《Spider's Odyssey》Chapter 19: Who's that pokemon

“I need to wash my face so it doesn’t look puffy!!” Gwen spat out before leaving him in the room. He fixed himself, slicking back his hair into a ponytail before putting on a relaxed smiled and walking back into the hallway, past the living room, and into the kitchen where he saw Gwen’s parents, opening up the bags to check their order.
“I hope you can still put down, a couple of belly burger’s Jacob” Captain Stacy joked before lifting his bag that was slightly grease stained. Jacob clapped rubbing his hands together before sitting next at opposite of Captain Stacy.
“Yessir!!” Jacob opened the bag and the wafting smell of the bacon burger surrounded him, making his body threaten to lose control. He also saw fries and an incoming Vanilla milkshake from Ms. Stacy.
“2 big bacon belly burgers, a medium fries with a large Vanilla Milkshake? I don’t know how you kids do It.” Ms. Stacy Chuckled softly before displaying her food.
“Well, Jacob here needs it to fuel his big brain if he wants to go get back on track. You know he’s going places with that handsome face of his Helen” Captain Stacy winked after the compliment. Gwen had taken her usual spot right next to Jacob and both of the Stacy’s noticed the puffiness of their daughters facing.
“Honey, you okay?” Captain Stacy face lit with concern but Gwen put out a hand stopping any further engagement.
“I’m fine. Jacob was making me laugh remembering the time we went to the carnival.” Gwen beamed him smile before opening the package. Mr. Stacy sat down to his seat before, looking at his wife.
“Isn’t that the time where it was pouring down raining, and they tried walking home with boots full of water? They both almost came down with a cold and we had chicken soup for dinner. Right?” Captain Stacy whispered out loud.
“From Rio’s recipe? I remember that day. That was when we were suppose to go to Metropolis right? For the police convention but neither of us really wanted to go.” Ms. Stacy questioned.
“Mhm.” Captain Stacy nodded his head while taking a bite out of his burger. They all continued eating, not wanting to ruin the mood or not having anything to say in each other’s company until Captain’s phone rang but he ignored it.
“Work?” Gwen asked worried. Captain Stacy looked at the both of them before smirking.
“Isn’t it always? It’s just with the new vigilante, the ‘ Scarlet Spider’ coming into Gotham and with some of the new criminals popping up. I don’t know what’s happening to Gotham anymore honey. I remember when we used to have just Batman- heck I remember Gotham with no Batman and how bad it was but now it’s just anarchy recently. He- they don’t help when they decide to push on their own agendas.” Captain Stacy rambled before hearing his phone ring again but he still ignored it.

“What agendas do they have, I hear that the Scarlet Spider, Batman, Nightwing and company are good guys, no?” Jacob pushed back.
“It’s all political, a vigilante trying to sway people like he’s some type of superman but he destroys things all of the same? In just the last couple of weeks he’s destroyed tons of properties including a whole Parking Garage and almost caused one of the main banks in Gotham to collapse with people inside! For Christs sake, he’s no hero. He’s a punk kid, or man that likes to pretend. Don’t get me started on Batman.” Captain Stacy scoffed.
“But he helps people, Not just the city but the people. He doesn’t just wait until something big happens, or calls the police when there’s a 10 foot- Humanoid alligator trying to eat everyone. He goes out of his way to serve the people like you do, like my father did. For example, one of his first appearance. He saved a child during a robbery gone, car chase. I heard that people could’ve died he hadn’t had been there” Jacob pushed back a little more.
“A fan?” Captain Stacy raised his eyebrow.
“No sir, I stand with you. My father told me never to take things into my own hand unless I have taken the oath like you all have” Jacob lied.
“Go-”
“But I think he, she. Whatever the fact of his real identity might be- Scarlet Spider. This vigilante might be in it for the sake of people and not this ‘agenda’ you may think he has” Jacob argued.
“Maybe, bu-”
His phone rang for the last time interrupting his conversation and he looked at the caller I.D, he eyes rolled before getting up pausing everything before answering the call and leaving the room. Jacob focused his senses, enhancing them to hear the phone call happening but he couldn’t make out every word.
“Warehouse, Freeze. Is there anyone there. No- CROC. Who the fuck let him, Okay Jim. Okay. I’ll be downstairs in five. Gwen is going to kill me. It’s the first time in months I’ve seen them look so happy” Jacob faked coughed as his eyes widened slightly, before holding his sleeve to muffle his voice from the others.
“Link, protocal self call. Now!” Jacob ordered, he then took another sip of his Vanilla Milkshake before hearing the his phone chime and he also got up, taking his Vanilla shake with him.
“I got to take this, I’ll be up on the roof,” Jacob shook his phone before leaving the apartment, and quickly left walking normally as he heard Gwen yell at her father for leaving on his day off. He reached the top of the apartment building holding the huge hvac. He walked over to the ledge and out, seeing the flashing blue and reds from the cop car collecting one of theirs for a mission that screamed help.

‘I got to go. Sorry Gwen. Good thing I left my bag near the front door when I went to the kitchen to eat’ Jacob thought, as he looked towards his bag, and saw the mask staring back.
‘Once more unto the breach, dear friend’ Jacob smiled as he quickly changed and jumped out off the ledge once the cops began to leave.
“Woo!!!!!” Jacob screamed as he hurled to towards the ground. He felt the adrenaline rush into his body. He feels his clothes rustling in the wind as the air roared at him, until he followed right behind them by shooting his web to latch on to a building. They lead him to the North side of Gotham were most of the warehouses were located but most of the cops were dragged off to the side. Jacob didn’t have to look closely, as a decently size ice wall blocked their path. Jacob decided to go ahead trying to piece together what was happening from behind the wall. He arrived at the closet Warehouse where he could perfectly see the action but it just seemed like a normal buyout from some type of gang. One of many due to the numerous amount of unmarked vans that had goons being sent in between them.
‘Looks like one of the book fairs back in middle school. You think they have diary of a wimpy kid?’ Jacob joked as he silently approached trying to take a better look of what was being negotiated. Nothing was happening besides the moving parcels wrapped in standard brown paper but that soon changed when one of the unmarked vans opened the backdoor, two more followed. One on one side and then then two opposing. The first one that opened was a older bald man with a nice tweed suit and cigar in his mouth. It looked like the month always had thing there as their was an increased amount of wrinkly skin around his mouth. He looked royally pissed off, throwing the cigar on to the ground and stomping on it before motioning someone in front of him in the van to exit. The person being motioned to come out was someone from the second van, and soon enough, the person making their appearance was a masked man in purple, and green suit….
“The Prowler’s exosuit…no” Jacob exasperated a sigh, hoping that it wasn’t who he thought it was. Once the guy in the suit came out, another person made their way out came out. The Van started shaking, looking like something heavy that was trying to release itself from the van but the only thing was freed was it’s large tail.
“Mr. Freeze, The Prowler, Killer Croc, and Sal Maroni. An interesting band of misfits but what are you guys planning.” Jacob thought before trying to piece together was happening, but he was close enough to hear some of the conversation.
“Killer Croc is out of detainment just like you asked. Now the money and the new tech. Nora is wait-”
“Yeah yeah, My buddy, here as Croc’s replacement…How’d you like him in the job? Was he satisfactory? To your like Mr. Freeze?” That tweed mob boss puckered his cigar lighting it with a small torch before the plumbs of smoke was sucked in, before being released once all of the taste was sucked out of the smoke.
“He is smarter than that monster Killer Croc, More obedient than that bird brain Toomes, and More likeable than weirdo MacGargan.” Mr. Freeze said as he gripped his gun tightly before releasing it and nodding.
“Yes, Satifactory” Mr. Freeze calmly replied. Sal Maroni walked near Mr. Freeze with an arrogance that could only be seen in movies. With no fucks to care in the world before whispering something Intelligible towards Prowler. As soon as Maroni backed up, Jacob saw the Prowler whip out a Desert Eagle, turn to his direction and shoot at him. It staggered some of the Goons who weren’t prepared for the gunshots. Jacob seeing bullets coming towards him, evaded them effortlessly as he came out of his hiding place. Luckily with the ice block behind him, Jacob was pinning them against the warehouse which was only backed by the river, while he was backed with the rest of the police force behind him.
‘Why didn’t my spider sense go off?’ Jacob looked at his covered hands as a cold sweat and he shook his head as he tried to go camo but it didn’t work as he dodged another round of bullets. Jacob jumped off of his hiding place opting to come out in front of them, Prowler adjusted his aim to Jacob’s moving body and he was undoubtedly about to pull the trigger before he heard a cackle.
“Woah there. I knew that you’d be better, I bet Killer Croc couldn’t even sense him, but the two of you.. Will be perfect for this operation.!!” Sal Maroni. Smiled the prowler before tossing the rest of the cigar.
“Can’t we just talk this out. Maybe we can work something out?” Jacob smiled. Dodging a freeze blast which did avoided thanks to his spidey tense.
‘My tingler’s off with the purple guy’

Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.
