《Kain, The Apocalypse Overlord》Chapter 8 | Information

At his mention, she finally felt his terrible scent.
Maria: Get in.
During their trip back home, she sensed there was something different about the young man, besides his messy, dirty and smelly appearance, he seemed to be... bulkier?
It was to the point of her falling to notice how empty the backpack, of his, was, in comparison to before he entered the school building just a few minutes ago.
Maria: Can you now tell me what happened in there for you to come out like that?
Kain: Only if you get down on your knees and beg to be my slave.
Maria: ….
Kain: ….
Maria: Never mind. If you don't want to tell me, then say it so.
Kain: I am not joking. If you really do that, I will be willing to tell you a lot of things that will help you feel your mind clear and lighter, with some even enlighten you on a numerous of things.
Maria: What are you talking about?
Kain: I told you before that you should give up on trying to send them to college.
Maria: Why do I have to listen to you?
Kain: I am only thinking the best for you.
Maria: I don't need your concern.
Kain: Ok. Let me tell you just this then. When you feel like listening to me, I will only accept with you at your knees.
Maria: Hmph
Kain: ….
Maria: ….
Kain: ….
Deadly silence filled the car as they emerged themselves in their own thoughts. Maria was trying to think of a way to continue on her endeavor without Kain's help, while Kain was simply feeling excitement bubbling inside of him at what had just happened.
If one were to ask him, he didn't care a single bit about the struggles Maria was experiencing at the moment. He knew, after looking at her profile, that the woman, although a goddess in looks, was as stubborn as an ox. Fuck, she had even ruined her relationship with her daughters in her pursuit to send them to college, to the point of not being the gentle touches and pushes from Kain, the relationship between mother and daughter of hers with Laura would crash like a plane after their talk.
A plan was beginning to form in his mind that was related to the little lamb, Laura.
Kain: "Laura would love to see and know about the dungeon, although I should prepare to protect her."
Reaching home, Maria went straight to her room and laid down on her king-size bed, immediately falling asleep since she was completely wasted physically and mentally. Kain took a shower before sitting on the couch, of the living room, and turned on the Tv, at a low sound.
He was wide awake since he had enough rest in the dungeon, with leaving the responsibility of protecting him, when he was sleeping there, to Nev.
Kain: "I think that there should be other dungeons. Now I need to figure out where they might be.... one of them might be at the cemetery. No. I am certain there is one over there, but it should be the last one to go."
The door of the house suddenly opened with a young woman stepping inside, it was no other than Amy.
Just when she was texting on her phone and going through the hallway, in the ground floor, she noticed a weak blur from the door leading to the living room.
Stopping and peering inside, she found it to be Kain sitting at the couch with only a towel wrapped around his waist.

It wasn't anything she hasn't seen before, except for the part of the numerous scars that riddled his body.
She wasn't completely clueless to not notice the abuse Kain experienced every day, especially since his bullies at school made sure to make it public while his father.... did what he wanted without any remorse. It was a mystery how things continued on like they were, until one looked at the background of certain people.
Shaking her head from side to side, she went upstairs. It wasn't like she could do anything, but all of this powerlessness and sight of Kain' scarred body only served to further her hate for her mother, because, unlike her, had the potential and means to change his situation.
Meanwhile, Kain knew nothing of what had just happened as he continued thinking of the possible places that could contain the Hidden Locations throughout the island.
Kain: "Okay. Since they must be in important locations, then that makes it... five in total, except for the one at the school. The cemetery, the beach, the forest, the mount and the sewers."
Using the information from the memories, of the previous host of his body, he was able to discern his situation far better than before. In the end, one wouldn't be able to live without basic knowledge. Where he was? The name of the city he was in? Locals?
Such questions needed answers. Immediate answers.
He was currently in an isolated island named Mitera, that was located in the middle of the ocean. Occupying the center-south of it was the city, Milory, with the port and beach were located to the south. The rest of the island was filled with a lush deep forest, while the top of a mount stood out from the west.
Kain: "Even if I am right, there is nothing that I can do at the moment. Using the school' one as an example, then any of those would be a certainty that death is the most accurate result."
Leaning his head back on the couch, he couldn't help but rub his eyes at the feeling of powerlessness he was having at the moment.
Kain: "So many weaknesses overall.... the only one doable should be the one at the forest, that is if I can even find where it is.... maybe I should consider catching another rattata...no!"
Straightening himself on the couch a strange glint flashed in his eyes.
Kain: "The next one will be that strange dog!"
Firming his mind on that, he picked up his phone, that was right beside him on the couch, and began searching by using the traits of that fiery dog.
Kain: Growlithe?
Finally discovering something he started scrolling through a page regarding a pokémon called growlithe.
A smile emerged on his face after reading everything on the page.
Finishing reading all of it, he also searched for information regarding rattata, the strange cat with the golden coin, and the strange bottle he had gained from the boss.
Kain: Health recovery?
A wicked idea emerged in his mind when he read the information on the strange bottle. To start, it was called Potion and it had the function of recovering health by 20 points.
He didn't know how the value of '20' transited to reality, but something that he was certain was that it recovered health.
Kain: Just found how to try it and keep Laura safe.
He immediately discarded the idea of using it on himself, he knew that the injuries his body sustained were far more serious than what a simple potion could deal with.

Turning off the Tv, he put some clothes on and grabbed his backpack, before he walked out of the house.
[ 10~15 Minutes Later ]
Standing in front of the school gates he smirked a little, before making his way towards the principal office. It was sure to be a strange sight of a student going to school in the middle of the night. It was even weirder considering it was the second time that night.
Stepping inside the principal office and coming face to face with the golden question mark. Reaching out with his right hand, a panel emerged from it.

Kain: Perfect.
He had this suspicion in mind when he was going through the dungeon earlier on. Were they one-time use or did they reset? Fortunately, it seemed to be the later on.
Now it was a matter of exploring this source of treasures as much as possible, and with that in mind he willed into the dungeon once more at level 1.
Kain: "This is it. This complete silence and dread." Nev.
Summoning his rattata from it's pokeball, that was in one of his jacket' pockets.
Nev looked around for a short while, before bursting into a run and climbing to sit on top of it's owner' right shoulder.
Kain: Let's do this.
[ Around 1 hour later ]
Growing accustomed to the dungeon design and the school layout, he was able to make quick work of it. Even then he took his sweet time clearing it, by leaving most of the battles up to Nev, who was a complete monster with it's high level and use of moves.
The human and rodent were now standing in the rooftop gazing at the growlithe blazing in flames.
Kain: "Here we go." Nev. Quick Attack.
Removing his hands from his black shorts' pockets, he started running towards the fiery creature, that was beginning to prepare to spew out flames towards him, while Nev swiftly ran to the side and began building momentum in its run.
whoosh
Already expecting it and timing it greatly, Kain dodged the incoming flames by stepping to the side before continuing in his rush.
bump
Just as it was about to attack Kain again, with its flames, something fast slammed against it sending it crashing through the rooftop. It was no other than Nev using Quick Attack.
Kain immediately accelerated and closed the distance between the two of them while punching the jaw of the fiery creature, in the motion of an uppercut.
bang
grrrr
The growlithe couldn't even begin to retaliate, when Nev attacked it again causing it to lose balance and miss the arm of Kain with it's teeth. Kain, on the other hand, didn't retreat in the face of his arm almost getting ripped out, if it weren't for Nev timely attack, and continued to plum the fiery dog with swift punches, before retreating with a step back managing to avoid the incoming attacks of the growlithe.
bang
brrrrr
Nev had slammed against the legs of the growlithe again, by using Quick Attack to boost it's speed, when the staggering growlithe turned towards it and spewed out flames in a bulk.
Kain' eyes flashed with anger for a short moment at the sight of Nev being engulfed in the wave of fire. Pushing forward he slammed his foot on the fiery dog' head, before locking it in a headlock and began squeezing it tightly, causing the growlithe to begin to chock.
Even when he felt the claws pierce and rip his skin and muscle apart or the flames burn his flesh and nerves, he didn't give up and continued on holding out.
His bloody efforts paid in the end, with the struggle of the fiery dog beginning to die down.
Kain: "Now!"
Letting go for a moment, he gritted his teeth, to bear with the pain coursing through his entire body, and proceed to punch the growlithe without stop until he felt no strength in his arms.
Kain: "Just need to do it."
Dropping to his knees, right beside the fallen growlithe, he reached into his left pocket, with his whole arm trembling and pain assaulting him through his entire body. Retrieving a pokeball from the pocket he threw it against the immobile growlithe, before collapsing to the cracked and broken floor.
He was barely able to keep his eyes open to see the red and white ball shake three times, before he succumbed to the pain and close his eyes.

[ Some time later ]
Kain: Grrrr
Opening his heavy eyes and trying to stand up, he felt the sharp pain hitting, like daggers, through his entire body, causing him to remain there for a little bit until he accustomed himself to the pain.
Kain: pfff.....pfff...ppfff
Breathing to relax the pain and calm himself, he began looking around after being able to sit on the cracked floor.
At distance he was able to see Nev laying on the ground with burns all over its tiny body, and a pokeball and a potion between him and his rattata.
He didn't know how long he had been out and what time remained for the dungeon to close.
Kain: grrrrrrrrr
Gritting his teeth, he crawled his way to the potion and pokeball. Disgarding completely the pokeball, he picked up the potion only to drop it the moment after, because of the pain assaulting his arm.
Looking down, with difficulty, as even moving his neck proved to be a hurdle, he saw that there were numerous burns and wounds all over his arm.
He didn't know how he was even able to move it considering the amount and gravity of injuries riddled his arm.
Taking the chance to observe his body, slowly. He found that his arms were the least of his concerns.
How he was able to fight and still move despite his injuries was something that he didn't care to know or concern himself with, at least he was alive. For now.
Reaching for the potion once more, he used it all over his body. He didn't hold back on using and emptied the whole bottle in an instant on himself.
What came next was something that shocked him. His injuries, although at slow pace, began to heal. The burnt flesh and skin were slowly disappearing and the cuts closing.
Kain: I must be hallucinating under the pain.
Shaking his head about how he was beginning to lose his mind, he laid down slowly on the cracked floor before falling asleep.
[ Some time later ]
Waking up once more and taking out his phone, that was still functioning, miraculously, he saw that it was the third day in the dungeon.
Kain: huff....
Sitting up on the cracked floor, he noticed at that moment that he wasn't feeling as much pain as before. Turning to look at his arm he found that his burns weren't as serious as before.
Examining the rest of his body he also saw that the cuts were still there, although smaller, and the burns considerable weaker, with some of them completely gone.
Standing up, he moved around his arms to see if the pain was bearable.
Kain: That shit does wonders. Although there is still some pain, and the injuries are kinda of worrying, its effects still feel.... magical.
Looking away from his body to the pokeball on the ground, he was about to pick it up when he noticed some movement from the corner of his eye. Turning to look he found Nev still laying there on the ground. Approaching the purple rodent, he placed his finger under its nose.
Kain: "Still breathing.... the thing is.... the damage is so big...."
Hesitant on what to do, he didn't know whenever to end the life of the rodent or try and save it. The damage was too much and the burns through its body didn't look good. He ended up shaking his head from side to side while touching the rodent with its own pokeball, sucking it inside.
Kain: I will try.
Putting Nev' pokeball away on his right pocket, he picked up the one holding his new growlithe as his eyes went open, seemingly in shock.

Although it was at a lower level than Nev, the condition Nev is in shows that levels and moves aren't everything.
Kain: I should do the dungeon the remaining of times to get the potions.... the problem is.... my condition. I won't be able to fight at full strength, Nev is more dead than alive, and growlithe should be completely battered and bruised from our fight.... well.... since the dungeon is done, then I guess I should rest for the remainder of the time.
Finishing coming up with his next step, he went to the ground floor, heading immediately to the cafeteria where he began golfing down anything he could put his hand on. Never had he went without food for so long before, even then he tried to control himself while eating, since he could choke or wreck his system after going so long without food.
Strength was returning to his body as he clenched his left fist.
Kain: "Not 100%, but it should be doable without having the need to catch it."
His only worry in attempting the dungeon was the boss, growlithe, but he felt confident enough that he could handle it without having to catch it. It was pretty big difference between the two goals – Killing and Catching.
[ Around 12 days later, in the dungeon ]
Kain was currently examining his whole body to see that the state of his injuries. Scars were left behind by the worst ones with the other ones having healed and begone by now.
He didn't care much about it either way. What if he had a couple of scars through his body? It wasn't something that bothered him the slightest.
Lifting his head, he spotted his new partner running around the roof excited. It was no other than the growlithe that he had caught, Escan.
Doing that he thought of his other partner, Nev. Reaching for its pokeball he played a little with it before putting it back.
He just had to get home and give the potion that he had there to the purple rodent, if, even then, it wouldn't work.... well....
Although he didn't like how Nev was hurt, he was far happier with the results when he looked at Escan again.
