《Rise To The Absolute Zenith》The Awaited Encounter

"I-I'm s-sorry my L-Lord but...the c-city seems t-to be under a-attack...!" The bald man with this city's city guard armor said with cold sweat dripping down his spine.
THRUM!!
"How many?!" The city lord asked in a calm tone, shocking the city guard.
"O-One..."
Boom!
Latin dashed toward the bald man and punched him in the face, sending him impacting the walls of the room.
"Do we look like a joke to you?! If wastes such as yourself can't even kill one person, what do we even have you here for?" With a face filled with scorn and disapproval, Latin berated the bald man who had blood escape his lips from the attack he just received.
"Latin, go deal with this intruder. I am busy!" Even though he was angered, the city lord ordered Latin with a calm tone, and as the city lord's advisor, Latin obediently followed his lord's command.
.
.
.
"P-Please...spare my child...please..."
With tears and snot across her face, the woman begged Blade who held her infant child in his hand. Surrounding them were tens of dead bodies that littered the night streets of this city.
Her right hand was missing, probably the hand that still had blood spurting out a few meters away, and even though it pained her, she was too taken up on the safety of her baby as she begged Blade to at the very least spare her only child boy.
Looking at the infant in his hand that was probably not even a couple of months old, Blade suddenly remembered the words of the system and also his decision. A smile formed on his face as a tear left his right eye as he then said to the female begging on the ground.
"I...I am sorry but, you humans must die..." Thereafter, his right hand gripped the baby's forehead as he squeezed down with all his strength...!
Even though he had a calm mind, the feeling of killing a human not even a few months old still plagued his mind. Unlike Sara who tortured him, this child did nothing to him at all, yet he killed it because of his selfishness for Immortality.
AHHHHH-
As the woman was in the middle of the peak of her despair, Blade stomped his foot on her head, squashing it and causing blood and guts to splatter in his surroundings and on his naked body.

"I think I need some clothes." Blade mumbled as he then began searching his surroundings, and the dead bodies present. While picking some clothes, Blade's main focus was on the floating screen that asked him if he wanted to upgrade his system once more.
There were slightly more than one hundred people residing in this city, and of that amount, at least eighty were normal humans who were killed by Blade, and out of the twenty cultivators, nine were dead in Blade's hands and another five were already dead. Of course, that five were the ones he encountered in the forest.
"To reach level 4, I need 2,500 experience points. I already had 430 and after killing 80 normal humans who gave me 30 experience points each, I acquired 2,830 experience points.
Then nine low-level body cultivators gave me another 450 experience points. All in all, I have hmm...3,280. Ahh, isn't it good to do maths once in a while?" With a calm smile on his face, Blade calculated how he ended up with the amount he did.
"Close the interface, I'll upgrade the system after I deal with everyone in this city." With clothes adorned on his body, and walking toward the city lord's residence, Blade ordered his system.
Since he knew that Latin, his wife, and the city lord were probably there, Blade decided that it was time to wipe this city clean of its disgusting plague.
"To think you would become this strong and daring in a matter of one month. A monster like you needs to be killed. A son of the devil... " With wrathfulness clear from the tone in which he spoke, Latin mumbled the last part of his sentence.
While walking through the street filled with dead bodies and puddles of blood, the voice of Latin entered Blade's ears.
"Son of the devil...Haha...I don't mind such a title. Maybe the devil isn't as bad as what humans make him out to be." The voice of Blade entered Latin's ears as he grew surprised by Blade's acute hearing. The contents of Blade's reply angered him even more since it seemed that the brat was proud of such a title.
Humph!!
"Only a monster would be proud of being the devil's son. A monster that will under no circumstance, escape my grasp alive today...!" While exiting the city lord's gate entrance, and calmly approaching Blade who walked through the bloody streets, Latin firmly declared his will to exterminate Blade.

Tsk!
Blade clicked his tongue in annoyance and disapproval.
"What I've learned is that the concept of the devil being evil is simply something humans have made up.
Why must the devil be labeled as the true evil?
Every time humans do something bad, blame the devil. You do something good, thank god.
You humans may say something is wrong, yet you do the said thing. How can hypocrites like you decide what is right and wrong, what is good or evil...?! Humans have no right to call another a devil or a monster, you people are the true monsters.
You use the name of the devil so you can justify why you kill. Corrupting the world, and then blaming it on the devil. Such a thing is something only you people can do."
As both Latin and Blade approached each other, they both expressed their opinion on each other, and Blade also expressed his opinion on humans in general.
"Haha, you little monster. Your worldview is twisted soo much that you now sound like a crazy lunatic. It seems only death can save you...but I'm sorry to be the one to say, your inevitable death would be slow and agonizing...!"
Having enough of the pointless exchange of words, with a visibly more threatening tone, Latin expressed his desire to slowly end Blade's life.
Seeing and hearing his hostility, Blade only smirked coldly as his eyes flashed with ruthlessness. He was finally about to kill the people who had previously caused him soo much suffering and to say he wasn't excited, would be the lie of the century.
"Unlike you humans, I have accepted the fact that I am selfish and have many faults with no chance of forgiveness nor any redemption. Yet, I do not sort after this so-called redemption.
I have become true to my inner self, and because of this, my strength is now something you could never hope to fight against. Remember Latin, the monster that kills you is the monster that your family created."
Blade said. Immediately after, Blade's leg muscles tightened as he jumped toward Latin who was a few meters away from him.
Seeing Blade's figure almost becoming a blur to his eyes, Latin's expression instantly turned serious. To the eyes of a normal human, Latin became a blur as he shot toward the incoming Blade.
BAM!
Both their fists met, and the collision between their fists shockingly caused a strong shockwave that affected their surroundings was created. Surprisingly, especially for Latin, he now found himself flying back through the air.
KA-BOOM-!
Latin crashed into the city lord's mansion gates. Because of the powerful force with which he approached the gates, the black-colored gates were destroyed as Latin's body was engulfed in the remains of said gate.
"Huh?!"
With his right hand outstretched, and still, in his fighting stance, Blade muttered out in alarm with expressions of shock and disbelief clear on his face. When processing the fact that Latin's body just flew multiple meters back and crashed into a fairly big gate, Blade couldn't help but mutter in shock.
"Was he soo weak...!?" Blade uttered while his eyes brightened. But, immediately after, Blade's expression froze as he once more regained a fighting stance. In front of him, and approaching him with a calm aura was Latin, who gripped a pair of obsidian daggers.
Blade, unsure if it was because he spent many days in the wild, was able to sense an inexplicable and deathly aura that originated from the daggers in Latin's palms. The evil-looking smirk plastered on Latin's face didn't help in easing the uncomfortable feeling gripping Blade's chest.
"It seems you have grown strong...!" Latin stated.
Swoosh!
Right after, Latin shot toward Blade who was stationary and in a battle stance a dozen meters away from him. With his daggers in hand, Lati prepared to finish Blade in no time...!
Latin's dagger located in his right hand appeared in front of Blade's left eye. It was so sudden that Blade was left speechless as he relied purely on instinct to evade the attack!

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
