《Legacy of Earth》Chapter 21 – Time to head out

Alon looked at the three Saber hilts placed inside a briefcase that Tsuna had prepared as it was now time for Alon to choose his Saber which Tsuna and Dain had personally made for Alon's preference based on their training sessions with him. Today is the time for Alon to finally select his sabre, not only had he earned his keep as an operator for the Memento Mori but also is well trained enough to wield a Saber for combat.
"Take your time, choosing a Saber can be a daunting task," Dain reassured him as Alon took a sigh. It wasn't just the aesthetic design that made the choices difficult, it was the function of each sabre, all three were designed by both Dain and Tsuna but all of them have their function.
The first one was a simple single blade with a nice silver and black hilt similar to the one that Tsuna used. The Second was a gold Saber staff where both ends would ignite similar to the one that Dain had wielded. And Finally, the Third was a dark blue three-pronged hilt with the two others forming a crossguard.
"I'll take this one," Alon said igniting the third sabre igniting as it released a Dark Blue and Aquamarine blade as he swung around and it was surprisingly heavy like an actual sword. "Way different from the training Sabers you handed me," Alon commented in a low voice as he deactivated his sabre.
"You'll get used to it," Tsuna said as Dain walked away while Tsuna ignited his sabre. "Let's give it a test run."
"You sure what if I get cut up into pieces?" Alon asked slightly panicked, he had seen the two fight with their sabres on and it was clear that they had trained for this.
"Compared to getting killed in action I'd say friendly dismemberment is a plus one," Tsuna said as, behind Alon, Dain ignited his sabre staff both of them have this amused look on their faces as they began to circle Alon.
"You two are going to enjoy this aren't you?" Alon asked as he reluctantly ignited his sabre once more.
"Think of it as Hazing," Tsuna said being the first one to make the first move as he swung his sabre in a high arc as Alon blocked it on his own, causing sparks to fly from the two but Alon in a panic moved to the side hoping that Tsuna would be thrown to the side due to the added weigh on that swing. Alon then turned his focus on Dain who had just been casually spinning his Saberstaff waiting for Alon's next move. But before Alon and Dain could spar for their next move the ship's alarms began to blare out.
"Time for work," Alon said deactivating his sabre as the three sprinted out of them while the Luna Sea lurched once again nearly throwing him off balance.

It had been days since Memento Mori had finally declared their stance toward the wider galaxy
Weeks since the Assault of the Vasi Sakti.
Months since the Battle over Venus and a year since he and his family had finally joined the ranks of the Memento Mori.
And since then he had more or less accepted into the role of Naga, the Serpent of Venus and had come into his own for it. But that made his life any less difficult, they were still moving from one corner into the Galaxy after another as they continued to stage operations to weaken the two major powers even now as the two nations had declared a temporary three years while maintaining any of the territories that they have acquired over the years.
It was also thanks to their declaration that a new force had been on the rise known as the Inferno Wing has been formed. On paper, they are a Civilian Militia that was formed to not only ensure the safety of the Neutral Worlds, especially those who were tired from the prologued war between the major powers. But in reality, the Inferno Wing is nothing more than a joint effort funded by the Principality and the Sovereign made by the powers to not only keep Memento Mori in check but to eradicate them as a whole one can easily figure out that is the case as instead of being fitted with the same stolen or used Mechs and ships such as the T.S.C. or the Istar-Zuhayir they are equipped with the best and top of the line weapons from both sides of the War.
"Must be them again," Alon said as he put on his suit and found Marina already climbing into the L.A.M.I.A. which was now combined into the ReZio and is ready for combat.
"They're becoming less of a threat and more annoying these days," Marina commented as Alon started the ReZio. Besides them, the Ame-No was now getting ready for launch also.
To ensure the safety and the reach of Memento Mori, Hayato had the Reckoning, Sunrise, and Kusanagi sent away intending to conduct operations while the Luna Sea would have to remain on the run as such they are ill equipped to properly stage a counterattack against Inferno Wing forces.
"We can't keep running away like this," Alon said as they launched out. It was the same standard of Mechs launched after them which comprised of a series of heavily modified Kataphracts and Knights that had the same black and red colour scheme of Inferno Wing.
Alon and Tsuna had gotten used to dealing with them that they could easily take them down with ease but both of them agreed that for the sake of making sure that they are not outed as murderers they wouldn't kill any members of Inferno Wing, so the two would just rely on disabling them in any way possible.

While it's still as dangerous, the idea of them spending time doing nothing but targeting their optics and limbs was borderline monotonous. It helps that they are nothing more than rookie pilots equipped with a set of high-quality weapons.
"You know the drill, take them out as soon as we can," Tsuna said who was just as equally bored as Alon was as he aimed his Beam Sniper and began to open fire at the incoming Knights and shot them down aiming or their respective optics meanwhile Alon closed in the gap between them and proceeded to cut their limbs apart without leaving any fatal damages onto it. God this is tiring, Alon sighed as the enemy released a withdraw flare as the two of them returned to the Luna Sea and the two landed without any issue.
"Maybe you shouldn't have joined in the fighting earlier," Alon turned to Marina who climbed out of the L.A.M.I.A. "I mean the ReZio is fast enough to take those on their own."
"Yeah I was about to say maybe I should sit the next one out given how it's just them," Marina shrugged while Tsuna walked out of the Ame-No with a yawn.
"We can't just keep staying like this, what if they corner us for good," Alon told Tsuna. It was a possibility that even the captains of the other ships expressed worry. If they were cornered and worse destroyed in combat then it's over in general.
"I brought that up to Dain earlier," Tsuna said taking Alon by surprise. Using their birth names was always discouraged after all so for Tsuna to refer to him on a first name basis meant something had gone down earlier.
"We'll be waiting for any confirmation from Memento Mori and the others but for now try and get some rest." Tsuna sighed as he walked off.
"I guess we all have some rough days," Marina told him with a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Let's just hope that things don't get any worse from here."
[Legacy of Earth]
Alon looked at his Saber with a solemn look on his face as he placed it in a bag which only contained a handful of his clothes. Due to the current circumstances on hand, they are all given the orders to go into temporary hiding in various locations across the galaxy as such, he and Marina have to relocate to Mars once again while their Parents relocate to a space colony and all of them will need to go on different names and identities.
"Well I expected this to happen," Alon commented as he finished packing his bags and then grabbed a handgun as a precaution. He heard a knock on his door revealing it to be Dain with his arms crossed.
"You got everything sorted out?" He asked him.
"Yeah I got everything prepared," Alon answered, there was an unwritten agreement within all of them that they would refrain from disclosing any information on where they were going. So in the event of one of them being captured for information, they can freely admit that they truly don't know the whereabouts of their comrades. Well at least for everyone, Alon and Marina they agreed to both leave at the same time while their parents would stay on the ship alongside the rest of the crew.
Though that didn't stop Alon from being curious about where the others are going.
"What happened between you and Tsuna earlier?" Alon asked changing the subject, it was a tense topic but he was curious. Not to mention Alon had been around long enough that he should be able to learn the inner politics of the organization.
"You heard about it?"
"Intuition, you two were always good friends so it came as a surprise that he's a bit frosty about you."
"That's because I was against the whole scattering of the Crew," Alon stopped preparing his belongings and looked at Dain. "We could easily fight back the Inferno Wing but Memento, no Hayato, had us scattered so if we split apart like this even more then we'll no doubt end up as dead like rats."
"Then, what do you propose we do?" Alon asked as Dain took a step back as the question was more confrontational than he had initially wanted to. "Should we have just gone straight up against Inferno Wing?"
"We can take them," Dain said without hesitation. "We have—"
"I've heard enough," Alon sighed as he lugged his bag over his shoulder, it was clear that Dain was just as delusional as Hayato. Confident that they can handle not only Inferno Wing but also fight against two major powers, obviously blind to their hubris.
"I'm sorry Dain but I have doubts we can face them on," Alon said as he walked out of the hallways and made his way into the hangar where the others are waiting for him as well. I need to end my job here while my family is still alive, Alon pondered with a disappointed sigh. For as long as they follow this kind of mindset then it's only a matter of time before they would be unable to face their enemies.

Live by the Sword
--Follow a bandit prone to making poor choices in life. He lives in a somewhat medieval age where steel is king, blood is shed fairly lightly, and weakness gets you punished fast. But that's okay. As long as he has his sword, he'll be fine. Right? --This story is tragic and contains some depictions of violence and nudity. The attitudes of the characters don't represent my views and some of them are highly questionable. Due to these reasons, I've flagged the story as adult content. --I've been working on Live by the Sword since as far back as 2012 and it is my first actual effort at completing a book. Maybe I'll stick with it and there will be paperbacks of it some day. Who knows. Either way, I hope the words I tell give you amusement and perhaps some cause to think. Cheers.

I Am Not A Humanity's Traitor (Isekai LitRPG)
Ren is a reincarnated person. His new world had the same name as his old one, Earth. But that was the extent of the resemblances. Ren has a skill as well, or at least he was told he did, but he had no inkling of how to use it. He was disheartened at first but his goal wasn't the path to power, all he wanted from this world was to continue the peaceful life, but the world didn't even provide him with that. A luminous pillar descended upon him and one of his classmates. Goddess Helastia, one of the most revered goddess, called them to herself, probably not a good news. However, there, he finds that a group of heroes has been summoned from his past world to confront the Devils that will be rising soon. But contrary to his assumption of being a hero himself, she referred to him as a reincarnated imposter. She labeled both of them as Humanity's Traitors and sends them into a dungeon where they were supposed to live. That is, with their masters and comrades, the Devils and their minions. The monsters in the dungeon were not likely to accept them as allies, instead, they were out to devour the delicacies that appeared in their home.
