《Phantom Year one》Oteng Family pt4

The four finally managed to take cover firing a few shots hoping they hit him but to no avail. “
“How did he even get here in the first place?” Becca asked the question that was on everyone’s mind, as there were only two ways in and out of here the hole they made in the vault and the alley where they had parked their van. As they thought further into the situation a horrid idea flashed through their minds, “What did you do to my son, you caped freak!”
The mother screamed.
With that scream, she got out of her hiding spot. Taking of her mask she fired into the cloud of steam with her anger clearly evident on her face. The screams of her family as they tried to get her to retreat were drowned by the continuous gunfire resounding from her gun.
“Answer me!” she screamed as she kept moving forward. The Phantom appeared, quicker than she could react and performed a flip. Flying upside down he yanked the gun out of her hand before pushing of her back and jumping towards the others.
The others hearing the groan from the mother rushed out of their spots to help, as the stood Phantom landed right behind them closing the distance. Becca was the fastest to turn around trying to shoot at the Phantom but was stopped halfway by the phantom grabbing the gun and slamming t towards her chest sending her tumbling into her brother and into the ground.
Alex didn’t miss a beat firing at the Phantom but the phantom moved away causing the bullets to miss and break a pipe behind him causing another burst of steam to rush out. Before Alex could get his bearing the Phantom disarmed him and delivered a straight and heavy hit to his gut and knocking the wind out of him.

Down on his knees Alex ripped of his mask and glared at the Phantom who stood looking down at him indifferently, “why?! We were done and home free! Why? Just why?!” Alex screamed as he made it back to his feet. He rushed at the Phantom exchanging blows with him, he moved to deliver a right hook but The phantom grabbed his arm and put him in a lock sending half his face directly to the pipe where the steam was rushing out and burning half his face off.
The ghastly screams of pain that escaped his mouth caused Becca and Kwesi to rush the phantom and free their father who dropped to the ground taking in deep breaths as he moved his hand to his face which had half burnt off.
The siblings tried to take the phantom down in hand-to-hand combat, Kwesi’s lack of combat skills became apparent in but a minute as he was knocked out with a knife left in his left thigh, leaving but Becca who was frustrated as she realized she was no match for the opponent before her. In a last-ditch attempt to take down the Phantom she attempted a wide swing but the Phantom just ducked grabbed her and run straight at a wall, as the back of her head made contact with the wall she was out.
The Phantom stood looking over her body when he heard the clocking of a gun, *shwip* wasting no time he fired a throwing knife at the source before turning to look. As he turned around he saw the mother who dropped the gun in her hand as her hands moved to the side of her neck.
She parted her lips in an attempt to speak but all that flowed out was her blood, a thud was heard as she fell to the ground with a knife embedded in her neck. “Millie!” Alex screamed, fighting through the pain going over to his wife’s side trying to reassure her, unsure of what to do as he watched his beloved bleed out before him.

The Phantom attempted the move in to take out Alex as well but was interrupted by Ferdinand’s voice in his ear warning him of the near countless officers rushing straight for his direction, looking back he caught the beams of light that were coming straight for him.

A bright flash of light appeared suddenly causing Jarred and the other officers behind his to close their eyes for a few seconds when they opened their eyes they were stunned by the scene before them. The money was somehow tied to the ceiling above them and two of the robbers were sprawled out unconscious on the floor before them.
Jarred moved a bit forward when he saw Alex kneeling before his wife with half his face burnt of and tears running down his face. “I need a medic down here!” Jarred called out into his radio as he moved in for a closer look as he dd so he noticed the pool of blood as well as the knife in the neck.
The knife was one he knew all to well, and how could he not, this knife was exactly like the ones his partner kept showing him. Jarred thought back to the bright flash earlier on and realized the Phantom was responsible for that and all this and they had literally missed the guy by a second.
He moved his hand to his forehead in frustration when he looked down once more and noticed Alex hands which held on tightly to his wife’s hand.
In Lakeside city General.
Naa sat in a lobby completely lost in her thought when a familiar voice was heard, pulling her out of her mind. Looking to the source she saw Jarred standing right by her, “I said how is he?” “I don’t know, they won’t tell me anything, but his family is here” Naa motioned to a group of people seated a bit farther away.
Jarred took a look at the people who had worry written all over their face, before turning back to Naa. “Two of the robbers are headed to jail, two were rushed over here with one having half his face burnt off… one was sent to the morgue. The doctors think the other robber has a strong chance of making it” Naa remained unresponsive to his words, after a pause Jarred spoke again “It was the phantom, he caught them.”
“Hmm” Naa finally responded after hearing that, Jarred look to her arms which were covered in dried blood. “You really should wash that off”.

In the bunker Hank came in and saw Ferdinand standing there and watching him with a scowl, “what?” Hank asked as he proceeded to take off his suit, “you killed her”.
“If I didn’t, she would have killed me”
“Is that why you broke almost all of the kid’s ribs”
“…”
“He was just a kid!”
“No, he wasn’t! he helped his family rob countless banks and just recently they killed an officer and even tried to kill you, don’t forget that!” Hank took a few steps now standing mere inches away from Ferdinand. “Don’t look so shocked, you knew how I did things when you came to me. You asked for my help and this… this is how my help looks like.”
Ferdinand remained silent staring Hank in the eye for a minute before walking away leaving Hank alone in the bunker.

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

Journey of Infinite Steps
Science Fiction/ Low fantasy Iliad. Oliver just wanted a job that could keep his family fed, and himself sane. Was that so much to ask for? Apparently. As he instead ends up facing monsters and dodging his way to another world instead. Competent as he views himself figuring out how to reopen a portal back home by himself is defiantly above his knowledge base. Of coarse it would be vastly simpler if he could keep 'getting back home' as his primary goal. 'Staying alive' is unfortunately a far more immediate and relevant goal. I will post any content warnings on a Per Chapter basis. Divisive content will be as skip-able as I can reasonably manage Discord Link will be available for those interested in assisting editing/ coauthoring. Especially character writers/those willing to work out the math/ economies and world building even if only as a wall to bounce ideas off of.-----Full Synapsis contains serious spoilers----- Looking to take care of his family, Oliver finds himself flung into a faraway place. Try as he might, his Iliad will not be simple or peaceful as he'd like. Alas the slow and unending war of Chaos and Order has long memories and longer reach. If Oliver is to make his way back home it looks like He'll have to solve the universe one fight and mystery at a time. Especially as the Laws of Physics shift, often on a per world basis. Hopefully there is still a home to come back to.

Hinterland
Simon sincerely believed he was saving Morgan's life when he pushed her off the second-story roof of her family farmhouse. To be fair, his mother was burning it to the ground at the time. But Morgan Mumford, a lonely outcast with a chip on her shoulder and a full skeleton of remarkably unbroken bones, is not particularly convinced of his good intentions. Because the instant he pushed her over Simon also whisked Morgan into the realm of Hinterland: a shadowy world that is a perfect replica of their home town of Coching. But Hinterland is a hungry and dangerous place, where ordinary objects have taken on a life of their own. In Hinterland you might be ambushed by a gang of motorcycles or eaten alive by a duplex. And by god, you run from scissors. Morgan is now trapped in this hostile realm, unable to find a way home. Hunted relentlessly by Aqualung, an evil-minded Buick Skylark with a love for Jethro Tull and hatred for all things on two legs, she is forced to join a ragtag band of fellow castaways to ensure her survival. But the embittered leader of these children has plans of his own, and before long Morgan finds herself swept into his vendetta against Hinterland's imperious ruler: Simon's mother, who commands the living, breathing town to do her bidding and schemes to transform it into something worse than it is now. Something ravenous. It's time for Morgan to decide whether to ditch her new allies and find her own way out of the belly of the beast, or stay and help her fellow outcasts weather the violent feud that brews on the horizon.
