《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 3

"So what is the plan now that we're free? Oh, and don't forget trapped in this cave." Kayley handed Jet's sword back to him.
"That's not the problem. We need to make them think we are dead." Jet had ripped Jeff's shirt apart to bandage his wounds. Mostly to cover the shiny rock in his chest.
"That's the big problem? I'd like to know the plan to get out."
"Like I said, easy, we just walk out. Now, how to attract one of those giant moles that wonder these tunnels?" Jet, unfortunately, met one of them early on. Half the people in his group got eaten.
"What is a mole?" Kayley asked.
"A giant rat," Jeff explained.
"I think they called it a frigate. Which is some kind of boat where we come from." Jet added while putting his hand on the wall. "Speak of the devil, and he will appear."
"What are you going on about?" Kayley thought Jet was acting a little odd. That was until there was a slight rumbling.
"Ok, Jet, now that you thought so hard, the giant rat has appeared. Now what?" Jeff asked.
"The smell of blood probably attracted it. Now let's get started." Jet grabbed up both bracelets and shoved them down the pants of Larkin. "There now, it will look like we got eaten along with these two."
Both of them just stared at Jet. "Why did you put the bracelets in his pants?" Jeff asked.
"His shirt is covered in holes. We just need to hope that they don't kill the mole." Jet fiddled around a little more before walking over to a wall. They could easily hear the mole heading towards them now.
"Why?" Kayley asked, getting a bit worried from the sounds.
"If they find those bracelets, they'll know they had been cut. But what Jet isn't figuring out is if the creature shits them out. If they are tracked, all they need do is find them after the digestion." At the same time, Jeff explained that Jet stopped looking at the wall and ran over, grabbing the bracelets back up.
"Then what do we do with them?" Jet asked.
"You have magic. Fry the circuits, then put them back."
Jet stood there dumbfounded. How had he not thought of that? "Yeah, that would work."
"Ok, now, before you make us a way out. You two need to scream like your being, well eaten." Both Jet and Kayley eyed Jeff. "My chest still hurts. I'll just help plan."
Before Jet could say anything, Kayley let out a shriek. Jet really thought she was about to be eaten. Then she punched him on the arm, glaring. He took the hint and screamed as well.
"That thing is getting close Jet make the way out. Also, forget what I said and take those bracelets with us."
Jet listened and walked over to the wall he had been looking at. With a thought, it started to move apart, making a new tunnel. "I hate to rush you, Jet. But it's almost here." Jeff spoke into Jet's ear as he worked. That, however, did not make Jet go faster.
"A lot of metal to work around. That's why I was going to do this sooner." Jet quickly got a room big enough for them. Grabbing them, he closed up the wall.

"This may be." Kayley started to say something, but Jet covered her mouth. The walls began to shake from the movements of the giant mole.
"Why do we think it's a mole? Wouldn't the thing be closer to a gopher?" Jeff whispered.
"Oh yeah, that does make more sense." Jet whispered back, then realized Kayley was shivering. "Are you scared of the dark?"
"No, of course not. But you know, even whispering, that creature can hear us."
"Nah, as long as we whisper, it shouldn't. I got the air rotating around us." Jet had thought ahead just in case. "However, I'm going to drop our sound wall. I need to see if it is still around." When he lowered the air wall, they could make out crunching noises. Jet immediately put it back up. "I didn't need to hear that."
"Dido," Jeff replied.
After they had waited for about an hour, Kayley started to make chattering noises. "Are you claustrophobic or scared of the dark?" Jet asked, wondering how she could work in a mine. Then remembered there was no real choice in that.
"The dark." She whispered.
Well, at least it is something Jet could help with. He made a small flame for some light above them. "That's one issue solved. That stupid rat hasn't left. It may be able to smell us. It keeps sniffing at the wall."
"How do you know?" Jeff asked.
"I created a hole to look out."
"You can see in the dark?"
"Yeah, just use my magic sight. However, it's hard to make stuff out in here. Some of the metals glow with magic." Jet was certain he could kill the creature with some spikes, but that would defeat the purpose of making it look like they had been eaten.
"Won't it see this light from the flame?"
"Nah, don't have a hole right now. Let's start going deeper so I can make a thicker wall between the gopher and us." Jet pointed behind them. They had not noticed the tunnel had continued.
"How can you do all of that?" Kayley finally took her eyes off the small flame.
"All of what?"
"You can move the earth around and make flames." Kayley was in awe of Jet.
Jeff was about to add that she had forgotten about the wind wall. Until the wall shook and cracked, then immediately repaired. "Let's get moving. It noticed us." Jet pushed them forward just as a sharp claw pierced the wall. "Let's not dally too long." Jet added as he fixed the wall and made it thicker.
"What's that noise?" Kayley asked as they moved. The ground seemed to be shaking now.
"Making the tunnel a bit faster now. I was going slow to make no noise before." Jet said as he cut himself on some metal ore. That was a problem with his magic, not being able to move the metal out of the way. So they had to move around the sharp objects.
Jeff, however, could easily maneuver around them. For some reason, he could feel the easiest path to take. He hadn't noticed that the metal was bending out of his way.
"We almost out?" Kayley asked.
"Yeah, we need to stop and look out before we leave. I don't know if we're still close to town." Jet called the place a town. But to him, it was more like a prison. The gopher had finally given up the chase. So Jet went towards what he hoped was a way out. Once they got to the mountain wall, Jet made a small hole to look out. Just to have a hand reach in and grab him by the throat. A man pulled him through the wall, breaking it apart.

"I don't know how you guys broke out of the bracelets. But you made a very serious mistake." The man put a new bracelet on Jet and cuffed him in one motion.
"I forgot to deactivate the old bracelets." Jet could not believe he had forgotten about them.
"Oops, forgot I was going to tell you to bury them," Jeff said while getting cuffed as well.
"Sir, this woman was trying to hide this sword." Another guard had taken her down quickly. It was almost as if them two were the biggest threat. They only cuffed Jeff and stopped paying attention to him.
"So they had help getting out. Get the sword to the safe." They roughly dragged them back to the prison. Jeff, however, just followed them. They did not see him as a threat.
"So, that was the worst breakout ever." Jeff sat watching Jet and Kayley being chained to the wall.
"Yeah, definitely should have thought it out better." Jet shook the chains feeling drained.
"Nothing new for me. I've tried to break out several times." Kayley just sighed. "Sorry about your sword. I tried to store it before they could find it, but it wouldn't go into my spacial earring."
"That's ok. I can just summon World Breaker. Now, what do they plan to do to us now? Is there a lower job for us to do here?" Jet said.
"I don't know. I was just moved here." Kayley just shrugged.
The door opened, and the woman that purchased them walked in. "So it's you two. What a shame. I paid good money for you both." She looked over at Kayley. "Guess this escapee got into your heads."
"Love to let her get all the credit. But the plan was all of ours." Jet wasn't going to let Kayley get all the blame.
"Indeed, how long has Fred been helping you?" She asked.
"He didn't." Jet simply said.
"There's no point in hiding it. Fred has already been executed."
Jet just opened his mouth. He didn't have a problem with Fred. Sure he had whipped people for not working hard enough. Broke a man's hand for talking back. Stabbed another person for falling in front of him, making him trip. Broke another guard's nose just for winning at poker too many times. There was also the woman he stabbed through the chest just for sneezing in his direction. Ok, Jet didn't really care for the guy, but to be executed for helping them. "Nope, didn't help us at all."
"Well, even if he hadn't, he has cost me much over the years. Now what to do with you lot?"
"Let us go?" Jeff asked, knowing she couldn't understand him.
She looked over to Jet. "He said let us go." Jet answered.
"No, I got a better idea. One week in the hell."
Jet frowned at what she had said. Surely they didn't mean to kill them, or hell meant something completely different in this world. It wasn't like the first word that had been misinterpreted on the world. Then again, he hadn't had this problem in the kingdom of Hope. "So, where is that?"
She just raised an eyebrow and walked out of the room. The guards came in and started unchaining them from the walls. "Guess she didn't want to tell us." Kayley thought aloud.
"Guess not. What does hell mean in your language?" Jet asked.
"That's not what she said. She said one week in the ruins." Kayley answered.
The guards dragged them from the cell and brought them to another. It did seem pointless. Why not just leave them in the room that looked almost the same. Except for the gear on a table.
"Guy's, why is there winter gear here?" Jeff asked as he looked through the gear.
"Good question. It's stupidly hot in the mines. Maybe we're being shipped off to a mountain peak?" Kayley also looked through the gear.
"She said we would be there for a week. So I doubt it will be a mountain. The place must be close by." Jet thought aloud while picking up something that looked like climbing equipment. "I could be wrong."
One of the guards walked back into the room. "Hurry up and put the gear on. If you don't get it on in the next few minutes, you may have a miserable week. If you live."
Once they had got all the gear on they headed back out. Some of the guards helped them put the climbing gear on since they couldn't figure out how. Now they stood in front of a door sweating. "This could be hell. If we work in this, we're are going to fucking die. It's too hot here for winter gear." Jet complained, wiping the sweat from his eyes. Jeff and Kayley just nodded.
"Alright, you three step onto the elevator."
The three of them stepped into the small room. "What's an elevator?" Kayley asked once the door closed.
"It's an object that travels up and down. So maybe we're going to the top of the mountain. Explains the climbing gear." Jeff answered, not liking the idea of scaling a mountain.
Kayley just looked at him dumbly. Then Jet spoke up. "Jeff, we're headed down, not up."
"How can you tell?" Kayley asked.
"If we were headed up, we would feel heavier." Jet answered.
"More to the point, it's getting colder." Jeff stared at his now noticeable breath.
Kayley noticed the temperature drop as well. Jet, however, had his body enhancements going and hadn't noticed. He was about to say something about it not being that cold when the elevator came to a jerking stop. Jeff and Kayley both fell over at the sudden stop.
Jet walked out and looked out into an expanse he hadn't expected. There was a giant hole with ropes leading to tunnels. Looking to his side, there was a large pile of bodies. "What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?"

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? There's a reason people made the word improbable. Just because something would never happen based on common sense or reason, doesn't mean it can't happen. For example, a soul maintaining their memories through the River of the afterlife, a stream of ethereal energies that remove and store memories from the recently departed only to return when they die again. Another example, a soul by it's sheer will maintaining awareness during the process of a new body's development; nearly infintesimile chances of happening, but there is still a chance. Hi, you can call me Esseu (S U) and I managed to do both of those nearly impossible things back to back. My reward for such a feat? I was turned into a glorified bee keeper.
