《Son of Heaven》Chapter 2 - There's Blood

Darren collapsed back onto the driver's seat. I'm just going to chill here till someone takes charge. He thinks with a sigh before taking out his phone.
There was a crack on it but it was still working. No signal… Darren thinks before putting the phone away and looking to the back of the bus.
“You guys good?” Darren asks with a tired voice.
“What the fuck happened?” Another kid says as he gets up while holding his head. He seemed to be a kid from Taylor's school.
“We crashed or something, and we seem to be in some sort of cave.” Darren responds, telling them what he knew, which wasn’t much.
“No shit we crashed. Thanks for enlightening us, Einstein.” A young woman says. She lets out a groan and forces herself up.
Darren chuckles, but doesn’t respond.
A man who looked to be in his twenties got up and dusted off his suit. “Someone has to call the cops.” He says absentmindedly.
“No signal. At least for me.” Darren says from his seat.
The man in the suit took out his phone and checked. “Damn. You’re right. Guess we have to walk out of here.” He says before glancing around at who was there. Darren, another school kid, the young woman, the passed out bus driver, and an older lady, who also seemed to be passed out. “Wake up the bus driver. If he’s bleeding, let me know. I’ll check on the lady.” He says casually before moving to the lady and examining her.
Darren sighs and gets up. He kneels down next to the bus driver and looks at his face. Fuck. There’s blood. He thinks with mild shock. He pushes gently against the man’s shoulder but received no response. Fuck. He thinks, expecting the worst as he puts his fingers on the man’s neck. Fuck. No pulse. Darren thinks before double checking the man’s wrist and receiving no response. Darren lets out a sigh. “I think the driver’s dead.” Darren calls out to the man in the suit.

The man turns around at Darren’s call after shaking the woman awake. “Fuck. That’s messed up.” He says, processing the initial shock. “Alright. Leave him for now. An ambulance will probably come back for him. For now, let’s get the eff out of here.” He says before walking towards the front of the bus.
The others took a moment to process the death before following suit. They certainly didn’t want to be left behind.
“Where the fuck are we?” Darren asks no one in particular as he takes out his phone again to try and shine a light at his surroundings. They really were in a cave. There were stalagmites and everything. But why is there a cave in the middle of the city? He asks himself. This is too effin’ weird. He thinks with an ominous feeling.
The man in the suit sighs. “I have no idea. Let’s just get out of here. C’mon. We seem to have come from that direction.” He says before leading the way forward.
Darren lets out a breath and decides to stop thinking about it. He follows the man along with the others.
After they had left, an insect-like creature reveals itself from behind a rock. It had an ugly face with multiple eyes, six legs, and scythe-like arms.
Its legs scurried forward at a quick pace and climbs up the bus to sniff around the drivers body to check for life. Suddenly it bites down on the driver’s neck and begins to feast. From deeper in the cave other creatures had also smelled blood, and like hunters in the dark, they began to creep closer.

Tellus Stirs (Previously Earth AA)
The year is 2030. Earth is dying. War, pandemics, overwhelming pollution, species going extinct, climate change, etc. The so-called human race has brought more harm to their planet due to greed; their increased energy needs were on a path of decadence even with their increased technological advancements. Tactical Nukes were already used in conflicted zones in the fight for resources. The conclusion was a deep and frightening hum unleashed deep within the earth, heard by every living creature, and with it, civilization has ended. Those who survived wished they were slain along with their loved ones as the dead didn't have to endure what came after. Others took the opportunity to gain unimaginable power and prestige as a new age began. Chaos reigned as per the prophecies foretold in the past. Those who did not believe knew the signs were actual; these prophecies were no longer popular folk tales. Such titles, the Breaking, the Rapture, the Malhama, and many others, came at a high cost. After all, every city or densely populated area had been hit with natural disasters that encompassed tsunamis, Earthquakes, Firestorms, Typhoons, and hurricanes. Power, food, infrastructure. All of it was gone and what came after was worse as humans were no longer top of the food chain. Yet the imminent destruction of the 21st century re-opened a veil that had kept the world safe from hidden dangers, or maybe it was the other way around. Time will tell. In our story, the Protagonist rises from the ashes of the apocalypse. A desert child soldier nurtured by tragedy and death looking for an escape to fill the void in his heart. By chance, in his hand, he held a blade with immense possibilities.
