《djinn's child》chapter 4: morning and lessons

As I woke up after a long nights sleep I couldn't stop smiling as I left the tent. "good morning sleeping beauty" Doran said while cooking in a pot. "hello what are you cooking?" I said as I sat next to Doran. "a good old dish of mold stew" he said pouring me a bowl "it sounds... delouses..." I said pinching my nose trying not to smell the mold stew.
"it is I had this for most of my existents" he said blowing a spoon full of stew. "Can I make something please this is a little um outdated" I said as I put down the bowl to get up. "what do you mean I had this like 1000 years ago this should still be good" he said while looking at me "please ill show you what's good to eat now" I said as I dragged the iron boar to the pot. "alright I trust you I guess" he said as he got up and stepped back.
I picked up the spear that Doran gave me. I rolled up my sleeves and cut the legs of the boar. I plucked out all the needles of the boar. "can I keep these needles as weapons for later?" I asked looking at Doran as I pointed them at him "yeah you may get a new mark to so sure" he said handing me a belt to hold the needles. " great ill finish the food up real quick" I said while putting on the belt and put the needles in the belt. I began to skin the boar legs and covers the legs in a light oil.
I slowly added the boar leg to a mix of water mushrooms. I began to stir the stew and cover the meat in the sauce . I held two legs over the fire and spun the meat around to cook all the sides evenly. "hey Doran its done come try some" I said to Doran holding out one of the legs for him to take it. "alright I can't wait to try the food of this time" he said grabbing the boar leg.
we sat down I bit into the leg it was a little over cooked and bland. "I'm sorry the meat didn't turn out very good to be honest" I said as I saw him eating the meat smiling enjoying the meat. "what do you mean this is the best food I ever had" he said looking at me with a smile. " thank you but I will make you a real meal so you can have a good meal of this time" I said as we finished our meals. "there's no need but for this meal I'll give you a lesson" he said as he walked into the field where I fought the boars. "watch carefully alright and don't come closer" Doran said as 3 mist wolves came out of the forest and surrounded Doran.
As the wolves lunged at Doran I saw his hand flow past the one of the wolves and spun on the tips of his feet and leaned down and dodge the wolves. The wolves turned to mist and reappeared to try and bite him but Doran jumped up and swung his hand at it almost hit the wolves. As time passed he kept dodging them with just the tip of his feet his hands had the chance to hit the wolves each time. It looked like a dance that was practiced for hours and I understood what he was teaching me. "I understand!" I yield so he can stop.

I saw him nod at me he waved his hand and the same wind that blew the last mist wolf blew the three wolves away. I saw the wolves go over the mountain. "well you understood what I was doing quickly" he said as he sat down in front of me. " yes thank you for teaching me how to use the spear more efficiently" I said as I sat down as well. "it was a quick lesson well we better get going to that town to get you registered" as he made the camp where we spent the night disappear. "alright well how far is it from here" I said hoping we cam look at the city. " it should take maybe half an hour" he said as he looked at his wrist.
"well are you ready Doran i cant wait to see the city" I said as I jumped up to get going. "calm down little Caz we got to cover some stuff before we get there" as he pointed at the ground. "well what do we have to cover" I said as I sat down on a rock. "first off age you can say your age but you will say I'm in my early thirties like thirty two alright" he said while pointing at my head. "yes I understand is there anything else" I asked trying to make sure to remember. "second thing is the markings make sure you don't show them to anyone alright" he said as he made his marks disappear. "alright that should be easy" I said as I rolled down my sleeves. "third thing we need to have the same last name I think the name of my kind should work" he said while looking up at the sky. "alright so my name is Cazlid Djinn" I said thinking that the name wasn't to bad. "finally we do not go near any churches I'm not on good terms with the churches but I was called something else but still" Doran said as he clenched his fists. "alright i wont ask you why I trust you" I said with a smile on my face.
"thank you Cazlid that makes me happy" he said with a smile while looking at me. "well lets get going lead the way" I said as I got back up. "alright lets go little Caz" Doran said as he got up and started walking.
~30 minutes later
"I can see the town Doran" I said as we barely got to the town. "remember what I said little Caz" he said as we were almost at the town> " yup I remember" I said as we were almost in hearing range of the guards. "HEY! you two over there" one of the guards said as we got near the gate. "hello sir" Doran said while bowing down to the guard that called us. "can I ask you why you are coming to this town" the guard said as he pulled out a small book. "yes of course were from a small village and i was planning on coming here so I could register as a traveler" he said as I thought about how monster hunters are called travelers.

"oh I understand I have to ask you a few questions as procedure sorry" the guard said as he gave me a small smile. "of course just let me know if there's any problems with my answer" Doran said with a light smile. "first can I have your names" the guard said as he pulled out a pen. "ah yes my name is Doran Djinn this is my son tell him your name little buddy" he said as looked at me with a smile "hello my name is Cazlid nice to meet you" I said with a big smile to make me seem excited. "alright the next question is your ages" the guard asked after writing in his book. "ah ok I'm thirty two and little Caz is" he stopped speaking as I blurted out "I'm eleven!" still trying to keep up the illusion that I'm just excited to enter the town.
"I believe that should be all there is I have to ask" the guard said closing his book. " ah thank you it was a pleaser to meet you" Doran said with a smile on his face. "it was nice to meet you sir" I said while smiling. "ah if you plan on staying here for a few days I recommend star shot inn" the guard said before we entered the city. "thank you sir we will check out that in" Doran said as we past through the gate.
I saw a whole street covered in small stalls that were selling food, weapons, potions, and games. It was like a carnival as I took a look around I saw at the center of the town was a huge building. "what's that building at the center of the town" I asked Doran in joy. "it is a traveler building that's where were going" he said as he walked towards the building. "alright Doran" I said while looking at all the stalls as we walked to the traveler building.
as we neared the building we saw tons of people entering the building some with armor and weapons, and some had robes and staffs. "you ready little Caz" he said as he patted my head while smiling "I am lets go" I said as I ran in the building. as I entered I saw a desk with five windows as Doran entered we walked up to the line to sign up to be a traveler. "hello miss I was hoping you can help me sign me and my son up to be a traveler" Doran said while smiling. "ah hello sir I don't know if it's ok for me to sign your son up to be a traveler" the elf with long white hair said while looking at me. "ah I'm sorry what is the requirements to be a traveler again" Doran said as he moved his hair back. "you have to be above nine and show some form of reward from a monster" the elf said looking down in embarrassment. "little Caz show them what you got after your training" he said while looking at me. "ah the iron boars" I said as I realized he meant the needles. I pulled out all the needles "this is all the needles I have from the iron boars" I said with a smile I saw the surprise on the elf's face. "ah I see this is more then enough" the elf said while looking at them. "ah sir I need some proof of you killing a monster" the elf said as i grabbed the needles.
"ah yes of course one sec" Doran said as he looked through a bag he always carried. "ah here it is" as he pulled out a giant orb that plowed pink. "this is far more then enough don't worry" the elf said as Doran put the pink orb in his bag. "oh I have a question were is the star shot inn" Doran asked while giving a smile while his hair was still out of his face. "ah its down the street is there anything else I can help with" the elf said with a smile. "when should we come to get the traveler card" Doran said while patting my head. "it should be done by tomorrow" the elf said while writing down our info.
"I'll see you tomorrow" Doran said with a wink as me and him left to the inn. As we got to the inn we saw that the inn was nice but a bit small as we entered Doran gave me a look and said "we are travelers now that's one step closer to where we have to be" Doran said with a smile. "that's right" I said with a smile. "lets get a room for three days" he said as he walked up to the desk. "hello how can I help you sir" a short haired girl with auburn hair said. "id like to get a room for three days for two people" Doran said letting his front hair down. "that will be one gold coin" the girl said with a smile. " ah here you go" Doran said while passing the girl a gold coin.
"thank you sir you room is room seventeen" she said passing us the key. "thank you miss" Doran said while walking to the room. As we entered the room I laid down on one of the beds. "what are we gonna do tomorrow" I said while looking at Doran. "don't worry you need to sleep we have work to do tomorrow" he said patting my head. with a yawn I said "good night Doran" while smiling the last thing I heard was "goodnight little Caz" Doran said as he smiled. I fell asleep for the night to the thought of my new life.
