《Your Class Teacher》CHAPTER 45: The Headman

After that strange phone call coming from the first Elite, Travis headed to the nearest restaurant in front of the hospital to meet up with him. The phone call was nothing but for Travis to be summoned to the restaurant. It was already late at night so the streets were all gloomy and silent. Only the streetlights remained to illuminate the route.
When he entered the restaurant, the first thing he noticed was the staff welcoming him. He was grateful for it so he gave the staff a huge smile. Following it was the empty seats inside. There were just a few people since it was almost midnight so there's no wonder why the mood is so calm.
The place is as fancy as his outfit, chevron striped buckled back waistcoat, that it really suits his taste. Overall was lavishly decorated. With low lighting, it seemed like a very romantic place, perfect for couples and families. Fresh flowers, tasteful artwork, candlelight, classical music, and linen tablecloths and napkins, all of them were soothing his mood.
It didn't take any minute after he spotted the first Elite waiting for him patiently. Although it's just his back that's visible, Travis knew from the beginning that it was him just by his menacing aura. As usual, he's wearing a red checkered t-shirt and normal jeans with his shirt tucked in in front, perfectly fit for his hairstyle that appeared to be a two-block cut.
"So, what's up? Why did you suddenly call me, my dear Emil?" Travis smiled, composedly sitting in front of him with the table gapping in between them, "Or should I say... my lovely first Elite."
Ever since that incident happened in Greg's shop, Travis wondered as to why the first Elite, Emil Jacinto, showed up out of nowhere without any notice. But since Travis was born to be prepared as always, he expected this moment to happen again.
"Finally, you agreed to meet me, Headman," a huge grin coming from the elite, "How was my gift? Did you like it?"
Not so long after, one of the staff approached them to ask what might their order be. "Two mango shakes, please," stated Emil.
Speaking of gifts, Travis immediately grasped the thing he meant. The gift he mentioned was from that moment when the soldiers, policemen, reporters, gathered inside the school to surround his class. Emil was the one who ordered to stop the operation by calling one of the soldiers.
"Oh? Was it yours?" Travis smirked. It arose like there was something on his mind.
"Yeah, it's from me. That bomb attempt causes every soldier to surround your classroom. I was the one who called the lieutenant and stopped the accusation right away."
"Hmm, nice move... but if I were you, that's not what I'm going to do," Travis both crossed his arms and legs to stay composed and confident. He then slouched his back onto the seat. The appearance of the staff carrying two mango shakes in a tray signified that their order has come. After their shakes were placed above their table, the topic they had a while ago continued right away.

"Haha. That's it. That's the headman! So will you tell me what's the proper way to stop the charge?" And for Emil, it also appeared like he was studying every move of Travis using his questions. He's observing what might his next expression be, his physical gestures, his next response, and how far his intellect would get. All of this is so that he could be aware of the person the elites called " The Headman".
"I'd rather not stop the operation otherwise there will be no fun." As expected of Travis's response, Emil was intrigued by him even more. "For example?"
Of course, Travis, the Headman, knew Emil would scrutinize every detail of his stirs, driving him to seek out his flaws. So he decided to let the first Elite have his way. Travis figured that it would be pointless to try to identify his flaws, thus it would be best to just play it out rather than risk letting Emil figure out what he was up to.
"I know they are your men, Emil---those soldiers I mean," Travis started, "As a class teacher and as a Headman, I know everything that happened. For sure my students won't just let it go right away---the way the soldiers held my students, the way they're about to inspect my students' bags without their permission, the way they accused my nephew of being a terrorist. You know... I wonder why there were so many soldiers, policemen, reporters, and everything in there when in fact, the school itself is the evilest place that has been established. I wonder why your men didn't surround the school administrators, and yet you focused more on letting your men surround my students. What does that mean, Emil? Were you not serious with your work?"
Knowing Travis, his reaction could be a little bit far-fetched from Emil's point of view. He had no idea their conversation would turn to this. Although what Travis has stated was all true, Emil still was delighted that he finally get a glimpse of Travis's way of thinking.
"Oh, come on, Headman. I know all of those were part of your plan too. Haha. You're a Headman, right? Of course, you know everything."
"Rather than a plan, it's better to call it a prediction." Travis continued reversing his cards towards the first Elite. But either way, he was a bit stunned that the elite knew that he predicted that whole thing happened.
Gulping, Emil continued, "But hey, didn't you say you will have your successor after ten years? What year is it now? And to think that you're on a den's territory really sucked up my soul, man. Haha. You know that we have our own settlements, right? Me for the military, Lachlan for illegal enterprises, Deniz and Woohyun for school and businesses, and Akari for cooking and fashion design. So why is the Headman in Deniz and Woohyun's settlement?"
Travis then sipped the mango shake. "It doesn't mean if you're the first Elite, then means you will be my successor. That's not how it works according to my principles, Emil. I know how the five of you wanted my position so badly. So, why am I feeding myself in a den's territory, you say?"

Emil then thought that Travis was brutally honest, enough to shake him up. "I-I know you have so many things up your sleeve, but yes of course, please tell me why."
It may not look like it but Travis was enjoying his mango shake while playing minds with Emil. "God might not play dice but he might enjoy board games. Do you know what that means?"
"Hmm, w-well. Either way, I've got nothing to do with that."
His next expression, his physical gestures, his next response, and the extent to which his expression would go, Travis studied Emil in every bit of detail. "I know, Emil. I know. But what you did to my students was truly ungrateful. You called that lieutenant in the first place to make the accusation stop. But I'm not buying that, Emil. You just wanted me to be grateful to you so that I would recommend you to be the Headman. And that thing won't happen."
"What are you blabbing about? That's not my intention at all."
"As a Headman of the five elites, it's time for me to state your punishment. We will meet in the court soon, all right? Or if you don't want to... " And here was what he planned, "... You will have to tell me what do you know about Deniz's plan."
"What? Haha. Are you joking?"
"No, I'm not. You know how I cherish my students so bad. Your smallest mistake will be your lifetime judgment. You will rot in prison, Emil, if you won't tell me."
"Sigh. But that's not enough to make me suffer, you know. The thing about your students, it's just a small fry. The court will just ignore it."
Every law, there's always this status between compatriots that whoever is rich may win everything. And that's how Emil applied it to himself that whoever he may go against, he'd just win it with his status and money.
"I'm afraid they won't. I know what you've been doing for the past years, Emil. I documented every bit of detail you've done so far. As a Headman, I am responsible for your---"
"Haa, how would I believe you?" Even Emil couldn't control his reaction right now. He spoke ill to the Headman.
"You are the one who's responsible for Harold's death, right?"
Those starting words were enough to stiffen Emil up. Even just mentioning that name, he was so sure that it would take enough time to search for the Headman's weaknesses. "Harold Montenegro was your best friend, so you shoulder each other's problems and dreams, right?"
Yet still, even though Travis knew Emil had become nervous, he still continued, "Five years ago, between you two, he was the first one to become the lieutenant general. That's the biggest dream he'd ever wanted to achieve in his life, and so you too. You were just the major general back then, pretty lower than his rank. But out of jealousy, you put drugs on his water to have the higher-ups detect that he's a drug addict, and to handcuff him to court."
Because of those assertions, Emil clenched his fists and reminisced what happened five years ago. He kept silent, trembling on his end that he had no idea how to respond. For he's now unable to think properly, he has unwittingly forgotten his goal: to discover the Headman's flaws.
"Not only that, you ordered some of your men to kill his fiance and leave a shred of fake evidence behind that linked to Harold. So in the end, your best friend was blamed. He couldn't defend even if he hired countless lawyers because YOU have the upper hand. And since the lieutenant-general was now a sinner, the title of him that he really treasures became yours. Months after, he took his own life inside the prison because of hopelessness, despair, and sorrow. How's that possible, Emil?"
Everything Travis had said was not all bluff. A Headman has no reason to lie, and he has no reason to keep it a secret as well. As a Headman, it's his responsibility to take action by using his target's disadvantages and using it in his own game.
"I wrapped up everything just for you so no need to thank me."
All in every minute Emil was silent and continually gritting his teeth, incapable to capture what happened---that he just got exposed by the Headman. Emil was nowhere a kind person. In fact, he approached Travis in the first place because of his selfish aims. Travis was then too sharp to notice everything that he knew he'd enjoy exposing Emil using his overhanded tactics.
"Another issue of yours was the one that came from a little girl named Kelly. She was your niece but you sent her to the hands of human butchers in exchange for 800,000,000 cash."
Since another case of him was exposed again, he had no choice but to feel anxious. What if Travis will report him? What if he'd end up in prison just for this? A lieutenant-general and the first Elite like him should be ashamed if he got exposed in public.
"Want the evidence? Go ask her dead body," added Travis, smirking and enjoying his mango shake.
After a moment of deep thought, Emil had come to his senses and decided to question Travis about the thing he wanted. "What do you want?" He finally thought that there was no way to find his weaknesses this way. Soon will be the time--- the time to discover Travis's flaws properly... only if they'd dig more.
"Simple thing. I mentioned it earlier, Emil. You just have to tell me what do you know about Deniz's plan."
From the very start, all Travis had ever wanted was to dig more information about the CEO, Deniz's plan. Now that Emil had fallen to his trap, the wait is over---he can now finally get what he wanted.
"You know that Deniz is on the move now, right? I came here to tell you that too."
Grinning, Travis stopped sipping on his mango shake. "Then... let me hear what you have to say."

The author suffers from perfectionism and impostor syndrome and therefore attempts to use this as sort of a therapy to break away from perfectionism and self doubt. Basically, the author employs a “I don’t care anymore and screw this trash work” mindset just to get stuff rolling and not set any expectations. Basically, basically, the author just wants to write something and not care about planning and quality and all those nice things about writing a GOOD novel since it’s counterproductive.
