《New World, the battle between light and darkness》Ch 4 The Glade

Luke stood stock still, like a dry sponge he drew in the scene before him, the glade that spread around him was full of trees, a shallow brook, muted light and warmth, it is neither hot nor cold. the grass around looked lush and green, thick enough to walk on, like a carpet giving bounce to his step.
He moved quickly to the brook and drank deeply of the water. Standing, his thirst was quenched, he took off his shirt and tie and washed his face and upper body in the cool water. What a wonderful sensation after the sticky dirty grimy feeling he had been aware of prior to that. Now of course his stomach growled at him, feeling left out. Luke scanned the trees and was amazed to see that most of them carried fruit, apples pears, peaches and plums, and some other he did not know.
He turned to the Light Servant Zac and said "Hey Zac, this place is wonderful, i wonder could i pick some fruit?". The Light Servant Zac appeared to be surprised by the use of his name, "Um err, yes of course, you can take any you wish, but do not take from the papa tree, which is over there". Zac pointed to the fruit tree that Luke remembered that he had never seen before, Luke said "oh that one, I was curious as to that fruit, as I have never seen a fruit like it".
Zac replied forcefully which shocked Luke a bit "You must not take that fruit, do you understand this Luke?". Luke turned his head to face Zac quickly and shook his head in affirmation. saying "Yes , Yes of course".
Luke turned to the apple tree and picked one, thinking to himself, "i seem to remember this story from somewhere, I had better learn from others mistakes".

As Luke ate his apple, he walked towards Zac and sat down, "This is such a wonderful and peaceful place" Zac replied, "yes, the master made it for his pleasure, he walks in this garden and you shall meet him in due time. For now, sit enjoy eat and play, if you have any more questions, it would be my pleasure to answer them".
Luke said I need to think, i need to rest I will call you if I need you to answer any questions that come to mind. Thank you again for your help and warnings, i will take heed of them.
With that Luke was left apparently alone. Luke suddenly thought inventory, "Inventory!", up came his inventory screen. Luke was harranging himself for not having thought of it before. "wow why did i not consider this before", expecting it to be empty he looked and noticed he had starting kit for an adventurer, a knife, tinderbox, 20 wood, an axe, training sword, training shield, training armour made of leather and 5 gold. Luke pulled out his knife and a piece of wood. He closed the screen by saying "close" thought for a minute then started hacking at the wood with his knife.
Hours had passed and he had a sort of shape, it was supposed to be a bird, he put much effort into making it, but it was lopsided and truly not a sight to see. He did not know what to do with it now, there were no bins so he opened his inventory once again and put it inside, removing another piece of wood to try again. By sundown, he was very tired and his attempts at carving had caused only one screen to pop up saying it was a very poorly made bird. The experience he got from his badly finished piece was only 2 points. "After all those hours, this is not going to be as much fun as I thought".

Luke decided to go to sleep, but before that he wanted to speak to Zac, he called him and he dutifully appeared. Zac asked, "what is it that you want Luke", Luke turned and said, "I only wanted to say thank you again and that I was now going to sleep, so goodnight". Zac responded with "goodnight Luke".

Unstable and weakened, will he be more hindrance than help? Can he become the warrior he once was?A Monk and a Monkey journey across a world...... where the remnants of technology are seen as magic, while pockets of humanity strive to drag themselves out of ignorance.... where the descendants of animal-human hybrids, once created as instruments of war, now seek to dominate the world as demons.... where beings who call themselves Immortals and Gods preoccupy themselves with selfish pastimes, ignoring everything else. Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.
