I was currently conversing with the Hemdal guy, yep, that's his name. He was so close to using mana on his own, so close. He couldn't sit still long enough to train with his family, so he did it here. Though I found it absolutely bonkers that he needed to sit still to move and feel his mana, it wasn't that bad.
Suddenly he started to celebrate after a few seconds of complete pause "I did it! Ha ha, I'm a mage! Just a bit and I'll be able to use magic or arcane techniques!"
I needed to put his measly arrogance down "Yea, in like a year."
Hemdal sighed a bit, it was late, but he wondered something "Who's that?" He said while pointing towards the girl slave, I laughed a bit "A slave, you recognize her?" Hemdal nodded, to my suprise "Yes, she was one of the 'The girl''s companions. An arch-mage on her death, was part of the tower. She had 'Bad memories' of you, she was your slave and you abondoned her on your runaway."
If that's the plot, why don't I not do that? Not abuse the girl, and fake it till I make it. Since the girl was close by, I said in a relaxed tone "Oh really? It doesn't really matter, if she starts to hate me or something like that, I'll just have her limp corpse fertilize my soil." The girl shuddered a bit, trying to hide it "But if she does well, why not let her take her stage."
I wondered a bit "How did she die exactly?" Hemdal chuckeled a bit "You killed her when 'The girl' tried to attack you once, she was an annoyance in your own words and killed her like she was a child."
My movements paused for a second "Wait, I got to that level?" That was quite suprising "Yea," Hemdal said "You got to the level of arch-magus, probably beyond, but there wasn't a higher classification."
"What was it exactly?," I said as if a detective solving a case "Her name?" Hemdal wondered for a bit then said "Luna."
I nodded to myself for a bit "What did 'The girl' get?" Hemdal looked at me confused "She didn't go into that, much. She didn't even get to the rank of new-born mage." Sounds weak, I should set up my own ranking system. Then I'll be able to control and understand it better, that'd be best.
"That's good, we'll make sure she doesn't even get the chance to use magic anymore, got it?" He nodded to my words "Good, remember, you're going to get sent out of the family after you can make constructs. After that you will make a small group of mages under you, with an oath to stop them from spreading magic to other places. Then make your move as the magic tower after getting an attack spell, understood?" Another nod "You can give those goons some big job, then give them a big title mid-way into that part of the plan, got it?" Another nod

He was going to become the founder of the magic tower, he had enough talent for the job, at least the minimum to be known as the creator of magic "Actually, I'm re-writing your title from 'founder of magic' to 'escaped experiment of the runaway noble'. You're not talented enough for the first title in my books, but I am. And we need you to have a connection to me, mostly hostile too."
Hemdal was reluctant, the title was so great, but he understood "Fine, but we need to make me the founder of modern magic." I laughed a lot "Fine, you got yourself a deal" I laughed a little "But we got to seperate and isolate two kinds of magic activation and usage kinds."
Hemdal smiled deviously "I already know what! Chants! You don't use chants, and I don't mean just saying the skill name!" I nodded calmly "That is what shows you to have unbelievable amounts of talent! Chantless magic is the original that you use! And chanting will be my invention to let the not supremely talented use magic or arcane techniques!"
I looked around then pointed at the slave girl, I leaned in and wispered "Could she do chantless?" He shook his head "I'm sure she didn't even know the principles behind it, you completely monopolized chantless with your goons with an oath to stop the spread of your chantless magic or anything superior. Someone overcame this by making chantless that was only inferior in the chant and a 15% loss in strength"
I raised my eyebrow "Are you sure I wasn't in complete control of the magic tower? That's exactly the weakening I'd like for others that haven't signed a complete loyalty oath, hmmmmmmmm?"
He shook his head "Remember, I was one of the elite, but I wasn't in your circle, so I'm not sure about everything you do!"
I sent him away with his mission, told Osgar to get him a new room all to himself because he made a great acomplishment in life, and he shall now progress his path beyond what is known. It would easily be accepted, all the elders like me after getting bribed constantly. Though in reality they were just waste disposal workers, disposing of my grand over flowing hoard.
I'm so happy I gave them a lot of gifts, it makes my life so much easier.
I looked at the girl, I wonder what name I should give her? Ariel? Alice is too cliche for me, but it's a classic. Needleheimer? Sounds nice and norse like a lot of this place's, but it just isn't out of woman land. Penelopy? naaa, I'm still from the twenty-first century, not the 15 hundreds. Let's just go with a name from where I originated, Isla nublar? Sounds... Good actually. It's cool, and quite unique.
That will be her 'real' name, now with the 'fake' name. Luna will be good enough, it sounds like a name that works for whatever kind of galge/etome game this is "You! Your name is now Isla, got it?" She was in the middle of something with a tree outside "What did you say?"
"Your name is Isla now, or are you deaf?" She seemed to say something, but stopped. She got an idea, a defiant idea. She said with a mocking tone, going against my authority "What was that?"
I smiled, and slowly let it drop into a frown. As I did that she moved away from the tree, and behind her, the tree was destroyed. The wind passed and her hair swayed at it, the wind that was the aftermath of an attack that was 'officially' planned to take her life.

She looked behind her, seeing Erebus irratated and with its claw standing on the tree just chopped down. Where she just stood was a gash in the earth, showing the raw soil beneath. She took a gulp, she was nervous. But wouldn't her master help her again like last time? That's probably what she thought "What the hell are you doing?!"
-Third person-
She felt a warmth in her body slowly bubbling, that was her master! Someone who'll protect her! "I told you, if you want to kill her! Do it without stopping mid-way!"
Her childish face's pupils dilated 'What's going on?' She took a step back sub-consciously, what was happening was weird "No second chances or warnings! That's loser speak! Kill in an instant! loose ends shouldn't be! A! Thing!" Able sighed in dissapointment "I think you misunderstood the thing about punishment, something at that level deserved a human adult kick to the stomach, not a claw strike."
Isla, she had already accepted her new name, it being far better than a large number, was still in shock. Her master was nice to her, not overly, but far beyond what she was told she'd get after having her hair seen. The same with if she didn't have it seen, but a little less of a drastic difference "Stay outside for a while, I'll do this myself."
Isla stepped back nervously, scared and afraid "Come with me," Able said, he sighed and continued at a lower level of decibles "How troublesome..." Isla heard it though, she knew it was futile to resist, and just followed.
Able took a pair of chairs and a table out of the stock pile with his spatial ring, and ancient creation, for the anything above bronze rank. The table and chairs were put down in an empty space close to a corner, Able sat on the larger, more imposing and luxurious of the two chairs "Take a seat, you need not worry of the consequences."
Isla took a seat nervously, she was still afraid after the encounter close to taking her life moments ago "I won't punish you for your transgression only moments ago, I believe you have learnt your lesson from Erebus's escapade, correct?" Isla nodded her head nervously, and erratically.
Able smiled unconsiously "Good, I hope you understand a fact," Able said, his smile paused, his eyes exposing a very cold glint, as if Isla's life was worth less than the dirt beneath their feet "That this place isn't your playground." Isla shuddered, she subconsiously looked down.
Able stood up, slowly, step-by-step, walking around the table. He exsuded a presure of a true noble, ruling his land with fear instilled into the hearts of his subjects "What did I tell you?" Isla shuddered again, not even daring to move her head. Able gently put his hand on her chin, grasping it. Then forcefully turned it towards his face "What did I say!?" When she just stared in fear, he got angrier "What did I say?! Tell me now!"
"T-t-t-that-t-t..." Isla tried to say something, but couldn't get it out of her mouth. Able sneered for a bit then said once more "What, did, I say? How about, you, tell, me, now."
"I-It's that this place I-sn't M-my play gro-und." Isla said nervously, and able smiled. A radiant smile appeared, as if the cold personality from earlier was just an illusion "It's good that you understand," Able laughed a bit "I hope you don't do anything like that again, that'd be a travesty." Able put a hand on her head and rubbed "I'm still a noble afteral, so please behave from now on."
Able walked back to his seat with the same speed as earlier, while Isla looked down the entire time, tension building up "Look up, or what? Are you afraid of the light now?" Able said somewhat mockingly, he didn't seem to like the current, atmosphere.
And it maraculasly worked, being a mixture of artificial charisma and Isla's want to also get rid of the current atmosphere, even if sub-consious. Able sighed a bit then changed the topic "I'm going to the academy in a month, and you're coming with me." This wasn't a question or a suggestion, it was a straight order "When you're in the public, your name is Luna," Able again got his cold disposition "Do you understand?"
A bunch of nods afterwords Able sent Isla away "Such a bother..." Able said "At least she seems shaken, the beginning is always the hardest."
-First person again-
Alright the 3rd person part is over, it makes it easier to show the effects of a scheme. Isla is quite easy to influence right now, that is a benefit in the beginning, but if I don't get her thought process harder to influence after I'm done conditioning her, other people could easily make her turn on me. Just a little bit of real care and friendship and she'll become a mindless and entitled pawn, she'd easily give away her body to the person who will show her affection.
All I need to do for now is make her understand her position, and after she's going to be obidiant in the short term, I'll start teaching her the real side of humanity. The side that most people don't even realize they have inside themselves, I'll show it to her and then she'll start becoming a more permanent part of my plans. But for now she won't learn anything on a higher level of importance except that I can act well.
And maybe that I have some schemes, these schemes will all be cover ups for the real ones. She'll stay a puppet till the end, only, she'll become a more knowing puppet over time if things go well.
I rested my elbow on the arm rest and made a fist, resting my head on top of it "Thinking about it now," I said "This is my first long term scheme, the first put into motion."
I stood up "Hah, it brings back old memories, from more than just the original part of me. Feels weird and nostalgic, I wonder the future will bring."

Author's note: I love the idea of kingdom-building novels and think the genre has a lot to offer, but I don't think many authors do them very well. Here is my attempt. The novel has a strong focus on politics and kingdom building, with occasional action and a bit of humor. Have fun. Cover was made by MrZombie Updates three times a week. His race would change around chapters 20-30. The story's pacing would depend on the arcs, but I'll try to keep it at the fast-mediums. This story WILL have a harem, although the romance won't start early, and it will be slow as building characters is necessary for romance.
