《Daydream of Gods》39: Flood: "Vicious star"

Oliver looked at the battle taking place before him and couldn’t help but think, {what is wrong with the nature in this world, was the one who made it drunk or high…. or both}.
In front of him something that looked like a combination between a cat, a dog and a horse, was fighting green skinned people with different insectoid parts and antennas on their heads.
Weird, would be the best way to describe it.
The fight however wouldn’t be so strange if the dog hybrid didn’t look half-undead with bones and pieces of meat visible on the whole body, which wasn’t a result of this fight.
Oliver moved to the side.
“BAM”
One of the guards crashed on the ground next to him, making it crack as if it was hit with a metal ball.
Oliver stretched his hand to the guard.
The Guard took it with a pained expression on his face, as he got up he spat blood on the ground and wiped his bloody mouth with the sleeve of his clothing, he had no outside injury but from the impact just now one or two of his organs were probably damaged.
This however didn’t seem to make the guard lose his manners.
Guard ”Thank you”
Oliver nodded.
Oliver ”do you want some help”
The guard looked at his captain, but Migras shook his head.
He knew that Oliver was strong but he was the protector of this city not him, what would the people think if their guards needed a help from a hunter to handle a single animal, the reputation which brought comfort to the people was difficult to build but easy to fall and Migrass knew it.
Before Migrass could think further, a large paw hit his body sending him rolling like a billiard boll hit by cue, the scene looked almost comical.
Oliver walked next to Migrass who made a dent in the wall of a building with his body.
Oliver ”are you sure”
Before Oliver could even finish his sentence, Migras shot forward and aimed at the animal neck with a blood shot eyes.
Oliver shook his head, it was good to be able to handle things by yourself and Migrass had been doing so till now but unless something happened this battle didn’t look favorable to the guards.
The animal was surrounded but the combination of a cat, a dog, and a horse looking like undead creature from video games, even though it didn’t look too treating on first look, was difficult to deal with.
That hybrid was slightly bigger than a horse, its body wasn’t very big but was scarily agile, combined with the movements and nails of a cat, and the endurance of a dog and a horse and it was obvious that it wasn’t weak.
The bull like creature in the morning couldn’t even hold a candle to the current one.
Knowing how the situation was going to developing Oliver summoned his weapon.
He waited for the creature to focus only on the guards not minding the rest of its surrounding and shot forward, he spun like a drill and activated the water saw, even if its base power wasn’t too strong it was still better with it than without it, he precisely aimed at the neck of the creature.
“SWISH”
“TUD”
A beautiful slash severed the neck Migras had been aiming for not too long ago.
The head on the animal fell on the ground, followed by the falling of the headless body.
After landing Oliver turned around and faced Migras, the man had an obvious look of disapprovement on his face but still didn’t say anything, after all he knew how the situation might have developed even thou it wasn’t certain, the chances were 50/50 in his opinion.

Oliver laughed and walked forward.
He patted Migrass on the shoulder, and headed towards the restaurant.
Oliver ”The tab is on you”
Migrass took a look around, there was no serious damage to anything in the surrounding which made him let a sigh of relieve.
He bit his lip, would the result have been the same if Oliver hadn’t intervened…he needed to train more.
After Migras walked inside and sat on his chair in front of the bar he turned to look at Oliver.
His face showed complicated emotions.
Migras” thank you for the help ”
Oliver didn’t turn to look at him, but was actually quite satisfied with this kid, he thought about giving him a few pointers before leaving this town with Flood.
Oliver ”no problem”
Oliver ”anyway I have to say something, wouldn’t it be better if you build a wall, two attacks in a single day, how do you even handle this”
This was something even Oliver wondered about, this city didn’t seem to have a lot of peace contrary to his first impression and the guards couldn’t be everywhere all the time, death civilians and destruction was inevitable in such cases.
Not to mention the immense stress they should be feeling, even if they take turns 24 hours constant danger is just too much for a long period of time, even for Oliver.
Migrass shook his head in denial.
Migrass” that is actually worse, long before I was born the people tried it, they build strong walls with several outer layers of defense around the city, but that led to one of the biggest waves of animal, since they couldn’t get inside the city, they stayed outside till a huge group was formed, then they stormed the wall, the animals walked over the corpses of other animals and manage to get inside, this lead to one of the biggest tragedies in this town history”
Oliver didn’t say anything, the creatures here were just too vicious, there wasn’t doubt about it.
Oliver” but still, two attacks per day , aint it a bit much”
Migras looked at his drink as if he was deep in thought.
Migras” actually it usually is one attack in 2 to 3 days, but lately it has been increasing, we are thinking of sending a squad to investigate, something must be going on we just don’t know the reason yet, things would improve if we settle it”
Hearing this Olives got suspicious, he couldn’t help but think about the typical manga development in such situations, the mc just arrived in town, a sudden problem appears, then the investigation squad disappears and then some mastermind would appear to be behind it all, only to be crushed by the aforementioned mc, a cliché found in almost every story.
Only, this was their reality, not a story.
Oliver ”do you think a person is doing this”
Migras turned to look at him like he was looking at fool.
Seeing the confused expression on Oliver, Migras clarified.
Migras”do you think that if it was possible to control the animals and monsters, let alone this small town, the whole Water kingdom would be in the situation it is in”
Suddenly a realization downed on Oliver, the biggest threat to the intelligent species was no doubt animals and monsters, if controlling them was really possible the human species wouldn’t be constantly suffering from the attacks.
But Olive just couldn’t shake the feeling of foreboding, of course that shouldn’t be taken the wrong way, he wast afraid, it was completely the opposite he welcomed it.
But he still didn’t want to see the people of this town die for no reason.

Oliver ”do you think that it will be save checking things out”
The moment he finished, he realized how foolish that question was, coming from someone like him it was even ironic.
Migras”of course it wont, but that’s out job either way, cheers”
Oliver and Migras touched their glasses, and drank them down.
Migras face instantly darkened.
Migras ”pfew, phew”
Migras almost spat the liquid back out which made the serious atmosphere disappear instantly, making Oliver laugh.
After a few hours they parted ways.
The next day Oliver woke up early in the morning with a wide smile plastered on his face.
A creature of legend, a general and lord level rank, which would need at least a strong silver knife to deal with it.
Actually Oliver was much stronger than silver rank, the washer he defeated was in the upper ranks of king level rank, but it was already unprecedented for a silver knife to be given to a hunter who just signed.
Oliver actually knew that there was a little chance of him having difficulties dealing with a single minotaur but they still shouldn’t be underestimated, unlike the washer who usually moved alone they moved in groups.
Actually minotaures were recognized as a half-human, or demi-humans, and they even have their own kingdom in the Water Kingdom, but that didn’t count for all, the minataures which killed, pillaged, and abused humans were recognized as another species all together, named “wild minotaurs”.
There was even animosity towards this kingdom since there was basically no outer difference between the two groups, the only difference was their intellect, wild minotaurs, compared to the other minotaures had much lower intelligence and were more ferocious, with their actions hurting the image of the intelligent minotaures, the two parties could be considered almost mortal enemies, even if the less intelligent “Wild Minataures” didn’t know it.
But anyway, Oliver wasn’t one to care about such things too much, just fighting this creature which only existed in myths and legends in his old world really made his blood get exited, as for not fighting them one on one, he didn’t care there was no such thing as honorable fight in the first place, this was just him slaying what he wanted to slay noting more noting less, on second thought since he took a quest for them it was more, they were living breathing money bags, now who could you say no to that.
After exiting the city Oliver looked around and started to head dipper into the forest.
Nobody would let such a dangerous species live close by.
He continued to walk dipper and dipper, thankfully he had bought a map and had gathered intel yesterday so he knew what he was looking for or it would have depended entirely on luck.
While walking Oliver couldn’t help but admire the forest, there were trees that had a light blue glow, plants with many different forms, flowers which gave delicate but fresh aroma and had unique colors like the ice white flower left of him, the were even some violet mushrooms which also looked beautiful but gave a feeling that if eaten, would send even the giant whale he fought not long ago at dead doorstep.
Oliver wasn’t a fool, he had a lot of jungle experience in his old world, and there was one golden rule to keep you safe, “don’t touch”, a beautiful flower, have you heard of Hogweed, they looked good on the outside but touching them is not recommended, unless you are some master masochist you wont enjoy the feeling, a beautiful looking tree, yea don’t touch that either or you might just wonder why your hand is missing, and yes this was a real three in this world, a “Greenrelease”, the name might sound strange but that is cause “release”, means it would release you of the possession of any body part that touches it.
So yea, when you are in an unknown place, the “don’t touch rule” can save you a lot of pain.
While thinking of his past experiences, Oliver noticed something and stopped, he took out a picture and compared it to the flower in front of him.
It had dark grape color with star shaped top, it gave a dangerous but attractive feeling like enticing devil.
This flower worked similar to narcotics and could send you to heaven, if you don’t die from the overdose that is, cause that plant is highly poisonous.
It was true to its name “vicious star”, this plant coundnt be found in many place as they were destroyed on sight, but that counted for dipper in the kingdoms, since some people took advantage of them and almost caused one of the four big kingdoms, the Kingdom of Earth to be destroyed, since then all kingdoms banned them.
It was normal to find them however on the border between the four major kingdoms and the further world.
Oliver quickly found a place to hide and prepared for an ambush, this flower gave a pleasant smell which always attracted beasts it was also the favorite snack of the Minotaurs.
He kept hiding for 10 minutes, 20 minutes,30 minutes, he started to wonder how low of an intelligence did the minotaurs have if they couldn’t find it till now.
That flower gave a smell which only beasts could smell even if not minotaurs something should have come by now, was this really the place in which two animals attacked the city in the same day, regardless he continued to wait, a good hunter was a patient person.
An hour later his patience finally gave result, he immediately summoned his halberd and got ready to dash forward just to take his frustration on the pitiful animal that didn’t seem to have a lot of luck today.
When the animal got close Oliver happily discovered it was a minotaur but what made him even more happy was that there were at least 10 of them, those creatures twice his size wielded huge three branches as weapons.
But when he looked closer his face hardened, there were several different animals with the minotaurs, { something is definitely wrong here, since when to monsters work with each other}.
However he didn’t wait for long before finding something even stranger, the group gave path to an individual who walked forward with large steps seemingly not afraid of anything.
Which was quite contradictory to the reaction other people would have when surrounded but such a group.
After seeing his face Oliver expression relaxed a little, this dude …. didn’t look even remotely scary, or strong.
Yes a dude who looked so much like a third-rate villain that if there was competition for it, he would be exactly in the middle of the ranking, as the beasts around him made a path for him, he started to carefully pluck the “vicious star” in the field before him.
Seeing this Oliver who had read quite a few fantasy novels nodded with satisfaction.
A light smile was plastered on his face
Oliver “that settles it, I should kill him.”

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.
