《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER XIV: KILL HER
Advertisement
When the doorbell rang, Mire was exiting the bathroom. “A visitor that late?” She thought and she approached the door, but she was so amazed to see Ha Ni at her door, very drunk and looking for trouble.
“Hello, idiot!” Ha Ni whizzed through her teeth, trying to provoke Mire. “Did you expect me?” and she entered the apartment right away, without paying attention to Mire who was trying to push her out. “I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving, stupid! Just let me alone, you fucking bitch!” and Ha Ni pushed Mire so hard, that the woman hit the door hard with her head and this drove her crazy and she threw herself on Ha Ni, grabbing the other’s hair.
Both women are mad and none of them wants to give up on the fight, that started as a simple argument, but now it increased in intensity, and from one slap to another slap, they started to pull the other’s hair so hard that strands of hair remain in their hands, but it doesn’t bother any of them and soon after they started to kick each other.
Even if she’s drunk or drugged, Ha Ni isn’t an easy opponent. She hates her rival and she wants her dead. It’s because of this she came here: to chase her and if she won’t leave, to kill her. She wants to settle this like an accident or suicide, but things turned bad and she started to feel even dizzier than before.
“What’s wrong with me?” Ha Ni mumbled when she felt that she was about to vomit. “I drank only a cocktail. It … it can’t be because of it.”
She stood up, touching her forehead with both palms and trying to focus. Mire also stood up and she stared at her rival. “Why are you here, Ha Ni? I told you to get lost, but you never listen to anybody. He’s mine. Mine, and I have no intention to share him with you.”
“Is he an object?” Ha Ni grinned in mockery. “He has the right to choose whoever he wants and he chose me. Because of this, he spends his nights in my arms.”
“His nights? He does with you that I don’t allow him to do to me and this is because you are a prostitute. Nothing more.”
“Is this what he told you? Ha-ha, you definitely are stupid. A man doesn't choose another one, no matter her profession, only because he wants it. He tries to find in the other’s arms what he misses home and as you are just one of many, I’ll get rid of you and he will be mine in the end because I’m tired of looking at you. It makes me sick. You are nothing else than a stupid cow, who tries to…”
“What did you say?” and Mire again grabbed Ha Ni’s hair, but a kick in her stomach made her stumble to her feet and crawl back, till she hit something and fell on the floor. And then she saw the bag with golf sticks … right next to her … and she noticed that Ha Ni turned with her back to her, looking for something. And Mire made the decision … she grabbed a stick and she hit … just once … and Ha Ni’s body fell to the floor.
***
Mire is still shuddering remembering the crime. She stays in her apartment, with a bag with her stuff in it, but she can’t leave this house. She dreamt about having a home for so long. It’s because of this she messed with Min SinJu and she entered his bed, but things turned bad and she’s now a suspect in a murder case. And she has to run and she must do it if she wants to live.

The phone rings and she answered it right away. “Leave that fucking apartment now,” she hears in the receiver SinJu’s voice and, without answering, she ran out of the apartment.
There's nobody in the hall and she breathes a sigh of relief. It was the last thing she needed, to face her neighbors who so many times complained about her. So, without waiting for the elevator, that was still don’t coming, Mire opened the lateral door and she started to descend the stairs and she did it in such a hurry that the heart in her chest beats so fast and she hates that feeling of being out of breath.
She’s finally out … she smells the fresh air of the night and, forcing with her bag, which has a wheel stuck on a small hole, Mire whizzed a “come on, motherfucker. No time to force with you,” but she became alert when she heard a motorbike approaching her. She raised her glance and she saw the motorbike stopping in front of her.
She’s again out of air. She wants to scream, but she lacks force, while she stares at the driver, who takes off his helmet and she could recognize in that man SinJu’s rival because she knows DooSan’s face: she had heard about how much SinJu hates that man, so many times that she memorized who he is, and everything that she should know about him, but what scared her the most was the fact that DooSan is a prosecutor and if he’s here it means he knows something about Ha Ni.
“Did somebody call a taxi?” she heard DooSan’s voice, but she didn’t wait to listen to the rest of his speech … she threw the bag and she ran away. Behind her is heard DooSan’s voice: “I’m too old for running!” and he’s after her, but when Mire tries to turn left, she’s grabbed by Yoon Suk, who puts her to the ground and, reading her the Miranda Warning, he handcuffs her.
Mire didn’t listen to anything he said. She stares at the bag and she understands that her chance to run is gone and now she’s forced to fight with what was coming.

PRESENT. PROSECUTION. INTERROGATION ROOM.
SolHi and DooSan are sitting face to face with Mire, who’s keeping silent, no matter what they are trying to do to make her talk.
“Call for an office lawyer,” DooSan ordered SolHi when Mire asked for somebody to represent her, but his ears suddenly echoed when Mire yelled at him “Who the hell do you think I am, motherfucker? An office lawyer? Call me my lawyer!”
“Your lawyer?! And who must this be? One hired by Min SinJu?”
“I’m not talking without my lawyer. I know my rights.”
“Then you will spend some time in jail, sweety, because I’m sure that your “lover” won’t move a finger to take you out of here, and do you know why? Because it is convenient for him: if you go to jail, he’s out of charge, and he can live while you waste your youth with real criminals.”
SolHi stands up first and goes toward the door. DooSan continues sitting for a while, but when he sees that Mire is not talking, he also leaves the room.
Being alone, Mire inhales a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but she feels that something goes wrong. She called SinJu when they brought her here, but he didn’t answer and the second time when the officer called, that number wasn’t available anymore.
“What’s going on?” Mire mumbled and she scratched her face with her long nails. She does this every time she’s nervous and at that moment she was really anxious.

“Do you think she will talk soon?” Yoon Suk asked the others, while they were looking at Mire through the monitor.
“I doubt it,” Yu answered. “We all know what Min SinJu is capable of and if she knows him well, she will keep silent, even if it means going to jail.”
“We all saw what he is capable of. Last night, when he was about to kill SolHi, by drugging her. He wasn’t too kind to say” and Kan left the room, followed by Yu and Yoon Suk.
DooSan and SolHi continued in place, both with their arms crossed on the chest and staring in the distance, and they weren't thinking the same thing, but none of them dared to talk about his thoughts.
“I once lived such a nice treat,” SolHi finally answers. “I felt it on my skin. I know what it means to be closed in that room and to not know the answer to the questions they give to you. And this hurts like hell because there is Hell, gentleman. There is Hell.”
SolHi also leaves the room. DooSan stares a few seconds at the closed door, behind SolHi. Then, he sat down on a chair and approached Mire’s face on the monitor and he was surprised to see tears in her eyes and blood on her face because she scratched her cheeks till the blood.
“Nobody told you to trust Min SinJu,” DooSan whispered and he also doesn’t know why he feels sorrow for this girl. He’s aware that she had something to do with the victim’s death, but he can’t prove it if she doesn’t confess.
***
When DooSan finally exited the Monitors room, he noticed SolHi and the others, gathered in a place, not too far from the room after hesitating a little bit, he finally approached them and she heard SolHi saying something that caught his attention.
“Sombe, did Min SinJu say something new about Li Ha Ni when he came here with the lawyer?”
“About Ha Ni, no, but he said something about Park Mire. He said that he met her in her apartment about 10 o’clock, they had some fun, and that he left her alone, about one hour later.”
“He’s fast!” DooSan whispered ironically. “What?” he said again when he noticed the others' piercing glance.
“How did you know that SinJu is fast? Did you…”
“Don’t even dare, SolHi to mention again something about me and my love for …” and DooSan stared in her eyes, but she didn’t avoid his glance this time.
SolHi takes the phone from Kan’s hand and turning on a video, she shows DooSan a fragment of a shooting that Mire and SinJu took in her apartment: a passionate kiss and a part of what came later. “I hope you have now lost your interest in men,” she joked, but she didn’t allow DooSan to yell at her: she threw the phone toward Kan and whizzed at DooSan a “follow me, partner! We need to check something” and she left.
DooSan deeply inhaled the air, trying to calm down, while the others' glances were piercing him, waiting for a reaction.
“No more words about this or I swear I’ll kill you,” DooSan whispered, and, grabbing Kan’s phone, he followed SolHi.
Behind him, everybody started to laugh.
“It will be hot,” Yu mumbled, and followed by the others, they entered the office.
***
Entering SinJu’s club, SolHi and DooSan aren't well received by the guests, who are still there, even if it’s not yet night.
A few of the rockers, with a killing glance, started to walk toward them, while they were advancing through the guests, looking for SinJu.
Looking past his shoulder and noticing the others following them, DooSan whispers to SolHi. “From what I see, last night you became a legend here.”
“What do you…” but SolHi also notices the others and she smiles. “Well, I love to be remembered. There he is” and she moves in front, leaving DooSan a little bit confused.
“Was it a praise or a confession?” but he decided to leave this thought for later, when he will have time for this and he approaches the others, right at the moment, when SolHi passes in front of SinJu’s guests, who were sitting at the same table with him, and she sat down right between them, facing SinJu.
“Hello, friend!” she said in mockery, staring at SinJu, who was visibly unpleasant with their visit.
“Again here!” SinJu mumbled.
“Yes. We love to visit you,” DooSan’s voice was heard behind him and SinJu right away made a grimace.
Seeing this, his guests left the table and DooSan sat down next to SolHi and he tapped on the table with his fingers, trying to make SinJu get angry.
“Why are you here this time, detective Ian? I remember that I told you last night not to return without an order.”
“I’m here for another cocktail,” SolHi said and she threw in front of SinJu a small package with white dust, taking DooSan by surprise, who stared at her with his eyes practically out of orbit.
“Have you lost your mind?” he hissed in her ear, but SolHi just smiled and, pushing a little bit closer from SinJu the package, she whispered. “Do me a favor, Min SinJu. Bring me another one like yesterday night. I’m so anxious to try it one more time.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” he said and thirstily drank from his beverage.
“You don’t know, you say. Well, I have something to refresh your memory” and SolHi puts in front of him a paper with blood laboratory results. “They say I was “funny” last night, but from what I remember the only drink I had was the cocktail you gave to me.”
“Are you sure, detective? From what I remember I didn’t offer you anything last night. If you took “something” to get courage, it wasn’t definitely here.”
“You have some blood in your veins, mister Min. You served me a “fake” drink without even blinking and now you say that I did not take it here. Interesting. Should we ask for a visit from the Anti-drug team?”
“It will be an idea. I’m sure they will “relish” such beverages. Am I right, Min SinJu?”
“As I said, you are trying to accuse not the right guy. So, if you have nothing to say, please, get lost from here.”
“Not so fast, mister Min. Even if I can’t prove the fact that you drugged me, I can prove that you killed Li Ha Ni.”
SinJu started to laugh, but it wasn’t his normal laughter. He was playing and he hates doing this, but this time he is forced to do it because in front of him are two Pitbull that won’t give up on the idea of sending him to jail.
“And, how do you intend to do this?” SinJu said and he served himself another drink.
“What about a witness that saw you bringing the box in front of Ha Ni’s apartment?” DooSan said and this time, the one taken by surprise had been SolHi, but she preferred not to intervene in this.
SinJu stares at SolHi’s hands which are slowly shaking and this was a sign that Han DooSan wasn't bluffing. “They have something on me,” SinJu thought and, while drinking, he remembered that a night before, when he left the box with Ha Ni’s body in front of her apartment, he noticed the neighbor’s door half-opened, but when he wanted to approach it, the door was already closed. “Then, it was that bitch,” he thought again and, taking the mobile phone from his pocket, he wrote only two words: “kill her” and then he continued to relish his drink.
***
DooSan is driving in silence. He disliked how the visit at Min SinJu had passed and that they got nothing against him.
“He’s like a chameleon,” SolHi finally said and she threw the laboratory results on her lap. “I can’t believe that we have nothing against him. Even if we know that he was there that night.”
“Don’t rush! He will fall soon! He must be!”
“Yeah? When? When will another victim be sent to someone in a gift box?”
“And what do you want from me? I can’t force him to confess. You know well that if we force him, it won’t be accepted in a trial.”
“And now you are trying to argue with me?”
“You are the one who started it. And what the fuck did you think when you drank that drink, he offered you? If it had been “stronger” you would have been dead by now.”
“And isn’t this what you want? To see me dead?”
“I want you in jail. Not dead. And that’s different.”
“It means the same to me: getting rid of her is the best.”
“You deserved it, ok?”
“As you! Don’t complain of being stupid!”
“A stupid? Now I am stupid and not a turkey or mopsic. What a big jump.”
SolHi stared at him for a few seconds … she had a bad desire to punch his face, but she knew that it wasn’t the proper time, with him behind the wheel and she just answered the phone when it rang. “Tell me, Yoon Suk!”
Yoon Suk practically yelled at the receiver. “They got Yun Si Yoon. We are after them. Come to the bridge over the River Han. They are on your way!”
“Damn!” SolHi yelled and taking the hooter, she put it on the car’s roof, yelling at DooSan to press the gas pedal.
***
SolHi is scared … she’s running out of the car and moving toward the bridge, where a black van is stopped at its entrance. They see how two masked men take Si Yoon out of the van and run with her toward the bridge.
“They will throw her in the water!” DooSan yelled toward the policemen that are not far from the bridge, but they didn’t manage to get there on time: Si Yoon is thrown in the water, with her hands and legs caught with tape and she’s unconscious.

World Master
Hey! I once lived on your world back in 2056. But that was a long time ago and there’s probably no records of my existence. Or, maybe, I haven’t even been born yet… …I’m still figuring out of the timelines correspond. Anyways, I was or will be, or whatever you want to call it (maybe I am?), John Pitcher, a resident at St. Jude’s Hospital for the Mentally Ill. I was a computer programmer and my parents had me admitted there because I was convinced that I had been contacted by Set, the Egyptian god of chaos, about creating a world. Well, apparently, I’m something akin to the great times a hundred grandson of over 10 000 gods, and they didn’t want me to live an ordinary, dull life (well, except for the god of normalcy, but he doesn’t count). Set gave me three years to prepare myself. This begins right at the end of those three years. [participant in the NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] I originally had this as part of the prologue, then I realized that it made a better synopsis. Please note: this might seem a bit clunky because I haven't done a lot of writing, and this is supposed to be a kind of prequel to another story that I plan on doing in the future. I will not be fully explaining everything but instead will be explaining things in that other story. This is mainly to help fill in the lore of the world so that people will have at least a basic idea of how things function. Regardless of that, that story won't be written for at least another year, so deal with it. Note: I am using ideas from several different authors in order to make sure that this can be a proper story. You may or may not recognize where I got them. I am not writing a Fanfiction and do not claim these as my own. I will add to a list of titles below as I find myself using those ideas. World Keeper (obviously) The Wandering Inn The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound (not yet, but eventually) A bunch of others that I haven't thought of yet
