《Heretic Immortal》Chapter 13: Deviation

“Can you wait?”
[What? Why are you still waiting? Your answers and riches are just a formality away.]
“Aaa this– grandpa has said to me that if someone offers you things that sound too good, you should wait and-- wait and see no investigate, right I need to investigate too–too–”
[What to investigate? Have you ever met a more honest person like me.]
“I still haven’t seen your face.”
[That--]
[Ahahahahah. It seems that even you don’t have much success here, but at least he is not so dumb to trust anyone at first glance, so I say, ENOUGH WITH THIS BULSHIT, kid, you don’t need to believe everything this idiot is saying. But it is true that we have saved you, to be more precise, you died, well if I Am to be accurate, we killed you and then we saved you, after all, if all we needed is a mortal, we could get anyone, what I needed is someone willing to live despite dying, and you have been perfect, the so-called fate is nothing more than me selecting you by a random chance, so do not think you are anything special in that, the only special thing is what I did, and I research, not the idiot. So now greet me, my first ever exper-- DISCIPLE. CAUSE WHATEVER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, YOU ARE STUCK WITH ME AND THE IDIOT, AND YOUR LIFE IS SEALED ANYWAY, SO I SAY ONE MORE TIME THERE IS NO ESCAPE NOW WHAT IS DONE IS DONE, YOU WHO HAS INHERIT THE Perfect Cultivation Physic.]
As the stern voice began to speak, the sound of his voice increased to the point that little Levis' ears, brain and body trembled. With his hands over his ears, he kneeled as the intensity of the voice that it was causing pain, only for the last three words to be spoken in a mellower tone that calmed him in an instant as the loud voice from before was nothing more than an illusion.
“Perfect Cultivation Physic”
[Yes, and no.]
“What? What do you mean?”
[Good question, now stay as I'll explain.]
As little, Levis sat down to listen, so as not to make the voice shout again. The voice in his head began another torrent of words that he was still having trouble understanding as many words were foreign to him.
[Cultivation, cultivation is about becoming the best version of yourself, a faster, stronger and more intelligent version of yourself. That it is, and well, this is what all living things want to achieve. Mortals don't look up to gods. They aspire to become like them. Cultivation is about becoming the idol in your head, but don’t get it twisted, reality and expectations will be very different, you have to be ready to fail and try again. If you fail once and don’t get up, then you indeed are a failure. Did I say perfect cultivation physic? Well, I didn't really name it, as I don't really like to waste time, but this should say a lot about what it is about. But in essence, your body had become what I have theorized it would be at the stages higher than my true self. This is the best starting point every living being would want to have. As for you, bottleneck and cultivation stages don’t exist in the normal form that everyone has, all you need to do is to absorb energy constantly, and you’ll become more and more powerful. After all, if cultivation is all about getting more power, why should there be bottlenecks? Get more and more energy and brute force your way through everything in an intelligent way, that is. It may sound dumb just accumulating energy, but in all the complicated reasoning and research, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that the stupid and idiotic way may be the right one--. Hmmm, you get it? Of Course not. No need to think too much about it as you have yet to enter the cultivation world, the concept of stages and ranks is better to leave to others as I want you to immediately start cultivating, using my method and prove once and for all I’m better than the Star bastard.]

“Cultivation? How do I do that?”
As the unending torrent of words were echoing in little Levis's head, a dizzy and confused look appeared as he had no idea of what the voice was really talking about.
[How do you cultivate? Didn't you say it felt good when you breathe? That's cultivation.]
“Breathing?”
[Yes, although in a bad and wrong manner. Up till now, you have slept three times as your body was still adjusting, but it seems that your consciousness had fused with your body. Now, all it misses is the energy from your breathing. The energy has not fused with your body and consciousness.]
But as the clearing of his doubt could be seen by little Levis, more confusion appears at the mention of body, consciousness and energy.
“Body, consciousness, energy? What are those?”
[Yes, I need to give you a view of what cultivation entails. But basically, you should know that it is divided into three main parts that can be said to be even weirder when taking into account the main species. Intelligent humanoids. Animals and their variety of types that lack in the consciousness, but make up with their body and the plant life that is a more weird kind of life form.]
As little Levis was expecting to find a normal explanation, the voice began to make a detour once again, making him wonder if the voice could really keep a straight argument.
[You're deviating. The kid is lost again. Are you sure you're better than me at explaining things?]
[You are even asking? But it is true I deviate a bit. Ahhhamm, So as I was saying, body, consciousness and energy, simple version. You need a body to have a mind, which is logical, and you need your consciousness to set your body to steal the energy from your surroundings and to form what cultivators call “dantian”.]
“Dantian?”
As little Levis's face was brightening, as he was finally starting to understand, his face twitched at the word “Dantian”, as he had lost it and was starting to feel like the voice was one of those people that were promising good things. Still, they were always adding something new to confuse, just as his grandpa had told him when he was young.
[The dantian is the form that the energy will take as you’ll amass more and more of said energy if you were an ordinary cultivator, a dantian would form under your hearth, with tendrils following your arteries and veins, enhancing your body, to grow an even stronger consciousness and gather more energy, this is the equilibrium that cultivators need to follow in order to advance, but bottlenecks and mental instability's or a wounded body can cripple or stop one from advancing or worse cultivation as a whole and degrading from the peak stage and rank, that's why I research my whole life for the perfect cultivation technique and so comes your body, a fusion between all three, well only body and mind as you still have not gathered energy at all, so you still haven't started to understand the wondrous of my life research.]

“So, what you're saying is that I need to breathe– to get energy and form a dantian?”
[No! Because your whole body is a dantian and a mind, all you have to do is to start absorbing energy and begin the cycle of enhancing your being. Aaahhhh, this is really taking a lot. Ok, focus, focus on your body with your consciousness.]
[Feel it, don't overthink, if you listen to this smart ass you’ll probably never arrive, as he forgets easily, that not everybody can understand things as he does. So feel it as an instinct, as though you're on a stroll.]
As the more lenient and easy-going voice interfered and gave a more primal approach, little Levis focused on his body while closing his eyes, as he could hear the heartbeat, his flowing blood from the heart, out and in, as an overview of information on his body manifested in his mind as though he was an ethereal cloud-like existence made by billions and billions of pieces, in the shape of his body, while superintending over every cell that formed his body.
“This, what is this?”
As his first introspective inspection finished, drops of sweat fell on his forehead as a stunned and shocked expression was stuck on him.
[Hahahah, impressive, right kid. Not even emperors can do such an inspection of their body like you, not to mention you are still technically a mortal, well, a brand new type of mortal. Hahaha, now who can say I was wrong? Huuu, who can say? I don't remember. Anyway, how do you feel?]
"Blaargh''
Just as the high-spirited stern voice was asking the boy for some feedback, the sound of vomit could be heard as little Levis was white pale while puking whatever was left in his empty stomach.
“Like I just pulled my insides out.”
[Well, the first try is always going to be challenging, so don’t mind.]
[You are saying it like it is no big deal when the boy looks like he could pass out at any time. Aaaand there he goes.]
[What? Kid! Hey kid, hold on.]
“Budump”
[Kid, our epic adventure sure is going south from the very beginnin—]
But, just as the second voice was speaking, the wobbly little Levis fell on his back and lost consciousness as the experience of his introspection had been too much to bear for his immature mind.

The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
