《Arrogant Young Master becomes an Adventurer》1. Failing To Become An Adventurer -Lyonhall Arc
Advertisement
In the town of Lyonhall, one of the starting places for a new adventurer. About 50,000 people live and work jobs supporting the adventurers. The economy of the town relied on the continuous recruitment of new adventurers as the older and veteran adventurers leave off for stronger lands. Lyonhall was a place filled with low-level weak monsters, making it a perfect place for a newbie to start their new life.
The guild was the single strongest entity here. The most important building was the grand guildhall where thousands of adventurers walk through its door to take a new quest. Almost all of the shops in this town were controlled by the guild. They sell everything you need from armor to weapons. And provide every entertainment possible for the adventurers. All so the guild can recoup the money and profit off the adventurers. Thankfully, the bank wasn’t controlled by the guild so they couldn’t keep exploiting you. Instead, it was controlled by the mighty Blue Fairy empire so your money gets exploited by them.
Jakari finally made it to the town of Lyonhall. He just turned 18 yesterday and bid his family farewell to become an adventurer. He doesn’t know much about the outside world nor was he even trained to become an adventurer. Simply put, his father forbade him from going to school and learning how to fight from anyone. All his life, Jakari could only watch the other kids go to school to learn new things, fight each other with wooden swords, or even train in using magic from a mage.
Jakari was a fresh young man with a painfully average appearance. He won’t get bullied for being ugly nor will he ever be noticed by any girls.
Flashback scene to when Jakari was 5 years old. Jakari’s mother was using her hand to hold his and his 9 years old sister's hand while having a knapsack attached to her with their 1-year-old little sister. His father was currently beside them all and they were on the far outskirts of a small town watching the ongoing people on their day-to-day life.
“Don’t cry Jakari,” said his father. “Nobody here is qualified to teach you anything. Even a retired diamond-ranked adventurer like me can’t teach you anything. Your talent is too monstrous. Nobody in this world can stop you. They are all trash compared to you. Always remember that.”
Flashback scene end.
Jakari didn’t understand what his father was saying at that time. Even though he is 18 now, he still doesn’t understand why his father forbade him from learning anything. But since he’s a recognized adult now, he can do his own things and pursue his dreams of becoming the strongest adventurer. Because of his sheltered upbringing, he thought of everyone else as trash. Trash with no hopes of ever beating Jakari in anything.
Before he left his parents, his mother pointed out the guildhall. The guildhall stood out from the rest of the town so Jakari had no problems finding it. Countless new adventurers could be seen walking all over town, they all had terrible equipment too. Jakari was behind a group of three people as they held the door open for him as he walked inside. There were hundreds of adventurers inside, talking with each other, eating at the restaurant bar, or lining up to submit a quest to the guild. There were 10 receptionists processing the crowds of adventurers.

Jakari stood in line as he trembled with the excitement of becoming an adventurer. Then after 30 minutes of waiting in line, it was finally his turn to talk with the receptionist.
“How may I help you?” said the pretty guild lady.
“I would like to become an adventurer,” said Jakari.
The pretty guild lady had a small frown and replied, “adventurer registrations are on every Sunday so it’s tomorrow. We even put up huge posters everywhere, how could you not see them. There is even a poster right next to us! Can’t you newbies learn how to read! Well since you’re the first idiot who asked me that today, I will let you off the hook. Next time, I’m getting security to kick you out.”
“I don’t know how to read,” replied Jakari without any hesitation or shame. The others behind him were snickering behind his back. Jakari couldn’t care less what those trash behind him thought of him.
She rolled her eyes, “I heard that a million times already but if you really don’t how to read then you’re better off not being an adventurer.”
“Why not?” asked the confused Jakari.
The pretty guild lady sighed, “Idiots like you die fast. Next!”
Jakari stepped away from the counter as another man took his place. Jakari began walking towards the exit of the guildhall as there was simply nothing he could do here. He came to this town with only clothes on his body and nothing else. Because he had no money, he couldn’t afford to stay at the guild’s inn or any other private inns. But Jakari had no concept of money so it was a moot point.
The group of three that came inside with him earlier also saw his idiocy. The young man provoked, “Hey kid, wanna join my party to gain some adventuring experience?”
“I don’t need your help trash,” answered Jakari with disdain.
The young man got angry that someone who wasn’t even an adventurer yet was looking down on him. He angrily pointed towards his copper-ranking plate on his armor. “I’m offering you help! And you want to be this rude to me? I’m a copper-ranked adventurer and you’re a nobody! Just so you know everyone starts out at wood-ranked and copper is above it so respect me as your senior.”
“Relax Carl, no need to be so upset at a newbie. Just another one of those overconfident youngsters who think they are the main character,” said Chake.
Jakari had already left the guildhall not paying any attention to the trash before him. He walked towards the first dangerous area outside of the town. The slime plains, where a bunch of weak slimes spawns in this area and countless newbies are gathered here to hunt them down for their cores and to gain experience. He saw many melee types of weapons he had never seen before. Also, a bunch of low-level magic spells as well. In his eyes, they were all trash.
The slimes were so small and weak that you don’t even need to be a wood-ranked adventurer to go into this area. Although little children could still possibly die from these slimes if they let those small slimes attack them endlessly. The slimy corrosion was weak but persistent over time, it was enough to break down your skin and bones if you give it 30 minutes.

Jakari kicked a lone slime and it instantly obliterated, the blue slime that once coated its entire body splattered all over the ground away from Jakari, dropping a small slime core. The small spherical core had a diameter of 5 cm. “trash.”
It was a common sight for newbie adventurers to kill the slimes in one hit so nobody paid any attention to Jakari. The slimes were mostly for people practicing their new skills or to train kids for when they became an adventurer.
He proceeded to kick dozen more slimes to death while collecting up all the slime cores. They were only worth about 0.05 copper coins each so you needed 20 of them to get 1 copper coin. He was only collecting them because he saw the other adventurers collecting them and had zero ideas what they were used for but he knew that the guild would know. He collected 20 slime cores and stuffed them into all of his pockets. With no more space to store them and with his hands carrying 7 of them for a total of 27 slime cores, he proceeded to return to the guildhall.
As he was lining up again and awaited his turn to see the receptionist. The party of three saw him carrying the slime cores with his bare hands and laughed at him.
“Looks like you’re the real trash, trying to make money with the slime cores! They aren’t worth anything! And you don’t even have a bag to store them? Are you an idiot?” mocked Carl.
“Carl that’s enough. No need to belittle this overconfident newbie,” said Chake.
“He needs to know his place in the world. Destroying his cocky attitude now will save him from future troubles and he will come to thank me for teaching him humility.”
Carl had to get back at Jakari for calling him trash. Carl swatted the slime cores in Jakari’s hands yet nothing happened. The moment he made contact, it was like his hand had slapped an immovable mountain. Everyone around them saw what was happening but none of them intervene. It was a common sight for adventurers to get into minor scuffles with each other.
Carl was stunned there and tried putting even more force into his swings as he tried knocking the slime cores out of Jakari’s hand. But it was completely futile. Jakari was getting annoyed at this trash who was trying to mess with him. He threw one of the slime cores at Carl’s face and it caved in from the pressure. The slime core bounces off his face, leaving a small crater on his bloody face and Jakari skillfully recollected it into his hands. Several of the adventurers laughed at Carl.
Chake wanted to stop Carl from bullying this newbie but when he saw that his friend was being humiliated. He took up his sword. Carl did the same as well. Carl held his sword against Jakari, “you dare ruin my handsome face!” one of his hands was holding onto his broken bloody nose. “I will teach you to never mess with me again! Come outside and fight me!”
Jakari snorted at Carl and Chake threatening him. He threw two slime cores at both of their faces at high speed. They couldn’t even react to his attack. The slime cores made a huge crater on both of their bloody faces, knocking them down to the floor unconscious. Then the slime cores bounced off their face and Jakari skillfully caught them back into his hands. Next, he crouched before the two bloody young men on the floor, whispering in their ears, “get out of my face trash.”
Two copper-ranked adventurers were defeated by a nobody in one hit. Everyone who was bronze and higher couldn’t care less. But the copper and lower-ranked people were shocked and thought that Jakari was probably bronze or higher. Adventurers can openly display their rank to everyone by wearing their ranking on their clothes or armor. Jakari didn’t have any plating to display his ranking and all the weak newbies thought he was a super-strong adventurer. The people in the guild sighed at this scuffling and ordered the healers to take them to the infirmary.
Jakari stood back up and went back in line. The others in the line didn’t bother protesting Jakari losing his place in the queue. Soon a girl approached Jakari. She was the 3rd and final member of their group. A low-level ice mage. “What are you doing to my party members!? You better repay us back threefold if you want us to forgive you! I’m reporting you to the guild!” She used her ice magic to freeze Jakari’s shoes to the floor. But it was useless, the ice broke apart when Jakari lifted his foot to step forward in line.
“I’m talking to you!” she yelled at his face while putting her hands on Jakari’s shoulder to prevent him from escaping.
“Don’t waste your time, the two copper adventurers were trying to mess with this newbie. He didn’t do anything wrong,” said the random guy behind Jakari.
“Yeah!”
“Leave him alone!”
The wood-ranked adventurers were defending Jakari because they know what it was like to be bullied by those above them. Even though it was against the guild’s rules, the copper rankers would often bully the wood rankers into giving them everything they earn when undergoing quests together. They called it giving the newbies experiences, but really they were just exploiting them.
The girl glared at them, “that’s none of your business! He has to pay us back for the healing fee and more!” She stood in front of Jakari, blocking him from selling his slime cores to the guild. “pay me 1,000 copper coins or 1 silver coin and I will let this matter go!”
Everyone around them knew it was a huge ripoff. The guild’s healing fee only cost 10 copper coins. And if they couldn’t afford to pay it, then it was simply added on as debt for the adventurer. She wanted to get as much money worth out of Jakari. Unfortunately, Jakari was penniless so he couldn’t even give her anything even if he wanted to. And Jakari had no concept of money so he didn’t even know what this trash was even talking about.
“You don’t want the guild to ban you right?” dared the ice-girl trash.
