《Fortuna Sands》EXCERPT 1-5: PASSIVE SKILLS
Advertisement
There are many skills that can be bought or sold in Fortuna Sands, but there is only one type of skill that cannot be bought but earned through either through learning or sheer happenstance. These are called passive skills, and unlike active skills that can be turned on by certain motions or thought these once can only be activated through certain conditions. To explain these circumstances, we must understand how the system of Fortuna Sands works at an antique level.
When utilizing the Tyche Engine, though, it broke up into two speeds of gaming known as real time (RT) and inert time (IT). When you move, play or do anything that requires physical thought, you are acting in real time, meaning what you do in the game is made possible in reality, meaning as time passes in game, it passes in reality. When using inert time, a human brain can travel at the speed of thought, creating the simulation of time standing still making it possible to perform actions in the span of nano seconds before time resumes its residual course. So, if you were to throw a punch in real time, a nanosecond between the punch made contact would give you minutes to think about your next move depending on the settings of the game.
Fortuna Sands uses a unique system known as the Lucky Draw, which uses inert time to allow the player to know that they can perform a certain number of actions with the utmost certainty of success or failure. Passive skills may only be used in IT as a way to supplement probability of an outcome by creating to alter the odds and omit failure but only if the resources are available through a player’s thoughts or actions. To many critics this seems like cheating, but “it is merely the human mind function at its fullest potential,” says E-Dice Corporation.

According to certain interest groups “the technology exceeds the human mind’s capability to differentiate between reality and fantasy.” While this may have been the leading cause of Double Life Syndrome, it has been assured that the Tyche Engine is now safer and more secure. Whatever the risks, the rewards that Fortuna Sands has to offer has made it as popular as it is controversial for its unique theme and development.
