《Knights of Auran》The Arrival Part 2
Advertisement
Kevin is traveling through space with the gemstone leading the way as they are heading towards their next destination: the planet Zonia. Unsure about what was happening, Kevin reached out to grab the stone in hopes of taking control. The stone then reacted by glowing bright for a brief second causing Kevin to guard his eyes. When the flash of light disappeared, Kevin watched in amazement as a ghostly figure dressed in knight armor emerged from the gemstone. The figure looked at Kevin as he stood tall in front of him with hair past his shoulders and a chiseled face covered with a finely trimmed beard. He looked like he was in his mid-50s showing some signs of gray in his facial features. Before Kevin could speak, the ghost flew into Kevin’s body and took control.
As the ghost had control of Kevin’s body its reiki energy takes control over Kevin’s reiki amplifying it. The Celtic like markings appeared over Kevin’s body trying to suppress the energy that is amplifying from Kevin’s body. The ghost in control of Kevin opened his left hand and little Celtic symbols appeared on all five digits of Kevin’s fingers. He placed the hand on his chest where his heart was and imitated turning a dial like on a lock. As he turned, each of the symbols would leave a finger and stay whenever he would stop creating a complete circle. When all five symbols were placed, the Celtic like marking that were on his body began to move towards the five symbols as though they were being herded into a round fence as though they were cattle. Once the symbols resided within the circle of symbols, the five symbols connected using reiki energy creating a seal over the markings. Once the seal was complete, the Celtic seal that prevented Kevin from using his reiki powers were temporarily locked giving the ghost complete control of Kevin’s power. Amplified with his own reiki, he quickly builds up the energy absorbing the pillar of light creating a white aura around Kevin. Sensing the combined strength of their power and the pillar of light, the ghost knew he was ready for what he needed to do next as there wasn’t much time. Nearing the planet Zonia, the ghost grabbed the lifeless gemstone and flew with great speed towards his next destination.
Meanwhile the Knights and the general with his remaining ten soldiers were fending off the large herd of Lurkers as they started cornering them leaving no chance of escape. Though they tried to attack the creatures, their bodies were vulnerable and absorbing the blasts from the soldier’s weapons. Those that were in the bodies of the fallen soldiers would only have the host’s body fall apart with each attack or blast. Once the body was damaged the Lurker will come out and continue to attack. A Lurker emerged from the shadows of a nearby soldier and grabbed his foot. Distracted the soldier looked down to see why he couldn’t move only to see a Lurker holding on to him. The sound of metallic shrills were coming closer as other Lurkers were coming in for the kill. The soldier quickly activated his energy shield on his wrist just in time as he was tackled by several Lurkers. The Lurkers were slamming and bashing at the shield while others began to move around the shield as they grabbed him. With too many Lurkers all over him, he watched as they broke through his shield grabbing all parts of his body and pulling. He hollered out in excruciating pain as they started slashing his body tearing him to pieces.

Caleb, from a far, witnessed the slain soldier. He felt terrible as he was too far to save him. In anger, he bashed a Lurker hard in the face with his hammer. The Lurker stepped back to recover from the impact of the blow. Its face plate began to crack, the Lurker panicked trying to keep the plate stable but the plate shattered and the body crumbled falling apart and landed on the ground like a pile of ash. Caleb’s eyes lit up as he remembered the other two that he killed when she blasted their heads with his energy blast. He then realized he discovered how to kill these monsters.
“Guys, go for their face plates!” Caleb Yelled. “Destroy that and you’ll kill them!”
Caleb charged up fusing his reiki energy into his hammer and with it, he ran towards a large group of Lurkers and like a boomerang threw his hammer aiming at the heads of the Lurkers. One after another, their face plates cracked and broke apart killing the Lurkers as their bodies fell apart and crumbled to the ground like piles of ash.
The others watched Caleb’s performance which gave them the confidence that they too can beat them. The soldiers with their weapons fired back aiming for the Lurker’s head while the rest of the Knights infused their weapons with their reiki powers and started to attack head on easily defeating the Lurkers and pushing them back. The Alpha Lurker still in Toby’s body, noticed that the Knights have discovered their weakness. He cried out in their language using metallic shrills and the Lurkers changed their strategy to defense by creating shields from their claws. Each time they were attacked, they quickly blocked with their shields, they would even use themselves as shields to protect each. As a Lurker falls another quickly takes its place and attacks. It wasn’t long till the Lurkers adapted to the Knight’s new strategy pushing back with more force. Realizing that the Lurkers caught on to their plan, the Knights and soldiers were once more being forced into a circle as the Lurkers surrounded them with no way out.
“Protect the Princess!” Ordered Rika.
The Rika and the rest of the knights encircled Princess Anya and the remaining soldiers and their general encircled the knights as the first line of defense. Hidden above the clouds, in their flying aircraft, the master of the Lurkers watched as his loyal creations surrounded our heroes.
He pressed the controls of the camera that was spying on them to zoom in on the Princess who looked frightened at what was happening.
“So ends the legacy of the Knights of Auran.” The Master said in amusement.
The Lurkers moved closer making the protective circle of our heroes smaller. A couple of Lurkers stretched their bodies out like elastic rubber bands towards the soldiers transforming their claws into sharp blades preparing to attack. A couple of soldiers braced themselves using their energy shields but the Lurkers were wise and stretched their arms over their shields and with their blades struck them from behind and like rubber, the Lurkers brought their bodies back bringing the soldiers along with them into the herd of Lurkers. It wasn’t long for the Lurkers to tear the soldiers apart like piranha to flesh. The remaining soldiers filled the space where the fallen soldiers were armed and prepared to defend their comrades at all cost. The Princess couldn’t help but watch her comrades and her fellow soldiers risk their lives for her. She felt ashamed as she couldn’t do the same. She could see the fear and concerns in their eyes as even she could see there was no way out.

“Father, I failed you." She thought to herself. "I let my team down, I let everyone down.”
The Alpha Lurker shrilled as it commanded its subordinated to attack. The Lurkers respond in their metallic shrills as they run towards our heroes.
“Fight till the end!” Rika Commanded.
Rika looked back at Princess Anya and mouthed to her “I’m sorry.” Anya’s eyes began to tear up as she realized this was it. She held her gift tight in her hand which then she remembered her wish. She asked for strength to defeat her foes, if she believed hard enough maybe something would happen.
“No, I have to believe we can still win.” Anya thought to herself. It can’t end like this….somebody, anybody…please save us.”
Just as she finished her thought, the stone from the Princess’ brooch began to glow. The light from her gemstone grew its bright red catching everyone’s attention including the Lurkers. The brighter the light, the more those around her had to guard their eyes from its intense brightness, but the light didn’t affect the Princess.
“Your highness what are you doing?” General De Grandis questioned.
“It’s not me General, it’s the brooch.” She replied.
The stone in the brooch started to heat up, Princess Anya began to feel the heat from the brooch build up as it began to burn her skin; she quickly pulled it off as the brooch was becoming too hot to handle. She released it thinking it would fall to the ground, but the stone came to life and floated in mid-air. The brooch then rose over her head and up into the air. It stopped mid-way and the light from the stone expanded creating a pillar of light around the Soldiers and the knights. As the Lurkers approached the pillar of light, they crashed into it as they couldn’t go through. The pillar had become a barrier preventing the Lurkers from going any further they were banging at it clawing at it, creating sharp weapons and drills to try and penetrate it. The power of the stone was too strong even for the Lurkers. The Knights and the soldiers were surprised and relieved to see they were spared by an item from the Princess.
“By the stars of Erez.” Vinnie muttered as he walked up to the barrier. He touched it feeling the warm soothing vibration of energy but it didn’t hurt or burn. “It’s a force field.”
“Good.” Caleb replied. “Let’s hope it’ll buy us some time till we can figure out how to get out of here.”
Kevin, possessed by the ghost entered the atmosphere of Planet Zonia and continued flying past several countries till he made his way towards the country where Auran resides. He detected the red pillar of light from the ground like a beacon and flew towards it; he stone in his hand began to react as it came back to life as he flew into the red pillar. Both the white gemstone and the red gemstone from the brooch reacted to each other in a harmonious way. The white gem stone flashed overhead creating a loud boom causing everybody to look up. A white pillar of light similar to the red came down and enclosed the Princess from the others.
"Princess!" Yelled Rika as she tried to reach her but like the red barrier she couldn’t penetrate it. The pillar’s light was translucent only showing a silhouette of the Princess who was banging on the pillar trying to get out, but neither her nor anyone can reach each other.
“Come on genius, how do we get her out of here?” Caleb yelled at Vinnie.
"Hell if I know!" Vinnie yelled back. "I don’t know where these barriers came from or why they’re here. I we mess with them who knows what will happen."
The Princess stopped banging on the pillar, she stepped back trying to figure out how to get out of here. She suddenly bumped into something, but it wasn’t the other end of the pillar. She could hear something breathing; feel the warm air down her neck, she realized she wasn’t alone. She quickly turned around to see a man, a young man around her age only a head taller than her own with one sapphire eye and the other a pale light blue with an odd birthmark; it was Kevin still possessed by the ghost. He didn’t look at her, he was looking outwards beyond the pillars of light at the hundreds of Lurkers still trying to break through the red barrier.
"W-who are you?" She asked.
He remained silent still looking at the Lurkers. He stepped towards the edge of the pillar gently moving the Princess aside. She watched in curiosity wondering what he was going to do and for that matter who he was.
“My Princess.” The ghost spoke in both his own and Kevin’s voice. He turned his head to look back at the Princess. “I will protect you.”
On the outside of the Princess’ barrier, the Knights spotted the silhouette of another person as he stood up against the barrier of energy.
"Is that someone else in there with the Princess?" Rika asked. “How did he get in there?”
The Princess, speechless watched as he looked back towards the Lurkers who began to throw themselves against the barrier hoping to break through that way. Kevin placed his hand over his chest like before, and the five symbols appeared still surrounding the celtic like markings. Turning like he did before, he released the five symbols and they transferred over to the pillar of light. The celtic markings slowly began to spread over his body like a clock counting down. He begins to feel his powers weakening as the marking began to conceal the reiki energy once again. He quickly placed his hands on the pillar, his eyes glowing, his aura of reiki building surrounding his body like smoke rising from his body. Kevin channeled the reiki energy within himself, his hair begins to glow light blue, his skin glowing in his own reiki energy. Kevin’s whole being from his body to his clothes began to glow in the color of his reiki. He then channeled his reiki energy into the pillar. The pillar reacts as it begins to glow, the five symbols then also appeared on the red pillar of energy and that pillar began to glow as well. From up in the sky, the master watches in curiosity to what was happening as the lights from both pillars were getting brighter. The knights and the small group of soldiers shielded their eyes. Unknown to them the white pillar expanded now covering the knights and soldiers, but they were not aware as the light was to bright to for them to see. As for the red pillar, overloaded with energy it exploded expanding itself covering the whole area. Now as a weapon the red pillar began to destroy everything in its wake. It began to disintegrate the huts and the Lurkers in large quantities. Though they tried to use shields, the energy from the red pillar still destroyed them, even those who were hiding in the bodies of the dead soldiers. The Alpha Lurker watched as its comrades were being killed and the energy was heading towards him.
Immediately, the alpha and another Lurker hid in the shadows of a nearby rock as the energy blast from the red pillar came to eliminate the rest of the lurkers. The energy from the red pillar dispersed leaving nothing but destruction. The white gemstone begins to hum and the white pillar is absorbed into the gemstone. The gemstone flies away heading to its final destination, the princess’ brooch stops glowing and falls to the ground. The knights and the group of soldiers saw that the light faded and unshielded their eyes to see that not only was the village gone so were the Lurkers; they were once again marveled that they survived.
“They’re gone.” Vinnie said still amazed to what just happened.
“Uh guys.” The Princess called out. “A little help here.”
Everyone remembered the Princess and especially the stranger that was with her. The knights brought out their weapons and turned around ready to attack the stranger that may be harming their Princess. Instead of battle, they see the Princess struggling to keep an unconscious Kevin from falling to the ground.
“He’s not exactly light." The Princess sharply remarked.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
