《TeamFortress2's New Addition》Chapter Twenty-Eight

"Wait, right now? What about lunch?" You asked and stopped walking, pulling away.
"Jes right now. Ve don't haff to eat with everyvone, I can bring zhe food to zhe Medbay," he answered and attempted to lead you once again to the Medbay. Well there goes my good day. Dang it. You reluctantly let him take you to the Medbay. Once there, he pushed you inside. "Sit zhere, I vill get lunch." He pointed to a medical bed and walked out to the kitchen. You sat down and awkwardly messed with your fingers until he eventually returned. He held two plates balancing cups of water with him like a waiter and handed you a plate. It was a macaroni with chicken dish and it looked good. You took it carefully as you could, but you still managed to make the plate threateningly wobble.
"Woah!" You snatched the water cup up right before it could tip over and Medic huffed in exasperation. You felt the back of your neck heat up from embarrassment and you gave an awkward chuckle. "S-sorry..." He sat down on another bed so close you your knees were almost touching. You wanted to back up to put more distance between you both, but you already screwed up once and it wasn't worth it making him more annoyed than he already was. You sat the cup down beside you.
"Vhatever," he said, waving away the mishap. You picked up the fork and started eating, and just as you thought, it was delicious. Despite how good the meal was, you couldn't relax and properly eat. Your back was tensed up and your eyes kept scanning the room. Beads of sweat ran down the back of your neck and you slowly became more and more uncomfortable. Medic on the other hand, was doing fine. He didn't seem to notice what-so-ever that your hands were shaking. You took a deep breath and calmed down. No need to overreact.
"S-so, um, what did you want to talk about again?" You asked in a high voice. He looked up.
"Ah, yes. Vell I vas think ve'd just have a little chat and zhen jou could leave. Zhat's all," he gave you a creepy smile you thought was supposed to be reassuring. That doesn't answer my question you freaky evil bulter. You nodded slowly and took a sip of your water to quench your dry throat. You kept scanning the room to keep yourself occupied while you ate. The Medbay was dimly lit and haunting. I wish to leave here please. Medic was acting as if nothing bothered him, nothing strange was going on. How can he be like this? He was serious just a second ago and now it's like he's have the best day ever. What the Hell? It felt like ages before he looked up from his plate again and spoke:

"Now, vhat's bozhering jou?" He asked, practically staring into your soul. You started to get heated up. You.
"W-what do you m-mean, Medic?" You asked him, confused. I thought we already sorted this out and you were there! His brow furrowed.
"Jou know vhat I mean, vhy jou ran out of my Medbay like a madman!" Oh, right. Wait, I thought you knew already?
"Didn't you already know, I explained to everyone during that... awkward conversation...." You trailed off, slightly shrinking under his gaze.
"Right..., vell zhen, vhy do jou stay up so late?" He leaned forward in a semi-threatening manner.
"How would you know?" You leaned into him meeting his little challenge with a sudden rush of confidence. Your foreheads were almost touching now. Are you the person who I hear at night you fucking creep? His face turned red and he backed up.
"I-I don't know vha-!"
"Tell me Medic," you said in a stern yet calm tone. You slowly sat back up.
"Jes, I vas, but only because jou were staying up so late!" He huffed and collected himself. "It's jour turn, vhy vere jou up so late?" He folded his arms and you shook your head.
"What is with you all, you just have to ask! Look Medic, I was working on school, because as of right now, I am still a student who needs to graduate. My day is taken up with preparing for battles and I still have work piling up. The only time I can get it done is at night." It was the German's turn to shake his head.
"It's not healthy for jou to stay up so late like zhat and not get sleep. Jou'll be too tired to be productive anymore." While he lectured you, you stared at your feet the rush of confidence gone, yours hanging off the table and his planted on the floor. God I know! What else can I do to get things done?
"I know, I know. I just don't have time and I don't want to get behind. Medic what else can I do? Too much drama happening and this training and this...." Medic placed his hands on your shoulders, making you look up, the bags under your eyes feeling heavy.

"For vone, training only goes until lunch, two, jou do not have time to vork in zhe afternoons because jou are focusing on jour drama." He seemed to notice the bags and took a softer voice. That does make sense.... You looked back down. "Hey, jou don't need to hide jour problems from us. Unfortunately, I know somevone will already risk their lives for jours. Jou can talk to zhem and if you must, talk to me. Just don't disturb me vhen I'm doing somezhing important, please." Not sure if I want to though, that's the problem.
"Right, of course," you muttered, feeling your slightly calmed composure start to crumble to a panicked mess. I just want to go now.
"Look up," he ordered, tilting your chin up. This is not right let me go before I run. Again, you fucking creep.
"Yes?" You tried to ask in the sweetest voice you could manage to not be suspicious. Oh shit that was suspicious.
"Stop moping like a baby," he said and let go of you. He drank some water.
"Right, sorry," you shifted, the heat in your cheeks slowly going away. Then you thought of a question. "Medic, why don't you like me? I get I don't seem that special and it doesn't bother me one way or another, but just why? I haven't done anything to you yet." He paused and stared upwards, thinking.
"I don't know, at least not anymore."
"What do you mean 'not anymore?'"
"I thought jou vouldn't haff been vorth it to spend time training into one of us. Jou veren't... enough."
"Am I now?"
"Vell, ve'll see about zhat after ve start fighting again, but as of right now, I guess jou haff potential."
"Heh, thanks. Makin' me feel real special there Medic," you joked sarcastically.
"Jou're velcome." Bruh.
You both continued eating in silence when Archimedes decided to pay a visit and perch on your head. No matter how many times Medic tried to shoo him away, he would just come back.
"Ack! Birds," he grumbled, angrily shoving a bite of food into his mouth. Archimedes cooed in response and you laughed while Medic rolled his eyes. Eventually you both finished, so when Medic escorted you out of the Medbay, Archimedes took his leave. You both reached the living room and found teammates lounging around. Engie looked up with a mix of a confused and an intrigued look.
"Where have you two been? We finished lunch a while ago," Engie asked from the couch, holding a beer.
"Talking," Medic answered and you both put your dishes in the sink. You walked back out to the living room while Engie scanned your faces. Scout was playing video games, being so invested he didn't even seem to noticed you two come in. Demo was passed out and Pyro was playing with a lighter next to the fireplace.
"May I ask what you were talking about," Engie asked, taking another sip of beer.
"No, jo-" You cut Medic off.
"He was checking up on how I was doing with all of the training. Physically, I mean," you answered. Medic looked from you to Engie.
"Oh, well is she alright doc?" Engie asked, looking more relaxed.
"Jes, she seems to be handling it quite vell. Now, if jou somehow start dying, I'll be in zhe Medbay," Medic announced and you nodded while he left the room. You sat on the opposite end of Engie and watch Scout intensely fight a boss. Beads of sweat were running down his neck. Heavy walked in and sat between you two. You were slightly squished, but didn't say anything. It was only when he put a comforting arm around you, pulling you close, did you realize why he didn't just sit on the other couch. He's there for me, just like the others.
