book shit, you get me? I gave the description that it could shapeshift and that it could feel how to do it instinctually, nice and basic.
Now, a name. The type of name I used with grimrid wouldn't fit with this, I needed a unique name that could be used to name a humanoid. Deais sounded good, it did whine about being a deity afterall. Yea, lets be petty for once. And it doesn't even sound that bad, the deity will never know.
Are you really satisfied?
I nodded to it, at least it could recognize it. I heard a little voice readying itself 'Breath in breath out, you can do this.'
Forming deity....
'Ahhhhh!' the deity started to scream in agony 'Why is it so much more painful than last time?!?!' I wished I could see it myself, I heard a few screams from the dei- Deais over a minute. Then just static noise, it was annoying so I hid from Deais's eyes which stops them from communicating them if I want it to. Like they can still see what I'm up to right now but they can't talk to me, because it's 'eyes' are the thing communicating with me. technicalities, the path of the future.

This story is not a really serious work, I will use it to train my writing skills before going back to my other stories (Jezoi, and Vlaryne) that are currently on hold.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
