《Knights of Auran》The Call Part 3
Advertisement
Inside the hanger bay, adjacent to the castle, the crew for the Knight’s aircraft were busy at work gathering the necessary items needed for the air ship and the crew with Vinnie monitoring the progress. Rika is directing the traffic of the guards who were bringing in ammo and weapons needed during battle. From the balcony of the hanger, Princess Ayana watches the progress of everything but instead of showing her excitement she instead was concerned, more than that she was worried about how fast everything was coming together. She thinks back years ago when the councilmen approached her about creating a new group of Knights. She was worried then, but she didn’t want to ruin her Father’s legacy. Her train of thoughts were interrupted when she hears to clearing throat of someone not too far from her. She turns around to see Councilman Sete standing at the doorway.
Councilman Sete? What are you doing here? The Princess asks out of curiosity.
I wanted to wish you luck and see you off on your first mission. Your Father would’ve been proud. He replied.
At that response, the Princess looks away doubtful of Sete’s positive reply. The fact that he would compare her to her own Father discouraged her. The councilman notices and looks at her in curiosity.
What seems to be troubling you my Princess? He asks
You say my Father would be proud, but am I ready? I’ve been waiting for this moment to prove my worth. But what if I can’t lead? What if I make mistakes?
The Councilman thinks about what she said. He wanted to help steer her negative thoughts away from the mission. Then he remembered he had something for her. He reaches into his inner pockets of his long garb like rob.
I think I have just the thing for you my Princess.
He takes the item out of his pocket and puts it in the Princess’ hands and closes them. She opened her hands and looks down to see it was a choker, attached to the choker was a round gold brooch. The brooch was decorated with white crystal stones, but in the center of the brooch was a one inch size red gem stone which glistened brighter than the other stones around it. She marveled at the beautiful gift as she has never seen a brooch so gorgeous.
Councilman, its beautiful. She exclaims awing at the gift.
The councilman motioned to the Princess to turn around as he wanted to help put it on her. She gives him the choker and turns around as he places it around her neck.
I wanted to give this to you upon your coronation, but I think now is a good time. It was a gift, from your Father. He said.
The Princess started to well up in tears as she couldn’t believe her Father got her something as wonderful as this. Despite her role as the Princess, she hugs Councilman Sete as she couldn’t help but express her joy over the gift given to her, he in turn embraces her as well, like a father hugging his daughter. Rika arrives to the balcony where the Princess and Councilman were. She calls on the Princess to get her attention. Both the Princess and Councilman stop hugging and face Rika.
Your highness, we’re ready. Rika reports.
The Princess looks at the Councilman and begins to worry, but Councilman smiles at her reassuring her she will be alright.
Go your highness. In honor of the fallen. He said.
He then bows to her and she accepts his gesture. Both Rika and the Princess leave from the balcony and heads to the aircraft where Vinnie and Caleb were already on board. The people outside the hanger have made room for the aircraft to depart. The Princess sits at the captain’s chair watching as her knights prepare for takeoff. The operators from the radio tower contacts them.

This is the radio tower to the Knights of Auran, you have clearance, please proceed to take flight. Announced the operator.
Copy that. Vinnie replied. We have clearance from the tower to take off, commencing count down in T minus 10 seconds.
As Vinnie counts down, Rika notices a flashing button on the control panel as they received a signal from their intercom.
Princess, we have an incoming message, retrieving now. Rika orders as she presses the button to accept the call. In front of the Princess a hologram device comes down from the ceiling of the aircraft and projects a hologram from his head to his shoulders of General De Grandis of Auran’s army.
Greeting your highness, this is General De Grandis. We have orders from the Elders to accompany you and your knight as back up. Stated the General.
Thank you General. The Princess replies. With your help, we can cover more ground. Be careful out there.
The General salutes and the transmission ends. Vinnie finished his countdown and pushed the lever to ignite the thrusters. The aircraft comes to life as the engines ignite power up the thrusters.
We have lift off. Vinnie announces.
The aircraft rises from the floor and moves forward out of the hanger and into the air. As they were flying towards their destination, General De Grandis and his men were on their aircraft following from behind. Princess Anya, gently touches her gift, she looks beside her and sees her reflection from a nearby control deck. She watches as the red gemstone in the center resonates and shimmers. She almost becomes mesmerized by its beauty.
I’ve never seen a stone so beautiful; it almost looks alive. She thinks to herself.
She then realizes that they were heading to something they may never come back from. She thought to herself, if this is to be a gift from her father maybe it’ll bring her good luck. She holds the brooch tight and closes her eyes.
Father, she softly whispers to herself. Knights from the past, if you can hear me, please give us strength. The strength to defeat our foes.
As she continues to softly wish on her brooch, unknown to her, the gemstone in the center brooch begins to softly glow and resonate as if sending a signal. Deep in a temple far from Auran buried in sand a Garnet gemstone, the size of a person’s hand is glowing in the dark as it responds to the Princess’ gemstone from her brooch. The garnet stone then emits a beam of light that shots out from the temple stretching out from the sand, and into the air. Three other temples hidden around their world contained stones of different colors: green, blue, and gold. Just like the garnet stone, they too started glowing in response to the Princess’ brooch and emitted a beam of light which shoots out from their locations and into the sky. The beams of light stretched beyond space itself. The four beams of light merged to become one giant pillar of light which continued to stretch throughout the galaxy.
No! Stay away from me! An injured soldier yells covered in blood from his severe injuries. A ten-year-old Kevin lifts his hand in the air. From that motion, energy shapes like a curved blade comes from out of thin air towards the injured guard and cuts him in half. The soldier’s body falls apart on the ground, blood spraying to the ground. Agent Parker begins to panic as the situation is out of his hands, with Kevin’s Father still in his grip, he drags him back hiding behind his soldiers to protect them both.

Don’t just stand there, shot the boy! Kill him now! He Ordered.
The soldiers replied and begin to fire their weapons at Kevin. Faster than the bullets themselves, Kevin raises his hand towards the bullets. The bullets stopped in front of Kevin, as he was using his energy to stop the bullets in midflight. Kevin raises his other hand, and the bullets began to charge up consumed by Kevin’s energy, turning them into small energy like bullets. As Kevin was using his power the wound from where Kevin had a bullet braze him begins to grow as more of his face begins to crack and peel revealing more of the being of light within.
Disappear. The young Kevin says.
Before he could release those bullet size energy blasts, the present-day teenage Kevin wakes up in a panic screaming. Kevin looks around to see he was in his room, as he sat up, he wipes the cold sweat from his face trying to calm down as his heart was beating fast. He realized what he was about to do in his dream.
What the- what the hell was that just now? A dream? He asked himself.
He sat at the edge of his bed a little calmer now. He brushed back his hair thinking about what he dreamt just now.
Stewart said these aren’t dreams but pieces of my memories that were blocked out. Then Stewart was right I’m-I’m.
Before Kevin could finish, he hears a knock on the door. He looks towards his door to see it begin to open.
Kevin? Is something the matter? His mother asked as she pokes her head into the room to see if Kevin was ok. I heard screaming.
Sorry, I-I had a nightmare. Kevin answers.
His mother walks into the room and sits next to him.
Is something the matter? She asked.
Kevin paused for a second as he was unsure if he should be talking to her about all this. After all Stewart warned him not to trust anyone. But again, this is his Mother, he can’t imagine his family betraying him, nut he must know the truth. He then builds the courage to speak.
Do you remember that night when I was little, when you guys took me to see that Motorbike race? Kevin asked her.
He watches as she thought about his question and looks back on that night. She then chuckles.
Of course I do, she replied. You wouldn’t stop talking about on the way home.
Did something happen, that night? Kevin asked her
That night? She replied.
She thinks back a little more about Kevin’s question. Kevin continues to look at his Mother looking to see if she would react differently, but still nothing. She then remembers something.
Now that I think about it, I remember you had a really bad fall and landed on that curb pretty hard.
His mother reaches out and gently brushes his hair parting it which revealed Kevin’s eye that had the odd birthmark on his Iris. Kevin looks at her unsure of her response.
We honestly thought you were going to lose your sight in that eye. You were so brave. She answered with a grin.
A sense of calm came over Kevin as he sees her smile. Kevin was convinced that he could trust his Mother with his thoughts and feelings.
Mom, I’ve been having these dreams about that night, but its different. He said.
Kevin’s Mother’s smile changes to concern especially when Kevin mentioned that something was different in his dream. She looks at him as his demeanor changes. He looked distress as though he’s been holding his type of grief for a while.
We were attacked. Kevin continued. The advent guard came and separated us. They took you and had Dad and I hostage.
Kevin’s Mother watches Kevin as he rests his hand on his forehead in deep thought.
They were going to hurt us, but I wouldn’t let them. Kevin stated in a serious tone. There was a voice asking me what I wanted most. I wanted to protect, that’s when I started glowing and-
Glowing?! Kevin’s mother interrupts in a chuckle. So, you’re a night light now?
Her chuckle breaks Kevin out of his serious trance. He was surprised to hear his own Mother chuckling at the expense of the situation. He felt that to his Mother this was a joke to her. He then grows frustrated that his Mother didn’t believe him.
I’m serious! Kevin snaps at his mother.
The mother stops chuckling as she was startled to hear her son raise his voice at her. She then realizes this was a serious matter to her son. She could see the fear in his eyes. She watches as he touches the side of his face with the light-colored eye as he thinks about the vision where that side of his face was peeling to reveal the being of light within him.
I think there’s something inside me, something that I can’t control. He softly says. I think I might hurt someone maybe even kill. What if-
Before Kevin could finish his statement, his Mother reaches out and grabs his son’s hand that was touching his face. He wakes from his stressful state to see his Mother holding his hand. He looks at her seeing she was worried for her son.
Kevin, listen to me. She states. Whatever is going on, you don’t have to do this alone. If you feel yourself slipping away, talk to us, let us help you. Do you hear me?
Kevin looks at his mother surprised to what she said. It felt as though maybe she understood what he was trying to get though to her about. She reaches out and kisses him on the forehead.
Now get some sleep, hon. You have a big day tomorrow. She reminded him as she gets up from his bed and heads to the door.
Kevin then realizes that maybe she still doesn’t get it, but he had to know.
Mom, am I human? He asks without hesitation.
His mother stops in place and returns to Kevin. She presses her forehead against his smiling.
You’re a teenager, welcome to life. She replies. She then heads to his door and opens it up.
Night, sweet heart. she softly says.
Night Mom. he replied sounding a little disappointed.
She exists his room while he gets back into bed. As she closed the door, she softly leans against the door concerned about what her son told her. Worried that Kevin is starting to remember things that were meant to be hidden. Something needed to be done and fast. Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the avant guard, late into the night, Stewart was in a wheelchair being pushed by an orderly to his next destination. Stewart no longer was wearing the strait jacket. He was wearing paper scrubs, he was strapped to the wheelchair, with a polyester bag over his head. His hands we bound by an electronic shackle like device. The orderly stops midway as Agent Reynolds meets up with them. He removes the sack over Stewart’s head and gently smiles at Stewart.
Rise and shine Stewart, we have work to do. Agent Reynolds states as he greets him smiling.

A Fractal Divide
Lesivar is a city in ascendancy. With recent innovations in magical crafting, the common people are experiencing a boom in comfort and wealth. The nobility, long used to being the stewards of knowledge and power, struggle to adapt to the new world in which they find themselves. A precarious balance has been maintained throughout, but forces stir beneath the surface threatening to send the city spiraling into chaos. This is my first attempt at writing anything longer than a short story, and I welcome any feedback or corrections. I'm posting this as I write, with each chapter going live upon completion. My current pace is about a chapter a day, which I expect to take my through the end of November. From there, I'm shooting for a chapter every two-three days until the book is completed, along with an editing pass of what is already up. I'm planning on three POV characters with unique insight into the story as it unfolds. Each chapter will contain only one POV. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Changes
Changes is a collection of three stories that take place after the events of Edict. It would benefit the reader to read both Hy'Ruh-ha and Edict. Story one: The Monk and The Princess After a several months break from duty, Soletus, is asked to serve by the Patriarch as an escort to a conference the Brotherhood is attending. The only catch is he's acting as a second warden because someone wants him promoted. All he has to do is be at his best. However, his best is put to the test as he led surly men and then get whisked off to solve a disturbing plot with a determined and bored princess. Notice: Please note, that Soletus, aka main character is asexual. That is part of being a neth elf. This story delves into information about it neth and gets into the neth elf experience a few times in this story. You've been warned. Also note: As much as I didn't want to put it in this story, avoiding it was a futile effort on my part. There were things I needed to explain about Soletus and it's hard to write personal tales about character when avoiding talking about certain personal aspects of them. Story Two: The Sun and Stars - Summary and Date TBA
