Chapter 6: Magic
I was now going together with Shera and Reimi on the trails to the border of Attenta Kingdom, our journey didn't have any troubles at all.
During traveling, I saw Reimi was quite strange, she was always going close to me beside Shera but now she suddenly stayed away from me a bit for some reason.
"Hey, Shera! How far can we go until we get to the Attenta Kingdom?"
"Oh! Sir Rigen, please be patient, we have changed our direction so we may get to Ailia, the border town of Attenta Kingdom sooner, about 12 days I think." - Shera replied to me
I kept moving with the girls when I heard Shera's reply, I didn't think our rations would be enough to be used in about 2 weeks. Maybe we must hunt some animals while on the way, Shera had recommended that too so maybe we would operate the animal hunt soon.
After that, I remembered something that I didn't remember since the first time I met these two girls. The first time when I met Reimi exactly, for some reason she could hear Advisor talk.
"Advisor, why the first time I met these girls, Reimi could hear you talk to me?"
"Special Conversation only works when you have airpods with you. The first time you turned me on but didn't turn on Special Conversation so that's why Reimi heard me." - Advisor explained to me, then why did you tell me to wear the airpods?
"But why did you tell me to input the airpods?"
"I only do it as the programs told me to, not my fault, don't blame me, blame yourself when you didn't check."
"Forget it, John! I have scanned some creatures, about 10 of them. Don't know if they are dangerous or not, they are away from us by about 300 meters (328 yards) forward the trail." - Advisor warned me
"I've already classified the creatures in three-dot colors: Red as danger creatures or unknown, blue as animals and green as humans."
"I classified the creatures by hearing the sounds that came from them by the way they walk and their mouth sounds. I can only do that for the classification, no way else left, now alert the girl, John!"
Then Advisor's screen turned into the map of the area of the trail we were going to, there were about 10 red dots appeared on the screen.
They were just away from us 295 meters (322,6 yards), they were heading toward the trail we were going on but at a very slow speed.
"Reimi, Shera, the trail forward you is appearing about 10 creatures, I don't know if they are dangerous or not but they are heading this way."
"How did you know that, Sir Rigen?" - Shera looked surprised at what I said, she also looked around to verify my word
"I used detection magic!" - I lied to the girls, again
"Detection magic? That thing also exists?" - Reimi seemed to suspect me but she later held Shera's hand as if wanted to grab her to run away or hide
"We don't have time to say or argue about that, just hide, let's lie down on the grass."
Shera and Reimi hesitated a little bit, Reimi didn't believe me at all but Shera looked to have a bit of trust in me. Later Shera accepted to hide on the grass after persuading Reimi to hide while hearing my command.
A few minutes passed, we were now lying on the grass and saw exactly 10 creatures slowly appear on the trail as Advisor warned me before, they looked huge, like gorillas to me.

I slowly realized the creatures' appearances looked like Orcs from fantasy fiction, how the hell it could happen?
Wait? Did I travel to the past? Or this is another world? I need an answer!
No! No! Maybe I should calm a bit down, maybe I must ask the girls after this, hope they won't suspect me.
About Reimi and Shera, they were all terrified while looking at those creatures, they went silent, me either. But when I was lying on the grass, Shera suddenly crawled toward me and held me as if she wanted to have someone for her to hug to calm her nervousness.
What the hell was wrong with you? I wanted to ask Shera that but I went silent to let those creatures go away.
Anyway, being hugged by a girl was not so bad, Shera's boobs looked to be half medium-sized. Her boobs were now pressing behind my back, they were soft so they made me feel a bit satisfied, good job, Shera!
We were now lying on the grass, waiting for those creatures to go past the trails, Reimi also joined with Shera but not to hug me but to pull Shera away.
But Shera kept waving her hand to Reimi as if she rejected to stop holding me so Reimi later obeyed her's master command though her face seemed to have a bit of regret.
Man! This is just like a mission named All Ghillied Up from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Maybe I will play that game when I got home, though I don't know if I can go home or not.
After those creatures have gone far from us for very far, I think! We slowly got up from the grass. I felt odd, my eyes must have tricked me but about Shera and Reimi, they were still terrified.
"Sir Rigen! I owe you my life this one, again!" - Reimi cried while holding my hands
"Me too, Sir Rigen! If you didn't warn us, we would have been torn apart by those Orcs." - Shera thanked me with a bow, I could feel the deep words to thank me in her voice, she was quite respected me
"You said those creatures were Orcs?"
"Yes, Sir Rigen! Didn't your homeland have Orcs?" - Shera asked me with a little confused
"No! My homeland still has Orcs, but they look smaller than those before." - I lied to these girls, again!
"Forget it, Sir Rigen! Did you see any more of them forward the trails?" - Reimi asked me in panic, she wanted to grab Shera to run away for safety
"No, I only saw 10 of them."
"If Orcs appeared here then there must be a cave here somewhere which has an Orc's nest, it's very dangerous!"
"Pri, Lady Shera! We have to hurry now! It's very dangerous if we keep staying here! Sir Rigen, if you see any more of them on the trail, warn us." - Reimi was more panicked than before, she later ran away while holding Shera and left me behind
I was a bit mad when Reimi did that but I thought wider and saw she was doing right, cannot blame her.
Reimi chose to put her master's life priority and forgot about herself, how could she care about me when I was a stranger who just met them in 2 days?
Then we ran so fast because Reimi ran very fast! She wanted to keep Shera out of the danger so she ran with all of her strength until we got out of the trail.

We forgot the tired also forgot the time has passed during the running and soon realized the sky has gone dark when we ran away from the trail.
Shera had been very mad and scolded Reimi very heavily because she didn't grab me to run with her master but left me behind.
She later ordered Reimi to apologize to me, Reimi had apologized but I told Shera not to scold her servant like that but Shera kept insisting to me that my life was as important as her life.
Didn't know what to say, maybe Shera has a bit problem with her head, or she honestly cared about me so she put me in the same position to be well protected as her.
During the traveling, I didn't see anything unusual except the creatures those girls called "Orcs", which looked so much like a fantasy now.
I must verify did I travel to the past or if I had traveled to another world or not, let's ask Advisor.
"Advisor, did you know about the creatures we saw on the trail, and also did I go to the past or another world? Answer me a bit!"
"Negative, John! I don't have any data about those creatures in my data, and stop asking what is out of my data, just ask the girls."
"I'm maybe a new kind of AI which is very revolutionary in the future but I cannot explain to you as well as the girls because they know more than me, just ask them instead."
"Wow, you just have bragged to me about your abilities, at least you can answer one of my questions, Advisor."
"Well, there is a very good answer that I can answer to you, I don't know, that's my answer."
"Just kidding, I cannot sure if you got back to the past or another world yet. You must ask the girls, they are the only intel here, John." - Great, Advisor! I just wanted to beat the shit out of the one who invented you right now!
After that long run, we set up a camp near a river in this forest, the sky was now dark but we haven't set up a campfire yet so I was now with Shera setting up a small campfire.
During the time we set up the camp, Reimi said to us that she would patrol around the forest and also maybe would go on hunting animals if she could.
Reimi has finally returned from the patrol, she said there is no danger here. She also shooked her head which meant she didn't hunt animals successfully or there were no animals around here.
Maybe Reimi's hunting skills were so sucked or she truly didn't find animals for real.
I later looked at the campfire and was about to set the fire but Shera got there before me. She raises her right hand to the campfire which doesn't have a fire on it and spoke the word "Fire", 3 seconds later, the campfire has been set up a fire.
"What the hell?"
Shera and Reimi looked at me, and seemed confused at what I said, did my eyes just have tricked me?
"In your homeland, your people didn't use magics like this, Sir Rigen?" - Shera asked me with confusion
Magic? Did I just get into another world? No way! But from what I saw, I cannot deny it anymore. I have seen a lot of fiction, and novels about this category: YU-NO, Gate, Isekai stuff...
I always wanted to live in another world, that was my dream but now I have to think back about it, maybe I want to go home now for some reason.
But how can I get back to my world? I have to live and die here, alone? I must find a way to lie to the girls.
"Uh! In my homeland, my people didn't use magics by using words to cast spells."
"Really, Sir Rigen?" - Reimi talked to me with shock, she seemed to be a bit suspecting my words but then she stopped suspecting
"Impressive! In my place, only the high-ranking mages do not need to cast spells by using words, your homeland is very developed in magic, Sir Rigen!" - Shera was also impressed by my words, poor girls, being tricked by a man like me
"I also remembered a type of magic that you showed to us this early morning, you called it detection magic, right?" - Reimi asked me with excitement, did she...want to learn it?
"Can you teach me to do it?" - Shera asked me...I think you two should quit!
"Sorry! If you want to perform that magic, it requires you have a magic item with you, like the thing on my right hand."
"That's so?" - The girls were now disappointed at my answer
"But can you perform your magic for us instead? We want to see how it is." - Reimi asked me...what should I do now?
"But can you perform your magic for me to see first, Reimi?" - Must verify what I saw earlier to see if magic was real or not
"Of course! Reimi, do that for Sir Rigen!" - Shera ordered Reimi
"Yes, my Pri, I mean Lady Shera!"
Then Reimi went away from me for a few steps and raised her hand in the sky, keeping silence for a second.
"Fireball!" - Reimi spoke the word after staying silent for a second
A fire object came out of Reimi's hand and flew into the sky, slowly vanishing in the air when it reached high in the sky for a few seconds.
"The magic effect will disappear if it goes too far from its perimeter, Sir Rigen! I don't know if your magic has that limit or not." - Shera explained to me
Reimi later pointed her hand to a tree nearby and said the word "Wind Blade". A strong wind appeared and tore out a small tree log in half, the log that got torn out later fell to the ground.
"There are only 2 kinds of elements of magic I can use, and the Wind magic is my favorite, Sir Rigen!"
"There is a magic skill called the Massive Wind that I can cast without spelling the word but I will stop now to see your performance, Sir Rigen." - Reimi bowed to me and then walked back to Shera
"I can only use Fire magic and Water magic, what about you, Sir Rigen?" - Shera asked me...what I say to lie?
I was so confused, how could they do that? Trick? No! Even an experienced magician cannot do such a thing like that, I have finally believed that I got to another world.
Now, how can I lie to the girls? Ah, forget it!
"I'll try!" - I answered the girls
I later walked away from the girls for a few steps and raised my hand toward a tree nearby. I used all of my muscles and my thought to create an "Explosion" magic from what I saw from Konosuba...maybe I should stop illusion.
Of course! I did that without saying a word.
Nothing happened! The girls who were before very excited to see my performance were now confused.
Weird! Didn't the magics I saw from fantasy fiction could be used without using words to cast the spell by using the thought to create them?
Wait! How did these girls use magic? Did they use it by thinking about creating it in their heads? How did the magic work? Can it be explained by science?
"What's wrong, Sir Rigen?" - Shera and Reimi asked me in confusion...must lie to them
"I don't know why, sorry! Something weird happened to my body when I got here so I cannot use magic, hehe."
"Maybe I got some illness that makes me can't use magic when I got here, maybe I need a doctor to cure me." - I lied again
"What is a doctor, Sir Rigen?" - Shera asked me with a bit of curious
How did the middle ages people call a doctor? A physician? No, this world was set in fantasy so I must call the doctor...a healer?
"The doctor can be considered as the healer in your wo-, I mean in your homeland, Shera." - I was about to say the word "world", I was wondering how would the girls react if I said it
"Advisor! Know how to cast magic like Reimi?"
"Negative, John! I saw some sort of energy that came out of Reimi's hand when I scanned her temperature. The energy ran on her veins to heat her forearm and then spurted out the magic but I do not understand how it works!"
"Also, I'm not nanoms of Alan Corinth, you know? I can't copy and insert magic on your memory like it." - Advisor...useless has its limit but you don't!
"Maybe we can try it tomorrow, Sir Rigen! Some people have fewer magic powers in their bodies, you may be similar to them." - Shera talked to me
"Also, Sir Rigen! the magic powers can be only regained by eating and resting well."
"I'm scared that your diarrhea is still there, you also mentioned that you got an illness that makes you can't cast magic, it is very hard to cast magic with an illness body."
"Please sleep, Sir Rigen! It's already late, you must regain your health." - Shera suggested I sleep
To me, the way Shera cared about me to the teeth was a bit annoyed, but...she was very cute and also kind. But I could not trust Shera and Reimi so fast like that, must know them more before I put my trust in them.
We later went to sleep, Reimi would also do the night guard, she would change the shift to me in about 3 hours, hope she will be okay.
I have turned off Advisor and went to sleep, hoping that our group would get to Ailia soon.

The American Dream: An Alternate, Time-Travel Timeline
Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from the year 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill is set to begin. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation uphold its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improves from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you have some interest in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off in the beginning, I promise that the story improves quickly.
